This is the first I have heard of Hector: Badge of Carnage. I just took a look at a video of the iPhone game and it looks pretty entertaining, I will get that one for sure.
I love the first Kings Quest, used to play that one on my uncle's Amiga a long LONG time ago. I'm glad this is a whole new adventure since I never followed the series. I'm interested to see how this one turns out. Plus, this is a very interesting development since this is the first Sierra game series Telltale has worked on, which hopefully opens the floodgates. Hoping its just a matter of time before we get a new Space Quest.
And the previously mentioned Walking Dead game sounds interesting. I have only followed the show so far, not the comics so I'm not super excited but I will give it a try.
Not too interested in the other games but maybe I will in time. Good work Telltale. Also, a part of me is glad they are not milking the Monkey Island series so soon after the last one. Give that one a few years maybe.
Well...no Monkey Island.
And Telltale has five projects (as well as BTTF and Jurassic Park) going on for the next few years to keep them busy.
It's not happening now. It might not ever happen.
I hate to think like that, but yeah, things are looking grim for both MI and SB. D=
Sooo... no ToMI, just one puzzle agent game, no S&M, no Strong Bad, old game I've never played, Two comic book based games I've never read, and Hector, I must say that I'm a little disappointed
Wait, if they're doing King's Quest, does that mean lots more random deaths and unwinnable dead end situations? That is, do you think it follow Sierra's different play style?
So.... a computer game I won't be able to complete (!) to add to a computer game based on a tv show we dont get on Freeview; a computer game based on a comic that I don't have any interest in reading; a computer game I've never heard of; and a single measly episode of "Puzzle Agent". I'm afraid that I'm going to go with "disappointed" to describe my reaction to these announcements.... I was hoping that there would be *something* more obviously aimed at the Sam and Max/Monkey Island following.
(Mind you... I don't suppose there's any chance of hoping that these [plus the continuing BTTF game and the forthcoming Jurassic Park game] are not necessarily EVERYTHING Telltale have got on even a hypothetical horizon? And it's not as if they're HAVE to be just Lucasartsesque all the time. I mean, if they were, they'd've just announced a bunch of crappy Star Wars games, right?
I'm very dissapointed as none of the new games TTG are going to make next few years interests me. Monkey Island and Sam & Max are the only games I like from TTG, so if there won't be more of the games, TTG has lost one customer.
I wish you guys had picked a Sierra franchise that needed a sequel. I'm interested in what you bring to the table, but there were better options. Excited for Puzzle Agent Part 2.
Well, just because it wasn't announced now doesn't mean it won't ever be. I'm sure there'll be more MI in the future. But that's 7 games away...
At the very very very least.
I'm really not sure how much longer I'm gonna stick around after BTTF now. Since Puzzle Agent is just one more episode, that might be worth a buy. Maybe I could see how King's Quest turns out. I don't have any interest in the comic book licenses, and the other game isn't technically Telltale, is it?. They're just helping to port it.
I was previously gonna get Jurassic Park because I own every game Telltale have made, quite liked the movie (only the first movie), and don't wanna stop supporting them here. Now it seems to be completely changing. I think I'll take a back seat on the Jurassic Park games now.
So yeah, as for my future with Telltale. There are windows of opportunity, but nothing that seriously jumps out. If it were another Monkey Island, I'd preorder it on the spot, but these...eh...we'll see how it turns out.
I think I'm going to swallow my disappointment for now and just trust that these are all going to be great games. Except Hector. Which having just read the IGN review I know I'm never going to play it.
This doesn't mean I've gotten over the fact there's no Monkey Island though.
So when you say a King's Quest "reboot", does that mean, like, starting over from scratch? Alternate King Graham adventure that ignores the events of the series?
Oh, that reminds me, I need to play the new episode of TSL.
Sounds good to me. I've been interested in Hector ever since it came out, but since I don't own an iDevice that can handle it I haven't been able to play it. It's also good to know that we'll be seeing the conclusion to Puzzle Agent's story, although it's slightly disappointing that it isn't being expanded into a full season. As for Fables, I'd never heard of it before this announcement, but the premise sounds really fun so I'm definitely willing to get excited for it.
The other two don't tickle my senses, but I'll await until we get more information on them to form a better judgement.
I'm also looking forward to your next press conference where you'll announce Simon the Sorcerer. Right? Right?!
Well, out of those listed, only interested in Puzzle Agent, and seeing as that's a one off game, oh well . Good Luck TellTale, hope these games do well, but don't forget your fans, you've been ever so distant since BTTF.
I am SUPER excited for the new Kings Quest I'm a huge fan of the Sierra adventures games, and they are the first games I ever played as a kid, so I have some nostalgia for them. In the back of my mind, I somewhat expected one of the announcements to be based on a Sierra franchise . Maybe this means a Space Quest game is a possibility some time down the road....
Can King's Quest come with an instruction manual that has clues vital to solving the game? And can we be asked to find the 3rd word in the 5th paragraph on the 10th page every time we start it?
Nostalgia is really a twisted little so-n'-so.... :^)
Do you guys mean that Episodes 2 and 3 (of presumably a 3 episode series) are not outsourced, and Episode 1 is simply (for lack of a better word) a port?
EDIT: Ok, Telltale didn't make the content in the trailer. Nevermind. Let's see how they do with Episode 2 and 3.
I'm calling it. King's Quest will be a disaster. Telltale's style is no where near that of Sierra's. If they preserve death sequences and work with the original designers they may have a chance, if one or none of those things will be incorporated I'm writing it off completely. I've always said that Telltale taking on Sierra franchises would be something that could never work. I stand by it until I see that they're capable of doing more impressive and versatile work than what they've done lately.
More importantly, I suppose, is Roberta Williams being called in to consult?
The me that lived in the 1980s playing Kings Quest 1-IV hopes so. The me that lived in the 90s with King Quest V-8 and Phantasmagoria lives in fear of that happening.
I didn't know people particularly wanted King's Quest to be brought back. I kinda liked it as a kid, frustrating as it was, but 8 games seemed like plenty. I suppose it has been a while, though, so they could try something new but it'd be a really hard thing to replicate in Sierra's style, as MusicallyInspired said.
Am also very disappointed in the lack of Monkey Island.

I'm not optimistic.
Well, they are adding the possibility of death to Jurassic Park...

I'm afraid that I'm left rather cold by Telltale's upcoming selection. That's not to say I won't give each of them a go as they come out (plus, I did enjoy the atmospheric but flawed Puzzle Agent, so a follow up's not unwelcome).
I did have a some amount of hope when Alan said that long-time adventure game fans might have something to be excited about, but then I found out it was King's Quest. Aside from the sublime Gabriel Knight series and the great schlock B-movie cheese fest; Phantasmagoria 2, I never could quite get along with the Sierra adventure games, perhaps King's Quest more so because I'm very much a Sci-Fi man and not really interested in the traditional (read; cliched) Fantasy genre.
Still, the fact that Telltale is rebooting the series offers hope that the fantasy might be a little more original and fresh this time around (although, I wonder how King's Quest fans feel about a reboot, as opposed to a straight-up sequel).
By the way, for those worried about ToMI. I pretty much knew that it wouldn't be in the 5 game line up because Telltale have stated that they're waiting for the management shift over at the Lucas Ranch to settle before opening up that particular avenue again...
...and as far as I'm aware, LucasArts has yet to locate a full time replacement for Darrell Rodriguez, so there is still hope.
Puzzle Agent 2 is the conclusion to the story started in the Puzzle Agent pilot and a single game.
That's dissapointing, I honestly believe it could've been made episodicly and would've sold rather well. If it was made episodic it could've focused on different aspects of the grickle world. All arching into one dramictic eveil plot of some sorts. (kinda of like S&M) I'm still going to buy it, but I'm dissapointed it's not episdoic.
Which raises the question, I doubt it will, but is Puzzle Agent 1/2 coming to WiiWare?

Puzzle Agent trailer!
Ooh! I will!
Dashing... the next year or so of your life is ruined.
Like!

Let's just hope for less jigsaw puzzles, eh?
Like "Quest for the Crown" again but reloaded?
At the very very very least.

JP = April-Sep/Oct
Walking Dead = Q4, probably in Oct for Halloween
Fables = Q1 2012
Hector = This Year
King's Quest = Unknown
PA = This Summer
At the most it'll be a year.
This doesn't mean I've gotten over the fact there's no Monkey Island though.

I'm excited but then I love just about everything that you guys do (that isn't poker).
I hope getting Kings Quest means other Sierra IPs will come back someday.
I figured Monkey Island was unlikely since LucasArts had a management change and stopped most external development.
Nostalgia is really a twisted little so-n'-so.... :^)
Hector = Not Outsourced
Hmm. I thought you snatched up the rights and was porting it. TO REREAD THE PRESS RELEASE

that does look funny! I might get that.
Exciting to see what happened to the foreman

I too, want to know the answer to this.
