I work for a company that edits press releases before they get sent off to the world at large. (We used to get the announcements about what's going to be on Nintendo's Virtual Console the friday before they were released! :^)) It seems weird to outsiders to have a company give a press conference and then say, "But don't tell anyone until this time!" but there are reasons behind it that make sense when you know what's happening in the background. I can't speak for Telltale, but I know that generally speaking, the strategy is some permutation of:
1) Prepare the announcement.
2) Tell the media.
3) Tell the media when they can tell the public.
4) Prepare a long string of answers to potential questions the media might ask when the info is unleased, and brief the people that answer the phones for PR. Prepare trailers and websites and other mass media and set it to go online for that time.
5) Unleash the media kraken!
It's all carefully orchestrated. Then there are things that they have to consider like, "Well we don't want to tell them on president's day, because not all of the media is going to be active then, and you don't want to release the info at the same time that everyone's financial reports go out, because then the info could get lost in a sea of earnings reports..."
Rest assured, for whatever reason, Telltale figured 12:30 pacific was the best possible time to let the info go. :^)

Another reason I guess is that then the media won't be rushing as much with the story, so details are more likely to be correct.

That had a lot to do with our decision to make the embargo when we did. We wanted press to enjoy the press event, get a chance to play the games being demoed at their leisure, and not immediately be entered into a race of "who can leave the event quickest to break the story first".
Another consideration was Sony's Motorstorm event that was taking place in the city, during and right after our event.
I wonder if this new relationship with Warners includes stuff like Harry Potter, Green Lantern, Looney Tunes and Adult Swim?
With this being the 11th hour before the final annoucement, I wonder what is the over all strategy? While all nontraditional, Telltale is currently making 2 movie games, and two comic book games. Which way do you continue from there? I am still holding that the other titles are originals but I don't know at this point.
Regardless of what the announcement is, if it ISNT Monkey, they should at least mention MI and the status of a potential MI6/TMI2 simply based on how much everyone wants to know (even if that status is that there is no status yet)
It's the Walking Dead. They're messing with their forums and updating for it - I just saw it and when I reloaded it disappeared - I should have snapped a picture.
I really hope Telltale can pull this off. I'd love a true Action Adventure hybrid, something that could seamlessly be an adventure game with Sam & Max controls, but then with a push of a button turn into a 3rd person action game.

its already anounced its the walking dead and fable.

Would play it, but I don't think they do anything like that.
It would be the next best thing.
...I think I just threw up a little.
That would be awesome. QFI all over again.
Pirate hunter extraordinary
"Laundry Night at the Inventory?"
"Sam & Peepers: Freelance Police"?
"Amusing and Supernatural Pirates on an Island Full of Monkeys Entirely Dissimilar to Any Other Such Islands Owned by Lucasarts?"
Cameron and Clegg in "The Big Society"?!
I'm so desperate for actual adventure GAMEPLAY, I'd even buy that.
Use liquid clock with upside down horse, off course why didn't I think of that before!

Well, if they make that instead of more Tales... I could totally live with that. I'd buy it!
New license? So, not a sequel to any of their old games?
My hope for Strong Bad and Monkey Island continues to dwindle...
For all we know a "new license" could mean a renewal of an old license that no longer exists (Bone...etc.)
You win an internet.

In about an hour and a half, I'm guessing.
Assuming some website decides to deliver the news immediately after the embargo ends.
Thanks.
I'll have about five to ten tabs open at various sites when 12:30 hits.
Obsessive? Sure, why not?

Well, I guess we'll find out in...1 hour...
COME ON BE MONKEY BE MONKEY BE MONKEY BE MONKEY (or Potter) BE MONKEY BE MONKEY BE MONKEY

Fables is another.
Another one is probably going to be a full Puzzle Agent season.
Virtually the whole board is hoping for a second Monkey Island season. So MAYBE that...
And...one other mystery project that no-one knows what it'll be.
its already anounced its the walking dead and fable.
Here's something for you to consider: Warner Bros. owns the movie rights to Bone.
This made me excited.
YesyesyesyesyesyesyesYES!
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
Please...
... :winslow:
I'm intrigued. I wonder if it's a Lucasarts Liscense they've got hold of..... *hoping for MI and Grim Fandango*
I wouldn't count on it. Sumo Digital have already produced a four-part Doctor Who adventure game and are planning to do another series.
Sounds delicious!
But what about recent fans? Will we be as excited?
*Fan girl scream* AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Although I'm a guy
I'm thinking it'll be either Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, or Maniac Mansion.
To all of those I say YESYESYES!
