Whilst I admire your candour I think that's a bit of a dumb reason. Anyway they said sorry ...I think.
Anyhoo, generally speaking with aul games you'll run into less compatability issues on GOG than on Steam, then all the other pro GOG propaganda that people are always beating on about. Basically it's not that bad and you'll prolly get a soundtrack!
Ketzer's not along in never buying anything from them. I've not bought a single thing from GOG, but that's only because nothing's really taken my fancy. Generally speaking anything I want I either already have on Steam or still have the original hanging around! Oucast, Silver, etc are all sitting on my shelf somewhere.
Anyway, Thief I is now up on Steam. Not entirely sure what went wrong there, but meh, whatever.

Aye I don't have a whole pile of stuff from them myself and having my library broke up, especially when my Steam's where all my games are basically, is a pain.
The whole Good old Games experience is (thankfully quite aptly) good. They've a nice download manager and everything works from the get-go, it's jsut not as unified as something like Steam which keeps everything together neatly. They're good with stuff like international pricing and sometimes the extras are really really good.
My copy of Thief 1's on disc but the temptation to have a version that's all configured for modern machines with no faffing about for a nominal fee's very tempting. More of a GOG purchase in my eyes though, just because.

My copy of Thief 1 is working but Thief Gold never installed on NTFS systems for me. I played the first one so many times now and never got the chance to play the new levels, see the changes they made to some of the old levels and the easteregg that is also only included in Thief Gold.
I am also quite curious which patches they used in the games. They changed quite a bit in the official patches if I remember correctly.
Being the suprisingly unusual 90's gamer, (in the sense I stuck to the habit like glue, going beyond that generation's general interest in games), I have to say GOG has been a godsend for me!
I never had a good PC growing up.
Many PC games like Toonstruck and Shadowman had tons of issues getting them to work.
I was a console/handheld kid.
I had a Snes/N64/Gameboy, A PS1/PS2, a megadrive, and eventually a Dreamcast.
For a large part of my life consoles games was all I ever saw.
So GOG is brilliant because it gives me the chance to experience an entirely different past that ran parallel to my own.
Some games are just fascinating, a suprising amount are very fun and well made.
The dirt cheap prices help LOADS. I have hundreds of GOGs in my library.
I haven't played all of them, but I try to experience as many as I can between sessions of modern gaming, (though the way things are going with the modern gaming scene, that backlog may be more heavily accessed in the future).
I'm going to admit, hating on GOG does not please me, and I don't see how their PR stunts have been so bad, (considering as a business student I have seen far far far far far far far more worse things happen. Somtimes, some outright evil things. The scheme was a little mean-spirited, but they did apologise and they gave me a free game so I can't really moan about it (GOG support has generally been fantastic btw. I just ask them to help, and then they do it. You would be suprised how many companies fail to grasp that basic concept)).
Anyway. I'm not biting on this offer. Already have Thief 1-3.
1 & 2 on GOG, and 3 on the xbox.
Starting May 24th and going through June 1st more than 50 games on Steam go on sale "Because We May", independent publishers are putting their games on sale to highlight the importance for game makers to be able to control the price of their own games.
The page has been updated with discount prices now, so hopefully it won't be long before we can buy a bunch of new games we won't have time to play anytime soon.
Seems like it. I'll be getting Stacking at least, since I now have a computer to run it on. (Had to upgrade the graphics card on my desktop computer so that my wife could play Diablo 3.)
A bunch more titles have been added to the Because We May sale. They're all at the bottom of each page, so check 'em out. Just... make sure you avoid Brainpipe. *shudder*

What do you mean "check 'em out"? Aren't you going to compile a list of the titles and prices with a short summary of each?
Dungeon Defenders is on sale. If any of you get it, but me and friend me on Steam. I always like a good match. It's a coop tower defense and RTS action hybrid.

Sorry I'm not getting "Way Too Much Overpriced DLC": The Game.

Actually, all of that DLC was free when it first came out. Anything I missed I'm not paying for either. Most of that DLC is just character skins anyway. People who purchased it have no advantage over those that did not. For DLC maps, if a friend has the map you can play it too and you don't need to pay.

If I was gonna make a beefd about the game it'd be thye regularity and size of updates, there's a 250mb patch a few times a week, people with restricted bandwidth really couldn't feasibly play the game with the amount (and size) of updates they push out.
This doesn't affect me personally but I know some people who it does, it's just not something they can keep installed anymore.
Today's Daily Deal is Confrontation, a strategy RPG thing. £14.99 / $19.99.
There's also a second Weekend Deal I didn't mention yesterday - Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.
Free to Play all weekend, and the Normal Version's £7.49 / $9.99, while the Deluxe Edition's £9.99 / $12.49.
Today's Daily Deal is SkyDrift, a racing game... in the skies! £3.99 / $4.99.
Also, Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is $5.99 from Amazon and is redeemable on Steam. I'd really like this, but Amazon screws me over by being for US customers (or US Credit Card owners) only.
They even have a problem with Canada. Certain product types, certain distributor specific products(let's say a game or movie has a different distributor in Canada, a company can actually tag the product so they can't sell it here), and of course downloads. C'mon Amazon.
We've had a couple perks for being seen as too American for Europe and too European for America. Banned products, games, censored and cut films. Generally, I've been able to find everything from one company or another. Of course speaking of the time prior to internet transaction. These days, not much stops anybody.
It stops me. Seriously, if anyone would like to buy it for me, I'll repay them with a similarly priced item on their Steam Wishlist (provided you have one, of course). Apparently I cannot have enough RPGs. Weird.
Today's Daily Deal is Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy a first-person adventure game in the stupidly long running series. How old is this girl, anyway? And how's she finding time for all these adventures? £2.99 / $3.49.

The Nancy Drew series is popular among the casual gamers . I don't have to buy it , since it's part of my Shockwave Unlimited subscription .

Why? Because of that marketing/rebranding stunt?

(Thanks for posting the right price, ketzer)
Lucidity (by LucasArts)
It's 50% off which means:
€ 2.24
$ 2.49
£ 1.74
The page has been updated with discount prices now, so hopefully it won't be long before we can buy a bunch of new games we won't have time to play anytime soon.
The Weekend Deal is Civilization V. It's free-to-play all weekend, and the whole Civ V franchise is 75% off.
By the Way: Metro is 2.49€ over here. WTF.
Will not buy it though. It's THQ so it will be language locked.
So they are.
Either way, anybody have a money press they can loan me?
I have a few, how many you need?
A lot of the Because We May titles are now even 75% or 80% off.
What do you mean "check 'em out"? Aren't you going to compile a list of the titles and prices with a short summary of each?
But I haven't actually played it!
I need to fix that sometime soon... XD

Username is the same as this one!
(You'll know its me when you see a fat Freakazoid avatar! XD)
Yeah, those were never free. Other than those, the other DLC were each free for two weeks after they came out.
There's also a second Weekend Deal I didn't mention yesterday - Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.

Speaking about Steam and indie bundles . We have a classfields thread on GOG where you can trade these kind of games .
