    Today's Daily Deal is Darkspore. It's... OK. £3.74 / $4.99 / €12.49

    Ding ding ding!

    $4.99 is about €12.49, right?

Actually I wouldn't buy it even if it was €2.49. I played Spore more than enough a few years ago but when I had enough I really had enough.

Well no. $4.99 is about 3.99€.
Typical EA pricing of death and destruction.

Oh yeah, I remember this. You were not happy about the pricing at ALL. Not that I blame you, mind.

Yeah, I know it is. Usually when we get screwed on price it's by little enough that it might be fair considering we have higher average income, but the difference on this one's pretty absurd.

    £11.99 / $19.99 / €18.39

Double post, but it's worth it.

Remember Steam's Big Picture? The thing that lets you play Steam games on a big ol' TV? Well, it's out now, and to celebrate, 10 games that use it are on sale. Most are 75% off, though there's a few that are 66%, 50% & 33%.

21 games on sale and I'd suggest you all pick up "Hell Yeah!: Wrath Of The Dead Rabbit" if you love crazy platformers with WarioWare-style mini games and a Rabbit as the main hero.
One of my favourite games this year and it even works great on Mouse & Keyboard. (fully customizable controls)
  • edited December 2012
Eehhhh I've been playing Hell Yeah! as well, and while it is a decent game, its certainly nothing special. Truly its aesthetics and humour style save it from being plain mediocre.

I hear Shank 2 is great, and I already had Shank from an indie bundle so I decided to pick it up for a little marathon fun! :D

Also, if you haven't got Castle Crashers... WAIT! Hell! Even if you DO already have Castle Crashers, you should pick that up on sale. One of the greatest beat em ups ever made. Just so goshdarn fun! :D

Yes, there's a bunch of games on sale. The news article mentioned 10, but that's clearly inaccurate.

Recommend these two more than any other. They are both a lot of fun.

Also, I didn't think too much of Lego Batman 2, but for that price, it's probably worth it. The other Lego <insert franchise here> games also seem to be on offer, but not as good value as LiB2DiCS.

    Daily Deal:

    [Crazy Machines Everything Pack]

    £11.99 / $19.99 / €18.39

It comes up at €13.99 on my end.
  • edited December 2012
Really? Oh. It's €18.39 on the German store, and that's the one I grab the price from, but I guess it differs!
  • edited December 2012
Maybe we also get super secret Nazi levels to justify the higher price?
  • edited December 2012
Oh hey, you can sort your games by "Controller Supported" in Big Picture Mode now. Reduces my library to a measly 76 games.

    Remember Steam's Big Picture?

Noticed the other day when I updated and happened to have to show a friend how to use Steam. Accidentally clicked it and had to bullshit my way through it pretending it was nothing new.

Any Walking Dead Fans planning on getting Left for Dead 2 (special offers now) and forming a zombie survivor group :D

    Daily Kill:

Earth 2160 (which is currently in an indie bundle. So why buy it here?)

    £0.74 / $1.24 / €1.24

    Daily Deal:

    header_292x136.jpg

    £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99

This is since the prequel (NOT sequel) The Critter Chronicles is out today (20% off at £14.39 / $15.99 / €15.99).
  • edited December 2012
    Get them both, you fools!!!!
  • edited December 2012
You've played The Critter Chronicles then? You can vouch for its quality?

(Not being silly, I actually wanna know if it's good or not)
  • edited December 2012
Yep, played it, loved it. It's considerably shorter and less epic, but humour and puzzles are still excellent.
  • edited December 2012
Today's daily deal is DEFCON 75% off.
    But no one really cares.

What you really should have a look at are the 2 weekend deals!

No thanks. We're about two weeks away from the start of the winter sale on Steam, and I think I can hold off on FTL until then.

Since Darth Marsden and der_ketzer seem to have better things to do on a Friday night and I'm home alone with my son, here's the daily deal:

    header_292x136.jpg

    €4,99 / $4.99 / £3.99

Looks pretty uninteresting to me, but I've never been a big fan of chess.
  • edited December 2012
Well I have better things to do than tell you about a horrible chess game.
The Weekend deals are what you really want on Steam right now.
  • edited December 2012
Well yeah. I wanted it when I saw it and then I looked at the game hub and saw it had no online multiplayer. Which is the only negative of this game for me. But it is big enough.
  • edited December 2012
And I guess those will just be the GoG versions again. And hey they are overpriced as usual.
  • edited December 2012
Why does Steam think it's a good idea to put old games with a price tag almost twice as much as the same games have on GoG? (AND those same games have some extra goodies and bonuses)

I don't think it's Steam. On GoG there is a usual price for games on Steam there is not so Square can set the price to what ever they think is good. And I guess they think their old crap is worth 10€ per game.
But hey. It's only a matter of time until those are 75% off.

Well, I don't think GoG posts a game on their service without making a deal with the publisher regarding the price.

Plus, when it comes to old games on GoG (because prices with newer games are much more varied), there are TWO standard prices: 5.99 and 9.99. Legacy of Kain games cost 5.99 on GoG. And I'm sure Square and GoG have agreed on that price. Taking that into account, how the hell can anybody think that setting a price at 9.99 on a different service was ever a good idea?
  • edited December 2012
I think der ketzer has the right idea, Steam sets higher base prices so it can discount them later. Also Steam has a massive install base and more than a few of them only buy games on Steam, so there's that.
  • edited December 2012
I just think it's terrible that Eidos is using GOG like this. You know, having GOG do all the hard work of getting the games running properly on modern systems, then turning around and selling these ports on Steam for way too much.
  • edited December 2012
You could always just get them from GoG...
  • edited December 2012
No. I cannot. Well I don't want to.

What you can get on Steam for only 50% of the normal price is:

    header_292x136.jpg

    €12,49 / $12.49 / £9.99

Since I've never heard of it, and I'm willing you haven't either, here's the Gamespot review. It got a 4.5.

Holy shit, Triple Town is on Steam. I love Triple Town!

    Daily Deal:

    capsule_467x181.jpg

£5.99 / $7.49 / €6.99 (glad to see the EU doesn't get screwed over for once!)

I kinda want this, but I'm a tad wary - the inevitable Christmas Sale will be here soon, and I can't decide whether to wait for it to go on sale then or just say "f*ck it" and buy it now.
