Wii U would be more likely than Xbox because DS/3DS did get 3 games....Spinoffs but they did get them (KH 358/2 Days, Re:Coded, Dream Drop Distance) and Sony got the main series (Birth by Sleep, KH 1 & 2) but Xbox got no KH games.
I'm not sure "spinoff" means what you think it means. Even if it did, none of those are side games. Each one contains something that's going to be vital to the plot of Kingdom Hearts III. At the very least, Dream Drop is on the same level as Birth by Sleep as far as being on-par with a numbered title.
The thing is that Nintendo hasn't ever had a Kingdom Hearts game on a home console. Even the remake of the GBA game Chain of Memories was released only on PS2. So it may not matter whether or not Nintendo has ever had a Kingdom Hearts game on their systems.
If the HD rumors are true though, the Wii U would potentially get one. Even if it didn't though, they could just go the Dream Drop Distance way with its chronicles.
Sorry Guru since i don't got a 3DS i have not played Dream Drop Distance...I didn't play Chain Of Memories and only the lucky people in USA & Japan got Re:Chain of memories.

Considering you've played KH2, you shoukd know Chain of Memories IS a main title as it is what KH2 is based off of(at least the begining) and how is it very lucky to get RE:COM?
Sorry Gman i didn't mean it like that, I was saying i didn't play Chain Of Memories, I just the important parts of story from it so i didn't know if we should count it as a main game or not. Also I wish we got Re:Chain of memories over here, I might have been able to catch up on the story of Chain of Memories then.
Edit:Japan got Re:Chain of memories as a bonus disc with Kingdom hearts 2 final mix
So in other words......KINGDOM HEARTS RE:CHAIN OF MEMORIES AND IT WILL BE COMING TO EVERYWHERE?!?!!?
Hold up there. They haven't announced anything for outside Japan yet, though I'd be surprised if at least the Days remake didn't end up over here.
It's interesting how they decided that this re-release would be the first half of Sora's story. It's a shame that Birth by Sleep is being left to the side for now, but understandable, with how recently it came out. So we're seeing an HD remake of the games in the time period between when Sora gets the Keyblade to immediately before Kingdom Hearts II starts.
What really gets me about this is that it's going to include Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, which means that if this does get brought outside of Japan, this would be the first time that we've seen a localized Final Mix. What's concerning is that there's no way for them to drop voice acting in at this point, unless we want a few random scenes where Sora suddenly sounds ten years older, but then I guess those cutscenes weren't voiced in the original Japanese release either, so it's not such a big deal.
As for consoles...well, fuck. Either I have to hope that the localization gets put on both PS3 and 360 or I'm going to be buying a PS3 at some point.
Edit: I just realized, it's pretty much impossible for them not to localize it. The secret message at the end of Dream Drop wasn't talking about Kingdom Hearts III at all.
The past will be reawakened
as a new number
in never-before-seen detail
Prepare yourself for the awakening
of the next number
The only thing I really don't understand is what the "new/next number" thing has to do with it. Unless the message is talking about both the HD collection and KHIII or something. Or it might be referring to "1.5", I guess.
I love it. Rerelease 2 games in "HD" and make a third game's cutscenes viewable, but all of this only on PS3. What happened to Square-Enix hating Sony's guts? I was really hoping for Square to start moving back into Nintendo's good graces, but it doesn't seem that way at all.
Aye, I was expecting it to at least be multi-platform with the Wii U, but it seems since the DS game isn't playable, the second screen isn't important.
A few things.
First, I'm a bit confused as to why these games were picked. The order for play is generally agreed to be KH-CoM-KH2-358/2 Days-BBS-Re:Coded-DDD. Having KH, CoM and the scenes from Days kinda spoils a bit of KH2, but I suppose they want to aim for one console, two handheld games per compilation, assuming the next compilation is KH2 and BBS in HD, with cutscenes from Re:Coded.
The other thing; Days has a lot of information in conversations outside of cutscenes. Merely remaking cutscenes in HD won't be enough to give the full story. Hopefully they either have a synopsis of story events between each cutscene you can read, or new cutscenes added that deal with some of the important out-of-cutscene events. Like a full-fledged movie, even.

That's release order, which I suppose is an okay order for a first play. It's the order my first plays went in. But the best order to play the games in is chronological, which is BbS-KH-CoM-Days-KHII-coded-3D. If you take the first half of Sora's story, you get KH-CoM-Days. It basically covers the entire 14-year-old Sora chunk of the storyline.

I would imagine that they'll be doing it similar to the non-voice/video cutscenes in Kingdom Hearts and Re:Chain of Memories, with text bubbles, which is actually pretty much exactly how they did it in the original release of Days. Also, if necessary, they can create additional voiced cutscenes, as they did when they brought Chain of Memories to a console.
This also leaves the path open for a Kingdom Hearts 2.5 MiX later on including the other games, provided this one does well (which I'd imagine it would, since it's the first real re-release of the first game). Smart, Squeenix. Smart.
Yeah, I fully expect a second HD collection to come out, containing KHII Final Mix and Re:coded. Maybe Birth by Sleep Final Mix if we're lucky. Almost definitely not Dream Drop, though.

Eh, I disagree with that, as do a lot of KH fans. The release order is more likely to be enjoyable if you like the story, since it maintains the mysteries and unanswered questions (not to mention gameplay improving instead of skipping around). Suggesting someone play the KH games in chronological order, to those like me, is suggesting someone watch Star Wars in chronological order. It'll probably make more sense from a story perspective but you'll learn things that were, in the earlier games, mysteries left to be resolved in chronologically earlier titles.
The main offender being BBS, of course, but also a bit of Days.
I guess what I'm saying is, release order for an introductory playthrough of the series; chronological order for subsequent playthroughs. That's what I'm intending to do when I marathon them before KH3. The compilation just seems like it's going to be a bit iffy for new series entrants.

This statement confuses me a bit, it seems you're saying Days is going to be a playable, HD-remade game? Sites are saying that, while Re:CoM and KH are playable and updated, Days itself isn't going to be playable- they are simply remaking the cutscenes using better HD graphics. I don't think the speech-bubble conversations are going to work, unless they turned Days into a sort of visual novel with the cutscenes embedded where the fit between conversations.
That's why I said what I said; I can't see the Days story being halfway understandable if you just watch the original cutscenes with no context. http://kh13.com/videos/days/eng-cut/ That's all the cutscenes that, right now, are all we know they are updating. BBS has like, 270 cutscenes (though some are repeats), since there's no speech-bubble conversations, while Days only has 28. Re:Coded is going to have the same problem if they do the same thing; the last pre-credit cutscene literally continues a conversation that was just in progress via speech-bubble text. The first words are something like "And they are all connected to you, Sora." Without context, that'll make no sense whatsoever.
I may have misinterpreted your post, if I did, I apologise. That's just how I read it. I'ma sleep now, so feel free to correct me for when I check in. Sorry if I sound hostile, I just didn't wanna emoticon spam =P

I don't think Square hate's Sony's guts, BBS was a PSP Exclusive and i read on Wikipedia If i remember right that they were offered to make a PS Vita Kingdom Hearts game but they said they were very impressed with the Vita but they decided maybe it's time for KH to return to consoles and i think they ment this collection. I do hope if this comes to everywhere then I hope we get the Final Mix version of KH 1. Also if we get the KH 2 Final Mix that means we can go to the badlands and fight

I guess that's fair enough. Most of that really doesn't bother me in the slightest, but then I've played the whole series and I'm coming from the perspective of already knowing all the answers the series has given up so far.

Well it could happen. MGS HD got ported and i think Sony knows that KH is a popular series and if the HD collection came to Vita i think loads of people would get a vita for a portable KH 1. Also Square did say they were impressed with the Vita.
That trailer reminds me how much I love Kingdom Hearts.
I love the way the glass cubes shattered at the start as if to signify a return to consoles. A lot of folk hate those cubes making the picture smaller =P
Yeesh, I dunno...I admit to liking some parts of KH2 Atlantica (would like more optional 'music minigame' things), I like Agrabah because Aladdin was my favourite movie...Pride Lands were big, you could fly in Neverland, Traverse Town feels like 'the' Kingdom Hearts world, Destiny Islands was fun, Beast's Castle has nice music..
If i had to pick...The World that Never Was? It felt very end-game in the games it appeared in (aside from Days) and a lot of story was focused there.
Oh, but Castle Oblivion has nice history and technically has the other worlds in it =P
I would say that the hardest game to get through the main story is Kingdom Hearts II, simply because I can't think of any other game where I had a main story boss that gave me as much trouble as Xaldin. Now, the hardest game to unlock the secret ending in would be Re:coded, with all its trophies with difficult requirements. And without question, the hardest optional bosses I've managed to beat were the Vanitas Remnant and the Unknown (later revealed to be Young Xehanort) in Birth by Sleep (both were about an equal pain to defeat), with Julius from Dream Drop Distance coming in a close third.
What about the 8 stars in Braid?
Wait 2 hours for a cloud? Really?
Nothing hard about that skill-wise though, just demands a little patience.
Can we include optional bosses as well when we pick out the hardest KH game? If so, the first KH is definitely the hardest all because of the optional Sephiroth boss at Olympus Colosseum.

Its an HD remake of the first KH game and KH:CoM...
That would be great. It'd work well on the Wii U, since at least two games use a second control screen, but it's not totally necessary.
I'd love an HD re-release, though. Compilation, of course.
