There is an item in the game with extends your time as one character and is pretty cheap to upkeep.

I literally played two whole worlds as Sora before deciding to let the game switch back to Riku! XD

Oh. That is good then. Maybe the system isn't so bad afterall. Still seems rather pointless if it is so easy to prevent, but at least boss fight switches are more my fault than anything this way.

When does Drop-Me-Not become available? I've only been to the Moogle shop in Traverse Town and didn't see it there.

Edit: Never mind. It's first available at the Moogle shop in the Hunchback world.

Ok KH 3d is really becoming one of main reasons to get a 3ds...Along with Zelda 3d, Mario Kart, Sonic Generations, and Mario 3d land

All rightie then, a little farther in and I can honestly say, the drop system is pretty freaking stupid and pointless. It does nothing to help anyone at all! It doesn't help you from neglecting one story for another as you can freely switch back to the other(but whatever enemies you were fighting reset, including bosses), so it loses its one purpose, but keeps all the negative effects such as all your enemies being fully healed(you heal too, but still), you lose a deck slot to keep those drop-me-not items, and now you feel stressed and can't fight freely in each world, encouraging speedrunning instead of enjoying yourself.

    Bad, bad design choice.

God dammit. This is the first game in the series that doesn't feature Olympus Coliseum, and they had to go and stick a piece of Coliseum music in it at the end of Sora's story in Country of the Musketeers.
  • edited August 2012
Well Guru since you beat Sora's story tell me is Prankster's Paradise & Country of the Musketeers good?
  • edited August 2012
I wasn't totally in love with Country of the Musketeers or Sora's half of Prankster's Paradise, but they were good. Oddly enough, I was much happier playing Riku's half of Prankster's Paradise inside Monstro than I was playing Sora's half at Pleasure Island.

All that said, I got to start playing both halves of Symphony of Sorcery before I quit for the night, and it's AMAZING. I couldn't have asked for more from a Fantasia world.

It makes me sad that no one has mentioned how awesome it is that
Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges, even though he's not actually doing the voice, it sounds great)
    is in this game.

They put in a Fantasia world?! That sounds great i just wonder how they made a story for that.

So far, it's about Mickey when he was Yen Sid's apprentice. One thing that's really great is that aside from speaking in the cutscenes at the top of the tower, Sora and Riku don't speak at all in this world, including their attack calls, and many of the attack sound effects have been changed to fit with the orchestral music from Fantasia that plays throughout the world.

    It's amazing.

Damn it, I didn't want to spend the money on this. I hate you all.

Anyone else feel the worlds are a little... lackluster? I mean some story wise are great(Pranksters Paradise), but then there are worlds like The Hunchback of Notre Dame world, where
Riku's story literally solves itself with the guy just falling into the fire... really?
    Maybe that's just me there.

    Also, I'm a little confused, aren't
Sora and Riku on different "types" of worlds each time and not traveling in the same worlds in different times? In Traverse Town it was shown there were 2 seperate worlds of that they were traveling, and same for Notre Dame's world since the antagonist died in 2 different ways, but then in worlds like Pranksters Paradise, it seems rather obvious that Sora shows up before Riku and that they are in the same world. Same could be said about Tron's world too. Which is it?

That's what happens to him in the movie.

That's what happens to him in the movie.

    But
Did he really just trip and fall? I mean he there wasn't anything happening, he was just walking on top of the tower watching, and then just randomly tripped
was that exactly how it happened in the movie or was it more like what happened with Sora where
He was about to attack Quasi before falling?

Also can you really say The Grid from Tron was introduced here i know it's based on Tron Leagcy but still i don't think people should say it's a whole new world.
  • edited August 2012
In Kingdom Hearts II it was called Space Paranoids. So yeah, new world.
  • edited August 2012
    Yeah new name=different world.
  • edited August 2012
    Yeah new name=different world.

New name, movie its based off of, characters, astetic design, enemies, level design, etc... Heck, the only thing that are similar are the lightcycles, even Tron is different, and Sora even states that this isn't the world of Tron he remembers. I'd be more worried that Riku turns up in Monstro which only changes the layout and nothing else is changed.
    Speaking of Tron
It was established that this WASN'T the Tron Sora met in the past and have zero relation after Ansem copied the idea, how in the world did Sora make Tron remember him if this is the case?
  • edited August 2012
Well to be fair since i know nothing of the ''new'' Tron KH world in KH 3d since the only gameplay i seen from that world was in a trailer with Clue (Not sure how you spell his name) in it. Also is any gameplay from the first gameplay shown in E3 in it? If i remember the footage was Sora playing around in Destiny Islands then it switches to Riku in Traverse Town?

Don't make claims on stuff you don't know anything about next time.

As for the E3 gameplay, I'd have to see the exact footage, but there so far is no Destiny Islands to play at, Riku does however go to Traverse Town at least twice in the story.

Heart. Whenever you have a question in Kingdom Hearts you can't answer, the answer is almost always heart.

Putting spoiler tags on this one in chunks so people can spoil as far as they want to. Not that they're very big spoilers.

During the middle part of the credits,
there's a drop minigame that unlocks a secret message if you collect all of the glowing letters to spell out "Secret Message Unlocked" on the touch screen. The message says:
    The past will be reawakened
    as a new number
    in never-before-seen detail

    Prepare yourself for the awakening
    of the next number

    Which seems to indicate that
the next title will indeed be Kingdom Hearts III and the first Kingdom Hearts game on a current-gen console, likely the PS3 and maybe the Xbox 360 in North America.

Also, during the end part of the credits,
they do the usual thing of showing the characters doing things during the credits, except this time they're all accompanied by letters. If you put them all together, it spells "This leads to KINGDOM HEARTS". After that, the last two sets of characters to come on screen aren't accompanied by letters, but there's three characters in each shot. Specifically, DiZ, Roxas, and Xion in the first shot, and Terra, Aqua, and Ven in the second, so most of the people Sora is supposed to rescue.

I still need to get four more trophies to unlock the secret ending. Also, you apparently have to re-fight the final boss (
And there's a lot of them. As I recall, Riku has to fight Ansem, gets a reprieve at a save point, then immediately has to fight Young Xehanort and then the Armored Ventus Nightmare.
) and then have the correct answers to three questions you get asked at the end.

Look all i said was A Tron world has already been introduced to the KH universe. It's like i went and watched Tron then went and watched Tron Leagcy and said to myself ''I wish this took place as the same world as in Tron 1'' (I'm talking about the game grid) It does not matter what is different about it. It's like i called Hollow Baston a new world in KH 2 because it is now different than KH 1.

Any tips for defeating the dream eaters
spellican creates in Sora's story? I hate dieing from just one of the bosses only to restart the entire battle over again. What did you guys do to beat it?
  • edited August 2012
I would recommend the highest magic-boosting Keyblade you have and commands like Thundaga, Spark Dive, and Triple Plasma. Also, get the highest-level Cure spell you can, put it in the last slot in your deck, and make it your shortcut. Got me through the whole game. Riku's deck was similar, but I favored more attack-based commands and Keyblades with him.

Do I have access to these abilities this far into the game? I'm assuming they are commands learned through the dream eaters that I've completely ignored for the most part :p

I honestly can't remember. I didn't ignore the Dream Eaters, but then I also only used something like five different ones between Sora and Riku. I know I picked up Thundara somewhere, the Moogles wouldn't sell me Thundaga until late, and when I wanted a second Thundaga, I couldn't find a Moogle selling Thunder magic again. I think Triple Plasma was in a chest somewhere, and Spark Dive is available from every Moogle in the game.

Oh, and if you've completely ignored the Spirits, you should have an abundance of parts to create them. Go create the best Meow Wow you can so you can get Leaf Bracer. I would also recommend pointing your camera at this thing:

    AR_Card_AKHE-004.png

to get a Frootz Cat, which you should use to get all of the Attack Haste and Magic Haste abilities. Without all five Magic Hastes, I would've died so much more while waiting on Curaga to reload.

By ignore, I mean I only got the basic ones the game makes me get, so I have the bat, meow-wow(have leaf-bracer thank god), and then the 2 AR ones. Currently making the rest asap to see what all abilities they can teach me for combat.
EDIT:And is there another way to get a Frootz cat without an AR card, it feels like cheating to me if there is another way(I'm assuming Frootz is just a reskin of Necho Cat either way though.)

Okay, The Grid was by far my favorite world (that I can remember) in any Kingdom Hearts game so far. So much awesome, much of which is because of Jeff Bridges. Haven't seen Fantasia's world yet, though.

...how do you set a shortcut? I think I completely missed that part.

I liked the part where no one realized CLU isn't really a threat since he can't travel anywhere without being a keyblade wielder, effectively making the entirety of that world pointless :p
