Loving the game so far, but playing it rather slow.
For example, I've had the same since the 22nd of July, and I'm still taking Sora through Prankter's Paradise =P By the time I finish and can join discussion you'll all probably have moved on.
EDIT:And is there another way to get a Frootz cat without an AR card, it feels like cheating to me if there is another way(I'm assuming Frootz is just a reskin of Necho Cat either way though.)
Frootz Cat is exclusive to an AR card that came with the Mark of Mastery edition. I didn't make a Necho Cat, so I can't say either way on it being just a reskin, but it held so many Attack and Magic Haste abilities, it was a godsend for me.

Oh, so I can't get it any other way then, all right for me then to take it
I also made good use of the Kab Kannon from the Mark of Mastery edition.
It's only cheating because I didn't pay $15 more for my game to get the cards. Actually, I also figured there was no point in opening the cards that came with the normal edition when I had scans of them.
I still need to get four more trophies to unlock the secret ending. Also, you apparently have to re-fight the final boss (
And there's a lot of them. As I recall, Riku has to fight Ansem, gets a reprieve at a save point, then immediately has to fight Young Xehanort and then the Armored Ventus Nightmare.
) and then have the correct answers to three questions you get asked at the end.
I got the seven trophies I needed for standard difficulty (plus an extra), but the boss fight thing is worse than I thought.
When they make you go back to do it again, they really make you do it all. If you try to go into the fight as Riku, he falls asleep and the game does a force drop to make you fight Xemnas as Sora first. Then, Riku gets to fight Young Xehanort and the Armored Ventus Nightmare.
Also, every report I hear says that the middle part of the credits thing I mentioned...
there's a drop minigame that unlocks a secret message if you collect all of the glowing letters to spell out "Secret Message Unlocked" on the touch screen. The message says:
...is also a requirement for the secret ending. Can't confirm either way.
Edit: Got the secret ending. And it changed the hell out of my stats.

they do the usual thing of showing the characters doing things during the credits, except this time they're all accompanied by letters. If you put them all together, it spells "This leads to KINGDOM HEARTS". After that, the last two sets of characters to come on screen aren't accompanied by letters, but there's three characters in each shot. Specifically, DiZ, Roxas, and Xion in the first shot, and Terra, Aqua, and Ven in the second, so most of the people Sora is supposed to rescue.
Finished the game yesterday so I'd just like to point out that
after THIS LEADS TO KINGDOM HEARTS comes up, Sora and Riku run into the light, making it look like three pillars.
I'd like to know what idiot thought it bright for me to fight at least 3 boss fights one after the other without any save points in Traverse Town 2nd time with Sora? Because Its been weeks and I still can't beat the thing, because you fight in a small square with no room to dodge!
I'm thinking the same guy who makes you fight 4 bosses in World that never ends in Kingdom Hearts 2.
no, that was well done if you mean the final boss. This has the exact same tiny square that doesn't allow any moverablility, then forces bosses that REQUIRE a giant space to dodge the attacks to even be slightly fair. The only strategy is to freaking levelgrind. That is very VERY poor game design for an action game if it actually goes down to being 20 levels higher than what the game says. And the 4 bosses actually had a checkpoint system. Die at the final boss of the rotaion? F you! You get to play the whole dang thing again!
What's funny is Riku's side of this story is that he fights 4 common dream eaters and leaves. Its like no one thought "hey, anyone think it's silly to use copy and paste to make a boss fight?"
What do you mean by tiny square? Do you mean just tiny enough for Sora and the boss?
The third district of Traverse town, that little square in the center. There'es enough to do rather basic dodges, but when the bosses themselves are really quick and can attack in all directions, its near impossible to dodge.
I just beat it after 2 hours(not joking) of level grinding, which is the definition of poor game design(or a turn based RPG like Pokemon, but it isn't that).
Oh you mean the same place where you fight that boss in Kingdom Hearts 1. The one where you have to attack it's body parts.
Yes, but the area is much smaller than before, so it made things a pain when the bosses have so much range/attack power. You fight the bosses prior to that, but all 3 times its in a giant open area for you to get away and dodge the attacks that way, its nearly impossible to do so close range.
I hated that area in KH 1. Do you have anyone to help you like Goofy or Riku?
You get "Spirits" which is kind of like Pokemon in that you can pick and choose your own to collect and train, but unlike Pokemon, how useful a spirit is won't be figured out until you've used it in battle and got your but kicked, so I barely mess with the feature, unless a spirit can tech you a really cool ability(which some can)
They are in it, but they don't follow Sora and Riku. The journey this game is soley so they can become proper Keyblade Masters, so Donald and Goofy join up with Mickey and Yen Sid to prepare for what probably will be Kingdom Hearts 3.

I wasn't sure what you were talking about for a minute. So you're at the part where you've beaten the first group of worlds and got sent back to Traverse Town to fight the Spellican? I'm sort of surprised. I didn't have any problem with that.
Really, the only problems the game gave me were some of the Secret portals (where you re-fight harder versions of the bosses) and the Julius fight.
Speaking of Julius, if you're planning on earning the trophies for all treasure chests found or all special and secret link portals cleared (and they're some of the easier trophies to get for the secret ending), make absolutely certain that you've cleared out the Fountain Plaza in Traverse Town as both Sora and Riku before you beat the game, because each character won't be able to get back in there until you've fought the game's ultra-hard secret boss as them.
Seriously, the guy is so bad, you get the Ultima Weapon for beating him.

Maybe you are leveled a lot better? For me its impossible to dodge the attacks(more specifically, the 2nd boss), and to throw your own into the fight without training for 2 hours prior and getting as many defence boosts as possible. I beat it though and something new to complain about(you'll see soon)

Noted, will do that now actually, but first another rant.
I've stated it feels like some worlds were designed for Sora and not Riku and vice versa, but the 3 muskateers level for Riku is an all time low.
I beat the entirety of the level... in 10 minutes. An entire KH world beaten... in 10 minutes. They didn't even try with Riku. I'm assuming Sora's actually had thought put into it?

You are joking right? Please tell me this is some kind of joke? 10 minutes?! (faceplam)
You are joking right? Please tell me this is some kind of joke? 10 minutes?! (faceplam)
I'm not joking, that was around the time it took me to beat it. Realistically, it was probably more about 15 minutes factoring cutscenes, but that's still pathetic.

I don't know. I have no idea what level I was at at the time. And I'm not sure which boss it is you're talking about.
-watch cutscene-
Oh, that's right, I forgot that you had to re-fight the first few bosses at that part. I really don't know what to tell you about how I did it. I didn't have to do any level grinding, and I really just shot through the story mode and did all the sidequest stuff later. I did have as many HP Boost, Attack Haste, Magic Haste, and Defense Boost abilities as I could equipped at the time, from Kab Kannon and Frootz Cat. Maybe Defender, if I had it at the time.
It might be worth noting that I gave Sora a deck oriented around magic, especially Thundara/Thundaga, where I gave Riku an attack-orented deck, and I equipped their Keyblades accordingly.

This...sounds to me like you spent too much time grinding. I don't remember how long Country of the Musketeers took me, but it was certainly longer than that.
In other news, I'm back to working on the Re:coded secret ending, and it's proving to be a huge pain still. I managed to finish the hidden system sector in Hollow Bastion, but I can't manage to get through it with enough SP to collect the Ultima Weapon. The one thing that's really tripping me up (which is weird, since I did it no problem last time, just before bugged Data-Roxas wiped the floor with me) is beating an Eliminator without dying. No matter what I do, it kills me before I have any kind of a chance to kill it. I think I need to use the HP cheat somehow, use a Megalixir before going in the room, get behind it, and hit it with Mega Flare.
I think I'm going to take a break from this and go hit up the Coliseum for levels 16-30.
This...sounds to me like you spent too much time grinding. I don't remember how long Country of the Musketeers took me, but it was certainly longer than that.
Riku is currently level 24 and the game says the world is level 30, I'm technically underleveled and beat it in 10 minutes. Note, just Riku's side, I have yet to see how long Sora's is.
Also, the fountain district is just the third one right? That's the one I need to get everything in before beating the game?
You may want to keep this in mind. The special portals are link portals where special colored enemies with special drops appear, and they grant a trophy and one of the best Keyblades in the game when you finish all of them. Each character has six in each world (three in The World that Never Was), and which of the six is currently available is random and changes when you drop. Sora and Riku each have one in the Fountain Plaza. For Sora, the one in the Fountain Plaza might appear when the forecast enemy is "Zippy zapmeister" (Thunderaffe), but there's three portals in that world for that enemy, so you'll have to keep trying until that one comes up. For Riku, the portal in the Fountain District will definitely appear when the forecast enemy is "Doggish-cat thing" (Meow Wow).

Would I need to beat those for the "beat all link portals" trophy, or just for the special one?
The trophy is for beating all special and secret link portals, so you'll have to beat the six special portals in each world, plus the one secret one in each world. So everything in that FAQ link.

And then the regular ones have there own trophy then?
No. The only other trophy there is for portals is for placing 30 of your own.
Also, for clearing all of the Secret Portals, you get the Unbound Keyblade, which has the highest strength, critical hit rate, and reality shift rate in the game. As far as magic, it's inferior to End of Pain (which you get for clearing all of the Special Portals) and the Ultima Weapon. When I had to fight the final bosses again, I had Riku equipped with Unbound, and I equipped Sora with the Ultima Weapon.
Well I beat Fantasia(I'm playing this at the worst pace ever, but oh well) and this world so far is the only one that I liked on both Sora and Riku's sides of the stories.
Both boss fights were terrible though, Riku's was pathetically easy and lost potential, while Sora's was just plain stupid as the boss can teleport anywhere any time and is invincible while doing so and 9 times out of 10 he will teleport just as you hit attack, and can even start a pathetic "chase" sequence at will which makes you lose your powers until you catch him, and 10 times out of 10, its when you need to use cure...
