I do wonder IF they will make the "re-opened 2012" a reality.. If they get the money can they make the game in under 7 months?

Now, they're only $75K short so there's a pretty good chance it's happening unless they drop a disastrous idea on us. Can they do it? Sure. Can they do it with all the new changes they mentioned they "want" to do? That's a bit of a clock cruncher.

I made a friendly suggestion on their boards..... This is what I said over there.

Ok first off.. I do not intend to disrespect the artists at all... I actually really love the art direction so far... BUT if you guys get a little extra to spend on the character art.. this is my suggestion.. Evolve the character even more away from LSL7.. I love that game too but there is no reason Larry needs to be so flat nowadays.. Here is a version I whipped up in photoshop.. aimed for a version of Larry that falls somewhere between the way he looks on the box covers of the fifth and seventh game.. His suit is pretty much exactly the same as what you had before just not as flat.. same with his medallion... The backgrounds are amazing I do not think they need changing at all.. but Larry does seem a little out of place in them..

Once again no disrespect meant.. and I know you guys can do better than what I just did... I just figured it would be easier to show what I meant instead of explaining it.

That's a huge improvement. Fantastic work, Sir.

Though it's not as nice looking as what 2PlayerProductions filmed at DoubleFine, it's just as much fun listening to Al :)

Yeah.. I just wanna highfive AL.... he seems so humble..

I so much wish I had $100 to give to this like I did Double Fine Adventure. They are sooo close now. I hope they make it.

The new big idea going on in the backer comments is for everyone to raise their pledge to end in .69. Everyone's sixty nining for Larry!

I'm fairly sure they've been working on this for awhile already.

    I'm sooo doing that. :)

One week left... I think this could do it...
  • edited April 2012
Only a week left! I hope he makes it to the goal...
  • edited April 2012
Well, they're only around 2k short of the goal, so it seems pretty certain that they'll make their goal. The question is how far beyond the goal they will get.

    Edit: It's funded. Whoo!

    goal has been met.

    Yayz! :D

Hooray! I'm so glad they made their goal! :D

I'm not sure if anyone reading this haven't backed already, but it's possible to back with Paypal now that the goal is reached:

It would be sweet to reach that $750K goal for more game play.

Huzzah!!! I knew we could do it! Rock on, Larry!! :D

They've successfully reached the 500000 level some days ago. And a new update:

"So, here's the easier one: at the $550,000 level, we will be maxing out the game responses along the lines I suggested in my video update. Tons more jokes, tons more responses for clicking on screen features, dialogue trees, inventory-on-inventory messages, and more story! We’ll load every existing nook and cranny with extra content because, as Al pointed out to us, the original was “kinda thin” on that.

Now, here's the big one: at the $650,000 level, we're doing something that will change the face of Larry forever (if only!): we're adding a new location, new puzzles, and a new girl with her own storyline! Is this the infamous female character that Al was forced to cut from the original 1987 version of Leisure Suit Larry 1? Or am I just making that up entirely to add a sense of mystery? Your guess is as good as mine!"

    Now how's that, guys? ;)

I think I can not up my pledge any higher... its already at $250... anymore and my kids don't eat.

I happily gave my money to Tim Schaffer, because his games are always awesome.

However, if we can just push nostalgia to one side for a moment, Leisure Suit Larry games are mostly terrible.

So Al doesn't get my money. Sorry Al.

I take it you already stopped eating yourself then?

The problem with Leisure Suit Larry games today is mainly that the dead ends you frequently encountered in classic Sierra games are very likely to put you off the games, never to return to them, since games have become extremely cheap and there's so much to choose between. That aside, they feature good storylines, in the vein of many classic 80s and 90s movies and clever humor that's loaded with innuendy, without ever becoming plain vulgar.

Its on its last full day as of right now... So if you're on the fence decide now... Its currently at just under $600,000 they said they will already be adding new click event jokes, they said with $650,000 they would be able to add new locations a new woman with her own storyline. I hope they reach it to make the game a little longer, and while they have Al Lowe and Josh Mandel to write the stuff.

The $750 "walk of fame" tier seemed to be a smart thing to add. I would have loved to have my name commented on by Larry, but even if I did have the money I wouldn't have been able to since I missed it's availability. Those stars sold out fast.

I wonder how much they have including the outside of Kickstarter PayPal donations. I wouldn't be surprised if they were well over $650,000 when you factor in those. :)

I'd be surprised if it was after seeing Shadowrun's results. They're probably around 40K short of that mark.
  • edited May 2012
I dunno... I seem to recall LSL being (fairly) big in Europe.
  • edited May 2012
I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I hope it hits the mark.... Yeah, opposed to the people who want less content in their games, right?

...and yes, my constant self-awareness is starting to annoy myself as well.

They've got the Paypal donation page updated to show how much they made through Paypal. http://www.replaygamesinc.com/leisure-suit-larry-paypal-donations/

They're currently at $621,197 with 18 hours left to go. So close to the $650,000 goal!
  • edited May 2012
I really hope they can raise the $30,000 in 18 hours that they need to add the new girl and storyline... I am actually pretty optimistic it might happen.
  • edited May 2012
$12K to go with over 12 hours left. It's a done deal, $650K for sure.
  • edited May 2012
    8.5K and 10hrs.

I wouldn't call it a sure thing quite yet(I'll stick with "probably")... and it looks like I was right about the Paypal estimate...sadly(at the time I threw 13K onto the total...which I can see now was actually a high estimate).
  • edited May 2012
    $654K and still going.
  • edited May 2012
It's on $663K with a little less than 4 hours to go. I just changed my pledge to $69.69. I wish I could donate more, but I've had a lot of expenditures this last month, and I don't get paid until another couple of weeks.
  • edited May 2012
They reached the amount where they said they would be adding more story and a new girl.

I'm so happy for Al and the team! I'm sure Al will be glad to be writing new Larry material. Especially after being kept out of the Larry Lovage games (at least they had the common sense to not make them star Larry Laffer, which makes it a lot easier to ignore them as not part of the series :)).

Ah, what the heck. I can't really afford it, but new Al Lowe material deserves my money as much as a new Tim Schafer adventure game. I upped my pledge to $100.69. :)

It's up to $666,953 now, including Paypal. There's 3 hours left, and it's almost up to $650,000 on the Kickstarter alone. :)
  • edited May 2012
It HAS reached the $65,000 barrier through Kickstarter pledges.

Yes. It's been over $65,000 for quite some time now. :p

But, seriously. It was at $649,546 on Kickstarter when I posted that. But it is now over $650,000. And it got there pretty quick. That's fantastic. :)

Funded at $655,182 on Kickstarter, Paypal is still going at $18K+. Awesome.
