Apple better not reject this game. I would be literally ticked off if I'd have to go through to get this for my computer(nothing wrong with that, but I dont buy computer games that often). I just hope to god that there's a cheat to get cash since(as I said before) I can't play blackjack to save my life.
I don't see how Apple could reject it. There's already stuff with nudity in the App Store, and there are also already apps there filled with lots of raunchy humor.
But think of the street cred a rejection would give the game...
"Banned by Apple! Play the game that's too racy for the Apple censors!"
I just hope to god that there's a cheat to get cash since(as I said before) I can't play blackjack to save my life.
The save/reload trick still works.
But, beyond that, if you don't want to play blackjack (or slots) at all, the save data can be edited (it's just an xml file). Go to C:\users\yourprofile\AppData\LocalLow\N_Fusion Interactive\LSLR and edit the xml file for the saved game you want to edit. Look for the varID "TotalMoney" and edit it to varInt="9999" for $9999 dollars.
Jen, it sounds like that method works for the PC. Is there a method for the Iphone though for getting a ton of dough?
The iOS is pretty restrictive, so there's probably no way to edit your save files (without jailbreaking it). You'll most likely have to stick to the save/load method on an iPhone.

iOS is restrictive in the sense that it won't let you install stuff without Apple's permission, but if it's storing the data in a file, you can still mount your iPod/Phone/Pad as a file system, so it might be worth a shot as an experiment. I just can't give complete instructions (or guarantee it will work).

It's not like blackjack is some highly strategic game that takes a lifetime to master. There's a mathematically correct play for every situation and you can look those up very easily and even print out a handy little chart if you'd like. People act like blackjack is serious business but playing it is just as stupid as playing a slot machine.
You're still going to lose long-term no matter what even with the charts, but you'll lose the least amount possible. Does anybody know if LSL:R actually modified the statistics/rules so that you have a positive expectation, or are you expected to usually lose and then save/reload until you get lucky?
Apparently this artist worked on the collector's box that many hated
I didn't draw the Collector's Box if that's what you're getting at. It was created by Andy Hoyos. I took it upon myself to offer an alternative. I wasn't allowed to completely remake it, so instead here's what I did in an hour or so in attempt to make it a little more appealing using existing assets:
I sent it to Replay and they liked it more than the original. I still don't care for the drawing or logo, but I felt like SOMETHING needed to be done.
As for the box I created (that you don't seem to care for), I drew that in a few hours I had one night. Could have been better, sure, but it was my first attempt at a Wacom tablet and I didn't have much time, so what can you expect. I'm sorry to hear people are unhappy with the choice, but as a long-time fan of the series, I'm honored they chose it to represent the game.
TK/caenicus- no one can fault you for the fact that particular art was chosen. You did improve upon the existing lousy cover art. You offered your time and deserve thanks for that.
It seems Replay Games is seriously lacking in the visual marketing department. That's not your fault nor the fault of any individual artists, TK.
I'm sorry, but that's embarrassing. Looks cheap. Regardless of the budget, I think they ought to be able to produce better marketing art for a $20 game.
For example, Himalaya Studios/AGDI and Infamous Quests/Adventures do a much better job in this department and with fewer resources.
At first I really struggled with the touch interface. Then, after I learned that you can "hold/long tap" to bring up the verb wheel on any part of the screen, gameplay become became much, much easier.
I'm really loving playing it on my phone.
I just hope they tweak the interface a bit for the next Larry game and also include the option for labeled hotspots.
Just purchased the game now. My god. I love how the game looks. Everything looks great. So far I can't find the password to get through the door at lefty's, but after doing a series of guess the answer to questions I haven't heard of I finally got into the game.
I'll I can say is that I got my butt kicked by the alley goon. Painful to witness.
This game has been slated as one of the worst games ever to be released this year! Reviews of it are not friendly, calling it a relic of the past that should have stayed there, and that no one wants to play as some womanizing pathetic person anymore. Harsh.
This game has been slated as one of the worst games ever to be released this year! Reviews of it are not friendly, calling it a relic of the past that should have stayed there, and that no one wants to play as some womanizing pathetic person anymore. Harsh.
And yet, the overwhelming majority of backers seem absolutely thrilled with it -- it's got a 5-star rating on Amazon and an 8.8 user score on Metacritic. One of the more poorly-reviewed games of the year, yes; but a lot of that I feel is down to the reviews themselves, some of which have been completely ridiculous in their criticisms.
I'm really hoping this game does well, because I'd love to see the next Larry game get a much bigger budget in order to provide lots more animation and areas to explore.
While I loved LSL:R and highly recommend it...
My wish list for the next new Larry game:
-improved interface (a must)
-this goes with previous item, but I'd like the option for labeled hotspots.
-more nudity. A few more bare breasts never hurt anyone. Yes, I said it.
-smoother animation (and more animation in all the scenes)
-more areas to explore
I'm really loving the art of Larry Reloaded book, and the old school big box is great (I'm getting really nostalgic just reading the blurbs on the back).
I'll be wearing the Lefty's shirt quite a bit, I'm sure (I really like the look of Larry on the back of this one, he's got the same design as the cover, but the coloring looks better - I'm still not completely sold on the cover art, but I'll admit it does look better printed than on the screen).
I have been waiting to hear how it sold. I fear it hasn't been a blockbuster (to put it mildly) and might not be able to fund the next without outside funding. But I really have no idea. The silence from Replay has me concerned. They were talking up Larry 2 (or a new Larry adventure) earlier this year, but now... nothing. They are working on some kind of free Larry-themed poker game now.
I also thought it was strange that most of the visual marketing seemed to have little to no "sex appeal." Also, in interviews Paul Trowe seems to go out of his way correct people's perception that this is a "naughty" comedy game. Now, LSL has never been a raunchy game, but the promise of a sexy, risqué comedy romp always made it stand out from the rest and gave it special appeal, I thought. In some interviews I heard it sounded like he was assuring people they wouldn't be offended, rather than saying something like, "you may be offended by some of our content, and that's just how we like it. But it's all innocent fun." I hope they don't neuter the series going forward, if there are to be more games.
I just got my premium Kickstarter Larry loot.

IrishMile (a former TTG community moderator,I believe) mentioned on SpaceQuest.net that Josh Mandel had left months ago. Though maybe I'm interpreting it wrong? Here's what Irish said: " ...but I'm sure you've noticed I stopped volunteering my time with replay months ago without Josh Mandel there it wasn't the same."
I am SO saddened by this news. I am a huge Josh Mandel fan (he did great work on Freddy Pharkas, KQ1 SCI and so many other games), and one of the reasons I looked forward to the new Larry games was to be able to get more of his writing. I don't know if problems caused by Trowe were the cause of his departure, but I wouldn't be surprised, seeing what an unprofessional child Trowe is.
I don't think I could support another Larry game that involved Trowe.
I want Josh Mandel back!
I also really wonder where Al Lowe stands in all this. Al is the only one who could stop Paul in his tracks, I think. But that could sacrifice the future of the series, since I guess Paul's company leased the rights to do remakes. Who needs whom more here? I wonder if Paul has Al by the, you know.
Paul and Al have said repeatedly that Replay has the go ahead to remake the old games, and if those go well, then Codemasters could let them do a new game.
My question: how to excise the cancerous tumor AKA Trowe out of the equation? Could Al do a new Larry game without Trowe (and maybe with Mandel) and another team, possibly with funding from CodeMasters? Is any of this remotely in the realm of possibility?
I and many others want a major new Larry game, done the right way.
I'm just now seeing this, and have tried to avoid the subject for a while, but I think it's worth commenting on given the circumstances.
I can confirm that Josh left the company shortly after the project was over. Josh took over PR duties shortly after a string of events occurred where Paul tried to sabotage other Kickstarters (http://mixnmojo.com/news/Is-Paul-Trowe-of-Replay-Sabotaging-Other-Kickstarters). Josh did a fantastic job. Frankly, I don't know how he did it on top of everything else he did for the game. When he resigned, the situation became clear to me: things would go back to how they were, which is absolutely true as we can see from the latest happenings. So I decided hand in my letter stating I wish to no longer volunteer for Replay shortly after his departure.
Everyone was an absolute pleasure to work with -- Josh, Al, the folks at N-Fusion, and former and current Replay employees and fellow volunteers. The problem fell on Paul, who became abusive to employees and his most loyal fans shortly after the game launched. The example you provided is but one of many. There are also some newer instances where Paul publicly attacked former volunteers and fans on Twitter, one of which made its way to Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/lgbt/comments/1r4flo/paul_trowe_ceo_of_replaygamesinc_leisure_suit/
It's disappointing that the person causing so much destruction and ruining things for everybody is the very person that put this thing together. The only thing that is truly sad about this, in my opinion, is that good people--who put a lot of time, money, and hard work into this project--were hurt by his poor choice of actions. That's the only thing that makes me upset. As for how Paul has treated me, how he took the generous amount of work and money I pledged to this for granted, I'm not even mad. Frankly I think it's hilarious a man in Paul's position would take himself seriously enough to demand respect considering his behavior.
Ok, by now many of you have probably heard about Replay Games CEO Paul Trowe's latest string of nasty, unprofessional behavior, this time dire… morected again at the SpaceVenture project and also his own volunteers and fans who called him out on it. Info here:

Honestly, I'd rather have no Leisure Suit Larry games at all than to have them continued with Replay while Paul's at the helm. The comments he made about a volunteer that are talked about in this reddit thread in particular were just horrible.
"There were many reasons for my departure, including that [2012] incident," Lowe told us, in response to a question about why he was leaving Replay. "As far as I know, Replay Games still has the rights (from Codemasters, owners of the I.P.) to do Leisure Suit Larry games, but they'll have to do them without me."
He also tweeted a comment to Serena Nelson (previous Replay Games forums moderator) in response to her tweet about the supposed original announcement from Al Lowe:
Serena: don't believe the quotes in the article. It was really due to Paul's actions and learning about them from you and all.
I am sick to my stomach that I ever gave him the benefit of the doubt. To me the worst of all are the allegations from years ago described in the NY Times article. Not getting into details of that here, but most of you probably know what I'm referring to. I just learned about that somewhat recently.
Has there ever been an adventure gaming industry figure who has created such a huge, multi-faceted PR train wreck?
I am done supporting anything associated with Replay Games. Done. Done. Done.
I guess they're planning on announcing a new Larry game in January, but I hope they don't plan on Kickstarting it. With the amount of negativity surrounding this departure, I imagine they won't reach their goal.
There was talk of a free Larry Poker game. I wonder if that's it.
I seriously doubt Replay is going to announce a new Larry adventure game. Al Lowe is out. Josh Mandel is out. Has Larry Reloaded sold well enough?
Larry Reloaded felt unfinished, and that wasn't a particularly long adventure game. They would need a much bigger budget to do Larry justice in a new game.
If Larry Reloaded had been a commercial success, I believe Paul Trowe wouldn't be able to shut up about it.
Recently, in one of his online comments, Paul said that, because of people he calls "trolls," there wouldn't be another LSL game.

I read that it was submitted to Apple several days ago, and that Replay is now waiting for Apple to put it up.
I am planning to play on my mobile device and can't wait to dive in!! I keep checking the App Store constantly to see if it's there.
Hurry up, Apple!! :-)
But think of the street cred a rejection would give the game...

It seems Replay Games is seriously lacking in the visual marketing department. That's not your fault nor the fault of any individual artists, TK.
