I think you get a selection at the beginning, but after that you have to buy them. Then again, I really don't know since I decided to be a basher in Oblivion.
There are some spells you can get from quests (finger of the mountain for example).

I'll have to get back to Oblivion at some point. I got through one Oblivion gate and then went to the land of chaos to get killed repeatedly by a giant cyclops.
ok so here is what i think is the right order for me to play by difficulty and gameplay
1.skyrim
2.the 1st?
3.oblivion?
4.daggerfall
5.morrowind
? means i am not sure
Skyrim is the most beginner-friendly. Then Oblivion, then Morrowind. I think Arena and Daggerfall are equally "bad" for different reasons, but Arena really isn't all that discernable as an Elder Scrolls game.

Pretty much, as long as we're talking about what is easiest for new players. "Arena" isn't really necessary, because a lot of what we know as things that define what an "Elder Scrolls" game is show up for the first time in Daggerfall.
In terms of quality, it's hard to say. I think Oblivion is easily the worst and I think Morrowind is the best, but it's hard for me to say whether Daggerfall is better or worse than Skyrim. I'd say it slightly nudges it out, but I'm afraid that I may be biased when talking about Daggerfall.
Lovely. I get to learn if I can make mods for crap or not.
The best way to learn is doing. Get an idea in your head, and just do it. At least that was my philosophy on it, though I'm sure people would find plenty of flaws with it...
I tried to use the Creation Kit that was released for Fallout 3 but it was too complicated for me to figure out, maybe I'll be able to figure this one out.
Plus they are making a wiki page for it, so I can read up too.
Speaking of mods, would the modders have to update their mods everytime a new version of the game is released? I don't have my gaming laptop on me currently and don't know if my few mods (craftable arrows, killable children, and some inventory organization mod) would need to be updated.

That's because it wasn't a Garden of Eden Creation Kit.
Well, that teaches me to do my research more thoroughly. Maybe the instructions decomposed or something then. I was under the impression that those things made everything better instantly without much of a fuss.
So I just hit one of those moments where you are just pure screwed.
A blood dragon attacked Blood Water Crossing, things were looking pretty bad when 2 vampires attacked us. Luckily a second blood dragon came to take care of the vampires. So we had 2 blood dragons surrounding us with fire when a saber tooth tiger jumped out and attacked me, thankfully one of the vampires was alive long enough to kill one of the villagers and revive him as one of his allies to attack it and me.
Needless to say, I did not win that fight.
On an unrelated note, I've had 3 instances of when a dragon didn't give me a soul. There isn't a dragon that doesn't drop souls are there?

Well. I would definitely say that is worthy of an "Oh shit" or two.
Booooooo. Well you at least need a magic absorbing shield then.
I have that spell. Barely use it. BTW I do my best to be as traditional as a mage as possible, so I don't use actual shields and stuff. Its mainly destruction/restoration magic and shouts. I don't find the other categories of spells all that useful unless I'm messing around with them(such as fus ro dah-ing reanimated corpses into any rivers I could find).
Be a sneaky assassin character next time. That was my first character almost by accident and boy was that fun to play. I'm going to really miss one hit killing everything. I only even have armor for that every once in awhile moment when something manages to sneak up on me.

My friends all went for assassin or warrior, I wanted to be original.(They still are baffled to why I am one). I'm told you can get your sneak so high that you won't be seen while crouching. I'm questioning how legit this is, but it makes for good stories when we talk.
Also, get prepared. Tomorrow is the onslaught of crappy retextures on steam workshop.
I'll be joining with my essential tweaks(which I'm sure I'm the only one that thinks they are that) and a Chuck Norris mod where you can brawl him and he has massive knockback. Going to be beast.

Well, where I am, I can pretty much sneak through an entire dungeon and one hit kill pretty much anything except the big bad at the end. Dragons are harder and I'm a somewhat part time potion master to deal with them. I really don't use any magic except the occasional restoration spell. I think they may have been talking about the last perk on the sneak tree, which is if you are in the middle of battle and you suddenly crouch, your opponent will take a moment to look for you, in which case you can try to get in a backstab insta kill thingee. I haven't gotten quite that far yet and I'm not sure it's worth the perk expenditure.

Was it a particularly evil dragon? Maybe it just didn't ever have a soul.
No. There shouldn't be.
Good news "Player.setav dragonsouls *insert number*" is the console command to fix that so its more of an annoyance than a problem for me.
I just unlocked.... Cannibalism. There is a quest in Markaarth that leads to you earning the ability to eat people as long as they are dead.
Kinda funny since that was one of the first abilities I got in New Vegas:p
(Tuesday to be exact)
I already have plans for a mod, which will hopefully add new spells, new items, new dungeons and possibly some newish creatures.
I plan to make a "Gman's essential tweaks" mod.
Hopefully to contain
