I was going to talk about the symphony
By all means, then. :)

Well, I was going to talk about the symphony, but the whole King's Quest derail happened and I forgot about it.

Do tell, do tell.

I'm baffled by how Nintendo

1.) Keeps developing side characters I absolutely adore
2.) Keeps writing theme music for these side characters I absolutely adore

In Skyward Sword, it's Groose. His theme music is awesome.

In Phantom Hourglass, it's Linebeck. His theme music is awesome.
• edited May 2012
I love how they constantly compared Groose to Biff Tannen, but in the end, Groose has become a lovable oaf more than a jerk.

Though in the beginning, he definitely had that Biff attitude.

Groose's theme is extremely similar to the pirate theme in Wind Waker.

But yes, it does fit his character.

Old, but still the greatest thing I've ever read regarding Zelda games post- OOT.

HIRARIOUS.

And true.

So true.

That said, I liked wind waker the most of the 3, TP next, SS sadly didn't get me too excited while playing it.

Skyward Sword is fun, but it wasn't instantly my favorite, like Twilight Princess was.

That being said, he is absolutely right, because I'm not sure how crazy I was about Wind Waker's cel-shaded graphics when I first played it. Now, I love Wind Waker.
• edited June 2012
Wind Waker would be awesome if it wasn't for the retarded sailing. I want an overworld. One of the big reasons why TP is my favourite.
• edited June 2012
Call me crazy, but Skyward Sword is my favorite. Wind Waker loses points because of the boring overworld and that stupid Triforce quest. That's also why I hate Tingle.
• edited June 2012
And yet all the haters will be talking about how great SS is when the next Zelda game comes out.
• edited June 2012
Well, that all depends on what Nintendo decides to do. Heck, for the 3DS one, they're considering Majora's Mask or "something related to Link to the Past". Ah, Shiggy.

A problem with Skyward Sword is that the sky has far less in it of interest than the sea does in Wind Waker. Also, to fly your bird, you have to constantly adjust the angle of your Wii Remote. In Wind Waker, once you set your direction and the wind, barring any enemies/obstacles, you didn't have to move the controller.

I like all the zelda games! :D

(Except maybe Zelda II. Its so... damn.. hard... but then thats kinda why I like it too. (I'm such a masochist. Castlevania is my current dominatrix! XD))

Don't get me wrong. I like Skyward Sword. It's just not my favorite Zelda game.
My favorite Zelda game thus far remains Twilight Princess for Gamecube.

I'm currently playing Twilight Princess for Wii, and I turned the cursor off because 1) having it on forced me to sit at a distance/angle appropriate for pointing frequently at the screen, and 2) while it is on, that blue fairy is always on the screen even when it's not needed, which bothers me.

Skyward Sword gets bonus points over TP for Wii for aiming with the controller's gyroscope instead of the infrared sensor.

My perfect love will always be Majora's Mask.

I am the exact same way. I love the aiming in Skyward Sword, but in Twilight Princess, the pointing just seemed so...finicky. And since I play from my bed, usually with my laptop nearby, any time the laptop blocked the controller, I lost my target.

And I'll be honest. I don't see why anyone has such a problem with the bird flying in Skyward Sword. The only time it got annoying to me was trying to break those targets. Skyward Sword got to the top of my list mainly because of the characters. Going into it, all I kept hearing was that Groose was comparable to Biff Tannen. So, I was fully prepared to hate this big, dumb, bully. Then, halfway through, he turns into a really decent guy that I actually liked! And Zelda. It was so refreshing to see Link have a motivation for rescuing her besides her being the princess. Unlike every other Zelda up until then, Link and her were childhood friends. There was a relationship there and something for Link to actually care about.

I never said anything about Skyward Sword. I hate that about that game as well.

So... am I the only one who actually LIKED the sailing in Wind Waker?

I did, except for that one segment where it was always night.
• edited June 2012
I like it more now than I used to. When Wind Waker first came out, I preferred the idea of having an overworld (ie. Hyrule Field) better, but I didn't hate the sailing. Now, for me, the sailing is what it is and I like its implementation much better than the sky in Skyward Sword.

The game was fine. I enjoyed the islands and the dungeons, even the art style eventually. It's the cheap copout of an overworld to get everywhere that still bothers me. Also, I will never forgive Myamoto for creating Tingle. Never.
• edited June 2012
MI really likes riding his horses on an overworld.

Fair enough though, who doesn't like Epona :)

Well that's Majora's Mask's fault, not Wind Waker's.
• edited June 2012
Wind Waker was a very good game. I wouldn't have had a problem with the sailing if the world had been a little smaller.

I was reading Gannon-Banned today, and it says:
from Gannon-Banned.com
the GCN version has more functionality, including but not limited to full camera control, the ability to do quick spin attacks and charged spin attacks, and flipping off Epona backwards (coolest shit in the game).
While I actually think being able to make Link flourish his sword into its sheath after killing enemies is the coolest thing in the game, the above inclusions to the GCN version do increase its spot for me as the better version.

Although... the Wii version does use widesceen while the GCN does not.

IDK about charged spin attacks, but I've backflipped off Epona on the Wii version.

Yeah, me too. You can also mo...err...get on your horse from behind and Epona'll start running immediately.

Yeah...that still sounded dirty.

I don't get the Tingle hate. Honestly, nothing about the character annoys me. It's like sometimes there are these foreign things that piss people off that have no effect on me.

I love Tingle!

That glorious rupee leeching bastard!

Kolo-limpa! :D

Seriously, I thought he was annoying till I played Tingle Rosy Rupeeland.
Now I get him.
• edited June 2012
Tingle isn't nearly as annoying as Falbi (the guy who runs the Flight-by-Fowl minigame in Twilight Princess). Seriously. The ladder in his house is rainbow colored and everything.

Why does Nintendo have to put flamingly gay people in Zelda games? There's even that one disco dancing guy with the rainbow on his back at Windfall Island in Wind Waker.

Not a fan of the glorious Nintendo IP Captain Rainbow?
• edited June 2012
I don't have issues with rainbows. I don't hate gay people either. What annoys me is injecting the topic of sexual orientation into a video game franchise that I love which has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I mean, Falbi could just be a creepy, effeminate guy, but then they have to paint rainbows in his house and force the topic coming to mind.
• edited June 2012
Really? Because it never occurred to me until you brought it up. And I still don't see it that way.

So is Dodoh gay too? He has a rainbow on his back and everything.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna go with clown.

I always thought Tingle was gay. I mean, he likes to call himself a "fairy" and everything.

I honestly didn't have much of an opinion either way on Tingle at first. In Majora's Mask, he was an odd little man who just happened to sell you maps. But in Wind Waker, his map skills were even MORE necessary AND he charged you out the ass. That is what causes me to grit my teeth any time he's mentioned.
