They are hardly lying, probably just had a setback on game or on getting it on to xbox/playstation. Sure you can be disappointed or even mad. But to act like they are somehow ripping you off is a bit extreme. Game will be out soon enough and before you know it you will be saying when is episode 4

When you pay someone, especially a business transaction and they give you a time of completion and fail to meet it, they don't just go silent and offer nothing.
It's unprofessional,it's disrespectful songs above all rude. And as paying customers we deserve better, and we have the right to demand it
Did the releases of Back to the Future all come out on time? There were some delays, people knew it was possible. Buyer Beware?
I would rather wait an extra couple weeks and make sure bugs are ironed out and game is playable. I think the biggest slowdown is putting the game onto the consoles.
As long as episodes are GREAT, I don't care how much time they need to make them. Is stupid to think that timing is more valuable than quality. Next year the game will be out there and nobody will remember if they failed one or two months, only if the game is good or not. I want to play those episodes as soon as I can, of course, but complaining is worthless.
I just want a good game. Episodes 1 and 2 were terrific. I want more of those, no matter how much I have to wait.
(Although it would be very kind from Telltale if they gave us little updates to calm down our abstinence syndrome)

Relax a little! Telltale hasn't offered nothing, we've gotten 2 great episodes so far so and they are definitely good for the rest. They already gave us an update saying they finished the episode and it's going through verification with microsoft, sony, steam, etc.
Can you explain what you want telltale to do? Do you want them to make another blog post to say "episode has still been submitted, and we're still waiting for the greenlight to put the game online."? Trust me, they want to get this game to us. I'm sure they are dying for us to play it and discuss on here just as much as we are.
TTG aren't being unprofessional at all. I know these last few days of the wait are rough, but theres only like a week left in August so the zombies are coming!

My check cleared! I'm rich! Time to spend my free money! So long, suckers!
I hope this doesn't mean that you allow your underaged kids to play this game?
It is rated M, not for under 17. I get reamed whenever i bring that up, but doesn't anyone have a problem with children playing games that are rated M?
I still say it is stuff like this that really are affecting society, kids take all of this for granted, and view death as nothing big, because they see it constantly on TV and in games. So they become immune and figure people can take a lot of damage before dying and just take magical pills to heal.
Now i am not saying you are a bad parent, but i just hope you do not allow your kids to play these things. If they want to watch that is one thing

no bttf had a few delays ep1 and ep2 had a proper 2 month gap that was confirmed by ttg on purchase/faq.. but it was missed by some including me.. and fans still went apeshit(cos they didn't see it or refused to believe it).

Did the releases of Back to the Future all come out on time? There were some delays, people knew it was possible. Buyer Beware?
IIRC, with BttF, one was one month late, and the rest were on time. That's fine. We tried, we had a reasonable expectation of hitting our deadlines, but some things came up, and delays crept in. Happens to the best of us.
If TWD were in the same situation, I wouldn't bother posting, I'd just be happily awaiting the imminent release of Episode 4, having finished Episode 3 late last month. (That's if they were one month late. If they'd stuck to their promise of monthly releases, I'd have finished episode 4 weeks ago, and would be playing 5 now-ish.)
I would rather wait an extra couple weeks and make sure bugs are ironed out and game is playable. I think the biggest slowdown is putting the game onto the consoles.
Have they not done console releases before? I believe they have. I expect them to know how that works, and factor it in before making crazy promises.
Look, I agree that quality must prevail over release dates. I want that. But here's the thing: I bought the season pass because of the monthly episode promise. Going twice that long between episodes hurts my ability to clearly remember the events of the past episode. Knowing this about myself, I would not have purchased in advance if I'd known the episodes would take over eight months (current best estimate at 2 months/episode) to wrap up.
I'm not saying Telltale is evil, or that they intentionally misrepresented their product. I will almost certainly buy more Telltale games in the future, because TWD is absolutely fantastic. But, when I recommend it to my friends, I also add, "Don't buy it now. Wait until it's done, because the delays are hurting my enjoyment of the game."
Dear Telltale: thank you for making such excellent games as Tales of Monkey Island, Back to the Future, TWD, and especially my personal favourite, the Sam and Max series. In the future, I will assume that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to release dates, and will purchase your excellent products only after they are completed. I hope you understand where I'm coming from, and work hard in the future to restore the faith I once had in your ability to meet deadlines. I'm totally open to believing in you again, but you're going to have to meet BttF levels of reliability before that can happen.

Agreed, i rather prefer quality not quantity !!!!!!!!!!!!
snip - Next year the game will be out there and nobody will remember if they failed one or two months, only if the game is good or not.
I will remember, and i think a lot of the people on the board will remember. When i pre-order something 5 months before the release date, i can accept a delay. Darksiders 2 did this and i wasn't upset. When i purchase something on release day, i expect them to know what they are talking about when they say monthly releases. People on here defend telltale games and say they are a great company, and then turn around and tell others that the purchaser should of done more reasearch. If telltale games is such a great company, you shouldn't have to do a bunch of research to see if they live up to thier promises.
Can one of the mods explain the deal with the tags? The last episode had all kinds of funny ones, but the ones for this thread keep getting deleted and changed around.

That does make a lot of sence:)
I'm a newcommer, so I do not know any better, so they can almost only live op to my expectations, and mabey surprice me positivly:)
Ultimately, the market will take care of this. If TTG continues on a pattern like this, people will refuse to buy the product (either altogether or in advance, both with consequence) and they will correct it or stop producing games. I'd hate to see the latter, as I have bought 4 titles with them, beginning with Monkey Island.
Quality control arguments only go so far - I had a few major glitches on PC at the end of EP2, so I don't completely buy it. Releasing on all platforms simultaneously also doesn't make sense - if console systems punish their users by demanding additional testing, why should PC users suffer? The claims of those elements being superior, and thus a lack of PC development, have been going on far too long so why should we be held to the same delays they are without cause?
Ultimately, it is an issue of management. They aren't managing anything well - not the product cycle, not their PR, not their cash flows. And that is impacting their games and relationship with at least some (and growing) segment of their customer base.
Which is sad. Because they produce great games on stories we all like to visit again.
Sigh.....the fact we even have to play a guessing game for this is just dumb!
People, it's good business to have specific release dates. Even if you have to delay it to another specific release date, it gives confidence to fans and will sedate their rage if it is delayed. Especially if you give specific and understandable reasons like "fixing bugs" or "reviewing the build and need extra work"
I remember reading something about trying to make sure it releases for everyone at once. Maybe that's the issue. But still the silence part is kind of sketchy. I keep reading more tales of the company and from what it seems they do this with every game and have a reputation to up hold. Which is cool,
You've got a long while and with the time you've given Me I've decided to wait for the entire game. So me and my new spray can of air will be here on the night before Christmas and if I don't have at least two more episodes I'm gonna make a nice pot of coffee and take it with me to where ever I have to go to come play with YOUR presents. Because that was MY birthday gift from my mother even though I had to pay her back and she doesn't fucking remember that part. Maybe you'll get a nice remote control car, or even a real car! VVVROOM...
================ S P O I L E R====================
I got stuck in a loop when you have to talk the mother into calming down instead of shooting the girl. I said "put the gun down bitch!" and got blown away. From there it restarts and your in the same situation, only it wouldn't let me say shit this time id just get shot as soon as she'd finish her sentence... "Blah blah....I mean it!" shed just point and shoot even If I* put the controller down. After repeating about 5 times I finally rewound the scene in the chapter and it played through fine. So who ever you have testing your games doesn't give every option a try I take it. And they take too long if this is the case here.
Okay, so like I don't even know where to start. Okay I guess I will just say this. What the heck is taking so long for episode 3!?!?!? For the last month I've been checking every weekend to see if it is out! But yet no episode 3. The story line is so well put together I'm really looking forward to what's going to happen next! I mean I understand the cost for patches and the Q&A processes with downloadable content games! But COME ON MAN! I'm like seriously looking forward to episode 3! Can someone please fill me in why it's taking so long for episode 3? Like link me to a video or a note written by developer stating why it's taking so long. Is there a community manager who can answer my question?
I remember a time when I thought I would play and finish all episodes of this game before season 3 of the show came out. I seriously doubt that will happen now...
There's a thread stickied at the top of the forum. Most of it's bullshit and whining, but an important bit states that the game has been completed and is still in the hands of Microsoft and other companies who are doing a final pass of some kind and then will distribute it. You're probably better off checking the thread for it yourself if you want to know more. So far, it's a murky 'soon'.

what he said also episode 3 has to be rated by the countries film and video games rateing angancy witch puts another little annoying delay
Not a regular poster, just popped in to say "wtf Telltale"? Great game, absolutely rubbish service from what could otherwise be a pretty successful (and respected) developer.
I hadn't heard much about them before they took on The Walking Dead, but I'm convinced that I will never ever pay for a product from them, even if it means missing out. I honestly suggest all people report Telltale to any relevant authority who may cover them under consumer law. As customers we have a right to what is advertised, and if they can't deliver then they should be offering either full or partial refunds!

Its delayed, because of PS and MS and some other buls**
When and If season two comes out I think I'm going to wait till theyre all released before I buy and play them. The anticipation makes it exciting when you finally play but it's also very frustrating and annoying
to the best of my knowledge thats when this game was supposed to be out. and the the middle of august is the 11th through 20th. it is now the 22nd. did i miss something? because i still cant play it. Also, i see alot of people complaining about the game taking FOREVER to comeout, but your complaining for the wrong reasons. im complaining because at this point I DONT EVEN REMEMBER WHAT CHOICES I MADE OR HALF OF WHAT IS GOING ON.
lol true that this series is good but its starten to prove how unreliable tt is at given time frames next time they should just tell us its comming in a month and then drop it pn us earlier eitherway this series has me annoyed simply because it was hyped to be a monthly series its turnin into a bi monthly series very annoying. eitherway i got plenty of stuff to keep me busy and entertained just im simply done with this company after this series or at least next time ill buy their games after they are fully released .
well i guess mid august is now out of the quistion as i think mid august is from the 12th to the 21st august oh well i hate the long gap between episodes why can't they just release it as a one big game instead of episodes

i'd finisht the episodes in almost 3-4 hours both of them!
i dunno if mods are deleting the new threads or have culled the new members who have been doing that on here but we seem have some rare silence at the mo!
next time don't tell your kids till you know it's out
maybe you should of waited till they're older...
Why should I have waited until they are older? They are fans of the walking dead comic, and tv show, and now the game. In fact we have met 1/2 the cast from the tv series and had them sign our season 1 Blu-Ray box. They also love video games and in fact they were the ones who told me about the video game being released to begin with, so I didn't have a choice in not telling it wasnt out.

I agree. Like the saying goes, out of sight, out of mind.
I'm sure sales of each episode would go down naturally, but the longer the wait the lower the sales, I would imagine.
And not so much out of hate but people just forgetting about it. Even big games like Mass Effect 3, more than half of players never finish.
So, with a game you didn't buy all at once, it's even worse. You could lose more money.
