oh yeah and i vote for not only office to stay, but also having the hall way, i think Telltale have learned that all those skipping around empty locations are bad, i always hated how they always like Teleport in sam and max, just having the stairs inside and hallway adds alot, and give room for even more crazy stuff :) im sure there is lots of wierd things going on in even their own building.

I've said this in favour too, also is anyone else interested in seeing the Kitchens in Stinky's for season 3?

Okay, for people who think Season 3 is vaporware, I think this post pretty much dispels that rumor.

My only complaint with this (other than the obvious release date being pushed back) is I'm concerned with the sheer volume of lisences they're working with. They will have to expand (or can some of the series) and if they expand that means they will need a larger payroll and they will raise the price of their games... Also untill they expand they will be spreading themselves thinner and thinner and taking longer on games or sacrificing quality...

Actually they've done everything they've done so far while constantly expanding. A few years ago they were only 15 people and now they're something like 55 or 60. This is the third office they've grown into, and even with the recent hires over the last few months they still have positions on their jobs page that have yet to be filled. And they did all this without having to increase the prices of their games. Telltale is a new company, but it's a lot got a lot of game industry veterans working for and running the company; I think we can trust that they know how to grow their Telltale wisely.

Hehhh... I think he was saying that with irony. You know, saying he wasn't sure but actually he was? That looks like to me.

(By the way, even Steve Purcell said there's already work about season 3. I don't remember the exactly post, but I think is in the ToMI print post in the ToMI forum).

I know they said at Pax that some people left behind, so there was work being done on season 3.

So, yeah Season 3 is hopefully coming soon, so I can play it.

You know, I jsut had a GOOD thought about this for once...

Maybe, just baybe, they are doing all this work on S3 so that they will have it all finished (or nearly finished) at one time so tehy can release them on schedule, doing little more than fixing little bugs between S3E1's release and S3E2's release, etc...?

Never say never, there was this company, it probably not well known, it was named Lucas Arts, there were the kings of Adventure games, but suddenly some wise person told them, (hey adventure gaming is dead and starwars IN!) and then they canceled it all and made alot of Starwars games to milk the cow for money and waste their skills.

I always considered Sierra the kings of Adventure games; They had series with 6 or 7 games and a few stand alones. They even started making adventure games before Lucasarts (King's Quest in 1983). Don't get me wrong Lucasarts did pretty good too but I never considered them big as Sierra (although they had less bugs in their games than sierra did.)

And someone suggested Telltale making another Indiana Jones adventure game. The Problem with that Idea is that series has been converted into the next 'Tomb Raider' series and I can't see Lucasarts wanting to go back into the adventure category when it's easier to stick with what they have now. But I do think that would be awesome. I loved the Last Crusade and the Fate of Atlantis games.

Until they do something to prove otherwise, have some faith. Telltale hasn't really let us down before, there's no reason to assume they will start just because they're growing. Not every company sacrifices quality as they grow in size. Look at entertainment companies like Blizzard, Bioware, Pixar - these companies have gotten enormous compared to their beginnings, but they always ensure that any product they put out with their name on it is as high quality as possible. Not everyone makes the same mistake that Lucasarts did - particularly not companies that started out *because* of the mistakes Lucasarts made.

    So, y'know...worry less.

Something is IN the works, that's for sure. I'm sure Telltale will announce something not too far in the future. In fact, it is very likely that before ToMI episode 5 is released, we'll know something (There is a certain holiday that's big in the US coming up this month...)
Whether that something is an existing license, a new license or a new IP...

I agree with you 100% that, when I think of sierra I think of their adventure games, and they were the king. Lucas arts did make quality adventure games, but siera did continue their series for a lot longer and hardly cancled a series except for LSL, and SQ7 But all in all. Lucas arts are doing and developing their franchises.

I was really looking forward to LSL8. Then we got Magna Cum Laude instead, which got dubbed by many as LSL8. I enjoyed it but it was nothing like the humorous adventure game of old. Just repetitive arcade games bordering on interactive porn.

I do hope TT tries to get a licence and succeeds, with Al Lowe aboard.

Didnt somone just continue the LSL fanchise? I'd sware I saw it in a PC magazine somewhere...

I agree, sierra was the king of Adventure games. I loved Quest for Glory and SpaceQuest (kings Quest was ok, but the puzzles absolutely baffled me at times...)

1That might just be the pathetic Box Office Bust, which abandons everything in previous incarnations. It was finished by another developer then published by Vivendi.

2You're right. Thanksgiving can hardly be connected to any of the games.

Point A. Magna Cum Laude and Box Office bust will never be considered Leisure Larry games, they are just the same the American Godzilla movie and should never be spoken of again, and I just did..so I'm flogging myself for that.

Point B. Thanksgiving would be an awesome time to give us an announcement on Sam&Max, they like stuffing their faces, and I'll be stuffing mine...which brings me to think that...we won't hear anything about it til December.

Point C. I love making points.

    Err... Back to the thread;

I find it really weird that even though there is nothing abnormal with this long time we've been waiting for S&M S3, we're given no official information whatsoever. You know, they published some trailers before S1 started being published, so S2 got a nice trailer either, but if S3 is going to be out in December we should have had a trailer or an official statement by now, at least. Dunno, 3 weeks later and it's December, and people are still trying to hunt down some clues hidden in interviews or pseudo-official writings like that to determine whether it's even REAL or not.

Not necessarily. Tales of Monkey Island was only announced a month before it was released. I do remember hearing that nothing new will be announced until Monkey Island is finished, but I don't remember where.

We know it because some developers mentioned about working on it, like, "...aah well we also work on S&M S3, no big deal, anyway let's talk about Monkey Island again..." in some interviews. It's still not officially announced. You can't see any lines about it in Telltale's site, I mean...

When they announced Monkey Island you could purchase it right away..which was pretty smart and worked quite well, maybe they will do the same with Sam & Max? So that way they can take advantage of the news

They can't release S3, as the developers said in an interview I can't remember where from, they would get really bad sales from December, because they can't compete with the market at the hectic time of Christmas.

No words on that. I already said that the time we've been waiting for S3 to come is understandable. I never said they should be releasing it now anyway, I'd like to have a polished up game after all.

What I tried to say is, a trailer or even a screenshot would be so great to hype the fanbase out a lil...

Yes, the model they used with ToMI was great - I bought in instantly, for sure :)

That also makes sense - both Season 1 and Season 2 skipped December, AFAIR.

So we're looking at *maybe* a jan-31ish release if we're lucky... (based on the post you quoted originally about the trailor comming ~3 weeks before the series)

Oh sure! While your waiting you might want to track down some yetti and UFOs... I would bet money against S2 of SBCGFAP, I'm clinging to a single thread of hope on S+M S3, but personally with the silence from official sources and a lack of proof arts of any kind... If it's not released by july I'm joining the Vaporware camp... you'll notice there has been NO official responce from TTG in this thread... Keep in mind the reason LucusArts dropped S+M; it's a niche game genre to begin with (MMOs and FPS are practically all that's popular today) and then you go into the niche and find and even smaller niche that will, in fact, offend a lot of people NOT in the niche... Fiscally it's hardly responcible; flagship series or not. I may be pissed about not getting a new S+M season every Jan 1st (hell I'd like to have an epp a month. forever. period.) but I dont blame them at all if they drop the series for soemthing more popular and more profitable. I mean, yes, this is a nice colelction of fans here... go look at STEAM or Blizzard communities...

i;m sure somone is going to give me a lecture now about TTG being different and not caring about what's popular. frankly, I'm of two minds. Personally, I want to see S+M games. I dont give a knat's bee-hind about the others unless they should aquire the rights to Spacequest, Kingsquest, Indyana jones, or quest for Glory. Otherwise but I'm just glad somone is reviving th epoint-and-click genre. I dont care if they make spongebob and twilight games as long as they're point-and-click adventures (granted I would never even play a free sppisode of one of those games, but...). I want to see them succeed and be as financially sound so they keep encouraging people to revive this genre!

(Now if only some big player would re-start Interactive fiction... )

Nah. I'm not saying Telltale is totally different: They are a company and they have to survive. But at the same time you are totally narrow the perspective: There's a part (A big part) of the consumers which is totally ignored by the Today's Game Industry. Part of them are this point and click adventure gamers who wants that games again. Telltale is serving a part of consumers who aren't satisfy with MMO or FPS and/or wants that kind of games back. If they are a niche, well, looks like they are a very profitable niche (I'm suscribed to their Jobs RSS, and they still have open positions ^^!).

About Season 3, well, at least I can get about how they work, they develop like 2 games at the same time. Now they are working in Monkey Island and then must be working in the release for the first semester of the next year. In what they are working I have no idea, and I hope they will revealed soon. If it's Sam and Max Season 3, just I hope. But with all those hints there and there, sounds fairly possible is Season 3. But, like everyone else, I have no idea.

Being as it is Telltale's second most popular episodic point and click franchise, I say we have some pretty good chances. But like Telltale have being suggesting they could aqquire a new franchise, improve the ones they have that aren't selling as well as S&M, or start an original franchise of their very own (this would be really interesting and I would consider buying it).

WHat ever telltale does I will support them whether it be a new franchise or S&M. I guess we will have to wait and see what they are releasing after tales is done, I'm hoping it will be Sam&Max, but thats for them to decide honestly.

All I know is that I'm a fan, and I will support their decision even if it clashes with mine. I'm just a fan.

Personally, I want a month of hype and speculation after the announcement of a new S&M season, the same as there was around Tales. Let the new fans that came in for Tales get a taste of what's to come with Sam and Max, trailers, concept art, the whole shebang. So I think offering a pre-order deal in December (so people can still ask for the game for Christmas) with the actual release in mid to late January (so people can afford to buy the game after Christmas) would be ideal. Then again what do I know from marketing?

    Post-Holiday sales are bad.

Pre-ordering is not selling as well on Holidays. Guess people want to spend their holiday with more than an IOU a Game paper :D

TTG shouldn't miss out on the Holiday if they are even a tiny bit of smart :D
And they wont! Promise. (Just doesn't make sense really.)

Well, considering Deadly Intent is marching towards the shop shelves, I would imagine it's full steam ahead for the development of Season Three. However, I think Telltale will miss 2009 for S3.

I predict a formal announcement with trailer within two weeks after the release of ToMI 105 (i.e. around Christmas), with episodes being released from late Feburary. Then Telltale announces a more serious franchise for release from July.

I expect nothing from the best, with season 3. But I've noticed a trend with threes. Ex: PA3, Half Life Episode 3, and Sam&Max season 3. There is no, word of them, and they are kept in the dark..but I have no fear, that Sam&Max will be back, and I know it will be worth the wait.
