Lol, I just paid for it and it's not showing up in my Games list. I'll try restarting Steam.

EDIT: Ah, that did the trick. Damn dude, I didn't expect it to be a 2 gig download. I wish they let us do a preload. Now I might have to wait until after work. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to playing this bad boy!

How much does it cost in the US or in other countries?
  • edited July 2009
    €8,99 in europe

They even let it out 5 mins early... I'm not keen on Steam but I <3 them for that :-)

I like 2gig download. It'll take me about an hour and a bit, but i'm willing to wait that long for there to be a good enough quality to it.

    $9.99 in the US

i must say im still stunned how damn cheap this game is 8.99€ its so TOO CHEAP! :D

this better sky rocket to the top on steam and xbl, pretty please, so we can get more remakes.

    Downloading.. :)
  • edited July 2009
Loved that they let it out abit early ;)
  • edited July 2009
I cant understand. I keep hearing that to make 2d games like Curse of MI want big budget. SMI:SE is similar but with even HD graphics and is so cheap 8.99. Why is that?
  • edited July 2009
It probably won't run on my crappy notebook, but as it is only 8,99 bucks...
I would buy it immediately if the Steam site weren't so slow right now.
After all the other impatient fans are finished with their downloads I'll give it a try.
  • edited July 2009
    done downloading, :D

    2,41 GB (2.590.966.186 bytes)
    147 files, 4 folders

    let get started !
  • edited July 2009
Because when you get right down to it, there isn't really a whole of animation in MI1. Certainly less than you would accept if it was a new game.
  • edited July 2009
Is it going to be released as a sraight download - i.e Not through steam or d2d? I want to be able to run it without this extra software...
  • edited July 2009
    WTF 2 GB!!!!!!!!!

Isnt that insane!?!? Im still not happy that i cant own the game physically! i also hate i had to register to Steam, and that im obliged to be subscripted, which i believe is an imposition.

I prefer the old school way and own the game. I hope in the future they do release it!

There will probably be no DRM in the d2d version of it. I have got a couple of games off of them in the past, and you don't even have to download it with their download manager :)
  • edited July 2009
The download goes slow i only get a speed of 2.1 MB/s it has taken me 20 min to download this game. They need to update their server so we can get a better download speed.
  • edited July 2009
In the future though, i hope they will take advantage of Steams cool preload feature :)
  • edited July 2009
15% download, im definetly gonna take my time playing the game and watching everything. I also gonna take my time observing the commentary in all environments
  • edited July 2009
downloading, 70%. I wonder why it's so big? Did they use .bmp files for the backgrounds? Or do they support resolutions up to 1200p? How big is the 360 Version?
  • edited July 2009
the 360 version is around 500mb.

2GB is pretty intense...It's probably not something I'd want to keep installed when I already have all of the old games at a fraction of that size.
  • edited July 2009
My guess is high quality voice / sound and music, that isnt compressed, very little to none perhaps :)

this isnt just a few hour games, this is likely as long as the whole season of Tales of monkey island put togther, depending on if you played it before and how much you use hint system.
  • edited July 2009
    33% download...
I'm as excited as a kid waiting for Santa Claus :D:o
  • edited July 2009
2GB is pretty regular for games nowadays. Even on Steam. Left4Dead and the Half-Life games are up there around that size. I expected it to be as much with the HD graphics.

0 time necessary on actual game/puzzle/story design, map layout, etc since this was already done 20 years ago.

The only real design work that needed to be done was to come up with the new art design, and then create that new art and implement it. (Not completely disregarding any programming work associated with porting to HD, creating a new engine, etc) Still a time-consuming task, but not nearly as much as designing all of the above completely from scratch.

There is also probably not going to be any elaborate CMI-like 2D cutscenes, other than still close ups with minimal animation, as that takes MUCH more time/money.

I'm waiting for someone to make a "It doesn't has to be so friggin' uncompressed" petion :p

I dont go on rants. But its too much space for a game to be permanent on my 80GB hard disk. Definetly it wont stay there too much. Im new to this Steam stuff im wondering if i can redownload it again.

Its just to much space for my baby Hard disk and i only got 10GB free. So if we make a new topic it would be about making donations for my new Hard Disk of 2 TB

Thanks for the link. But, for me, it doesn't work right now ?

Edit : It works if I choose US Region. But, it seems the website choose the UK one for me.

Because on the US website you can read : This product is only available for purchase in the United States and Canada.

So far, there's no other PC download method besides Steam and Direct2Drive?
    Even in the LucasStore itself?
  • edited July 2009
Actually yes, Steam often does give temporary discounts on new releases.

Actually yes, Steam often does give temporary discounts on new releases.

and this mostly on weekends, so checking Steam on weekends may give you the opportunity to save some money. Maybe they'll release a LucasArts-Box with all of the games offered on Steam, but they wait until all of LucasArts' plans of remakings are used up.
