Nah, I think the Special Edition's model is more fitting to the description of "Woman in big hat"; that hat is BIG.

Wait, what? Review copies? So there's gonna be some reviews soon? Sweet.

I doubt it. There's usually an embargo :)

    Haha, yeah. A Largo embargo.

I can't stop saying pooper dooper after that trailer

Not sure about Largo voice, what did you guys think?
  • edited May 2010
Everything looks better than MI1 in every single way, and I believe this will be the best game of the whole series when it's released.

And yeah, I actually like all of the voices in this one...except for Largo. He just sounds like the V.A just thought Largo was dumb and read all of his lines in the same tone. I could be wrong though, since I've only heard about three lines. Anyway, is that Nikki Rapp voicing Kate Capsize? I stated a few months back that I would've liked that because of many thinking Morgan LeFlay would be Kate in the first cliffhanger of TMI. And yeah, looks like they've managed to nail the voice acting and casting for this installment, Earl Boen, Leilani Jones Wilmore, Dominic Armato, Alexandra Boyd, Neil Ross, Pat Pinney, William Katsen, Phil LaMarr, Roger L. Jackson, Wally Wingert, plus more!!!

Absolutely can't wait to play this!!! Here's hoping gameplay videos are to follow on a regular basis...

I've asked for a review copy. I hope LucasArts are like Telltale and give it to me!
  • edited May 2010
And would you look at that! They haven't messed up Stan's sign this time!

Not sure about Largo voice, what did you guys think?

It seemed off to me too, but we also didn't hear much of it. Maybe hearing the whole performance will put it in a better light.

Um, you just asked for it? Do you have to be a qualified reviewer to actually do that?

I think the SE version is better, no offense but her hat, face, and body fit her better than your version.
  • edited May 2010
I like the SE kate. But I like your elaine better though.
  • edited May 2010
It looks like the game is practically done already, they're probably just looking for bugs at this point. I'm just guessing though.
  • edited May 2010
This looks really good. I get such a nostalgic and good feeling with this, strangely I didn't feel it with the SMI SE...

All the unseen before art from the video
So besides the shot of LeChuck's fortress we've pretty much seen everything now. I must say, I looks even better as a video with voices than just as screencaps. It's like an animated film.
  • edited May 2010
Oh wow... That game looks GORGEOUS! This should blow the first SE out of the water!

I really like that Lucasarts seems to have listened to the feedback from the first SE and corrected it. Always nice to know that our opinions matter!

Just shows that all our moaning and whining really paid off :)
  • edited May 2010
Managed to pause the video a just the right time to see how the verbs work.

That's better than in mi1:se, definitely!

I wonder if it pops up when you click on the object?

Not only are LA listening to the big problems fans had with the first, they also seem to be taking every opinion of each fan and applying that to the game somehow.

For example, someone posted a thread on the lucasforums a while back about how a man of low moral fibre had a really awkward sleeping animation, in the promo video, they've improved it. Not too much, but there is a bigger difference in his two frames now.
I also remember when the woodsmith background was posted, one fan commented that the view outside the door didn't match Woodtick, and that was fixed in the video that got leaked a month or so ago.
Makes me wonder how much more of the game LA decided to improve because of the fans reactions.

Actually this forums are greatly reviewed by LA and that's the beauty of Internet. Remember last year they released the video immediately so any potential whining from fans could not be handled in time. This time, they played a trick and released all sorts of stuff sequentially to see if their choices where the correct ones. I would not be supprised if by the actual release the clothing of Elaine is violet again!! (its just some sprites anyway) which is not difficult to accomplist. Also all our whining about the metal bars instead of roots at the beginning of the game proved LA up to the task. It's a sad fact that Rodriguez left LA but I think the powering force in these re-editions and new adventure games to come is Craig Derrick and he will live up to the task and will give us more and more in the years to come! The video is thrilling as all say, the voice acting is simply amazing and the animations are excellent. It's great that they found a way to incorporate the iMuse system in a digital form because it would really be a shame. By the way. Craig Derrick even mentions that MI2 IS the BEST game in the series so there goes all the polling. LOL. I aggree with everyone that the dissapointment with no offence to the voice actor is Largo. he sounds too..... I dunno very off as Largo. The cook, the "retired pirate", all others sound really spot on. Largo sounds just weird although as most have said we do have to listen to the whole thing to judge although I doubt it will change our opinion much. Also see how they tortured us with the Tree song and just flipped to the old one without singing just in time for us to hear what happened. Damn.. that was cruel. By the way, I was never really into Doms' voicing for Guybrush, no offense he is great just I was thinking of a different voice into my head, although he did deliver excellent in all games regardless of this and he is great, but the scene where Guybrush jumps and sees Lechucks' costume proves me 1000 times wrong. WAY TO GO DOM! :))

Where did you get the high quality video footage from? I get only a low resolution (420x235) version of it, where I can barely tell the difference between the old and the new graphics.

Indeed. I like that very much. I wish, they would also update MI1SE, but one thing after each other. They should take all the time they need, of course.

And then, only one thing is still missing: Announce the retail DVDs alright. Pretty please with sugar on top?

I don't get why people have a problem with Largo's voice.

I love it when stuff does that!

Just be glad Largo doesn't sound like Sadwick from Whispered World.
  • edited May 2010
No, Largo's voice didn't sound right to me either. But I'm sure I'll get used to it. At least I hope I will :).

Governor Phatt's voice sounded very different to how I would've had it sound. But the voice they choice for him actually sounds good. Unexpectedly different... but good!

Largo's voice is cool. It sounds like the old guy from Pixar's UP.

I liked the way Dom played around with Largo's voice... It would've been perfect if LA would have let Dom have two roles: Guybrush and Largo. Talking with himself could have been a blast :D

    Already happened, Trial & Execution...

...but yeah, two separate roles would have been even better.

Yeah, that one is awesome. It really fits the animation too. It's one of those things that made me really laugh out loud and makes me want to play this game immediately. I also like the voice of Herman asking that funny riddle a lot.

It is great to see the making of. Those people are doing everything to make it faithful to the original (which is not easy). I was really facinated by seeing the music department in action.

The game is going to be a masterpiece!

(They should make the "bone song" scene a little bit more darker red, though. Now it looks like it is glowing and doesnt fit with the dark sprites. But that's not a big issue.)

I'm actually quite curious to hear what the angry chef will sound like. I always liked messing with him.

I just want to say that I am glad that they made all the annoying mistakes in SMI:SE so that they could make LR:SE look so good! The game looks really fine, I really look forward to play it.

You and every single other person here, DinghyDog. I agree with it looking incredibly good. I never really had much of a problem with anything in SoMI:SE, but I do admit that LR:SE looks a lot better already (from what we've seen - which is basically everything). All of the character designs have stayed quite true to the originals (barring a few), which I am very happy about, and the locations are set out almost identically to the originals.

It'll be so good to see it all in full-screen and with voices when the game is released. It should be great!

I never really had a problem with SOMI:SE either but after seeing how good LR:SE looks and all the extras they have id love to see those added to SOMI:SE in an update.

Just take Guybrush's head from MI2SE and paste it onto SMISE Guybrush.
  • edited May 2010
Hmm, after this comes out, I might have a go at doing just that...
