Their positive points mention plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, (which MI2 also has) Inventive, satisfying puzzles (which MI2 also has), a new hint system which lessens frustration (which MI2 also has), loads of well-written characters to interact with (MI2 has tons more characters) Look behind you, a three-headed monkey (which MI2 has at some point). They mention that they like the HD visuals (MI2:SE's visuals are tons better)
The only negative point is that there is no option to have voices with the classic mode. And guess what MI2:SE has as a feature!! Along with Developer Commentary, an Art Gallery, a better voice cast (by the looks of the video), an iMuse system (hopefully!) and added animations (i.e. Guybrush's idle animations), I could see Gamespot putting this in the 9.0-10.0 range.
What's everyone elses predictions?
-3 Weeks to go!
What sort of predictions? We know most of the fact now! But... I'll be surprised and pleased if it's 800 MS points on 360 again. It's just such a bigger game and with the extra features like the commentary the next pricing tier of 1200 ($15) seems like it's justified.
And aside from the ones already mentioned... we also haven't seen (as far as I remember, though I could be wrong on a couple before anyone posts any smart-ass contradictions; I'm just going from the top of my head):
Booty Island Costume Shop
Just sayin'
Weren't Sam & Max in that costume shop? I'm guessing they'll be replaced since they were in the first special edition outside of the monkey head. I wonder who will replace them...Purple Tentacle perhaps? Maybe someone else...
Oh, and if it really is only $10 like MTV said...holy cow! I would have thought more, too. but then again I'd pay anything for this.
I actually meant predictions of how do we think the game will be reviewed. Hopefully, and likely, excellently!
Do you guys think you're going to to another mojo podcast after MI2 is out btw? As in all of you mixnmojo guys together? I don't think there's been a podcast since MI2 was announced, and since this is sort of officially (for now) the series' closure...
Looks like we will be seeing MI pics today.... cool.
from facebook
To be honest, I couldn't care less about new screens anymore. I think we're getting way too many. Half of the fun of playing a remake is seeing how the old places look with new coating, and we've been shown almost everything already. I just want the game now, thank you. Thank god we haven't been oversaturated with the music yet.
I guess it was ambiguous and I always assumed it was a guy....
Chester was the (actual) nickname of Khris Brown, who started in LucasArts' product support department and went on to do voice editing work there. She now has her own voice production studio.
I think they should have hired Khris to do the voice for Chester.
Ok, they've either delayed LucasArts or cancelled them, they haven't been on Gamespot's live feed yet, and I've had the page on since before the show started.
I don't understand Gamespot at all. Their review praises almost every aspect of the game and only has one bad thing to say about it and all they give it is an 8? What, just because it has a great story with witty dialogue and a heroine who is actually intelligent, but no plumber who has to save a starry eyed moron princess for the 100th time, they can't give it a better score? I feel game sites such as those favor other titles simply because of the franchise they come from, even if there are franchises like Mario where there is zero story and just the same premise over and over. Monkey Island should be seen as just a good a game, but in a different regard. Specifically, actually having a great story, fleshed out characters, daring twists, and laugh out loud dialogue.

My awful connection made the stream pretty much unwatchable, but what I saw was great. Only thing I could really make out from the audio was Guybrush's "Oops, I think I broke the sign". Still no idea how iMuse is going to sound!
The video'll probably be up on youtube or something tomorrow anyway. Hopefully along with a gameplay video with gamespot like last year.
Imagine if they made a short CGI movie like the one in the teaser, that would be so cool, but i do pefer how he looks in the CGI then in the game...it looks more tales style.....but what i got to say i soooooo badly want that voodoo doll of Guybrush that they showed at E3
I don't know, it was hard to tell underneath the talking going on, and of course they brought up the commentary at the worst time. But from what we could hear, it seemed like his voice was wrong at some points and spot on at others. Keep in mind, it's been 13 years since Neil Ross last voiced Wally.
great i will finish the secret of monkey island before buy this one (anyone wanting a curse of monkey island remake?)
Some people do and some don't.
But it don't really need a remake, just some minor upgrades would be ok.
Bigger screen solution, improved sound quality and make it run on Windows XP/Vista/7 without ScummVM or other programs.
And maybe include some of the cutscenes that had to be cut because of budget issues.
How an you still swap seamlessly from SE to classic if they have added more frames to the SE?
They might have added frames of animation to the classic version. After all, they did manage to get rid of those unnecessary pauses between lines without having to manually speed up the text speed in the classic mode.

No no no no. Don't be silly. They haven't touched the classic version. That goes against everything they wanted for the classic version. It's not hard to program in additional animation frames for replacement graphics in between the regular frames of animation on the original game.

They could still have changed the animation frames of the classic version to repeat the existing frames, so that both version have the same number. Although I think, they've solved it in a more elegant way.
Interesting interview video. So it's official that they do listen to us nitpicking fans. That's great.
I can't really comment on the music. The video is far too noisy for that. I can recognize some melodies, but that's about it.
The new interface looks more comfortable indeed, but I'm a bit worried if the game becomes too easy by that change. It looks as if the popup menu only shows the verbs which actually have a script, so unusual possible actions would pop right into the players eye.
I wonder, will we get an enhanced MI1SE too? They did backport the enhanced MI2 interface to MI1 after the initial release once already. So may history repeat itself here, please? And while at it, I really would like to have the forest music fixed.
Anyway, MI2SE is definitely my most anticipated release since years. The waiting for it feels like forever. The game seems quite complete. Are they teasing us by not releasing it right now?
I wouldn't worry about the interface making it too easy; this is MI2 we're talking about. Where you have to
use a banana on a barely visible background object, so that you can pick up a monkey, so that you can use said monkey on a water pump to turn off a waterfall.

Oh well, there's always IGN at 3:20PDT.
What are you talking about?

BTW, sorry for the double post, wanted to bump this thread.
:P
Although what I saw of the audio commentary was pretty cool.
and TrueAsh - Awesome avatar!! I love Totoro!
The video'll probably be up on youtube or something tomorrow anyway. Hopefully along with a gameplay video with gamespot like last year.
That's bloody awesome. We get more of the theme, too!
They're putting a demo video of Monkey 2 up on their site soon.

 I watched that whole thing.....
Yeah... me too. Not much to do with Monkey Island. All they did was a fleeting mention of its name.

I watched about the first minute, and realized I'd rather wait.
I'm so damn excited for this.
I don't think so. Probably a voice in the background got mixed up with Wally's.
