If Buzz Lightyear thinks he is the real Buzz Lightyear, why does he pretend to be a toy when Andy plays with him?

I get the feeling that ADD isn't over diagnosed so much as there is an issue with the way we feed ourselves as a society and, not to say there aren't false diagnosises of ADD, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was legitamatly on the rise like child onset diabetes.

My mother - having worked with children age 3 to 6 for 25 years now - is convinced that ADD/ADHD is extremely overdiagnosed in children who were just plain raised wrongly by their parents. The ability to concentrate gets lost or is never developed and parents do not know how to deal with the situation. So the doctor is put under pressure to 'fix it'.

In Germany, my mother would also attest to the fact that many doctors diagnose ADD (and for fuck's sake, prescripe Ritalin) even without running the necessary tests first. Her observations are rather convincing, and I am of the firm opinion that ADD is in fact overdiagnosed to an absurd degree. The illness exists though - and is unrelated to nutrition.

That's not to say that nutrition doesn't interfere with our ability to concentrate. Whoever tried to tutor a kid all high on sugar after a pint of Coke knows what I'm talking about. But that's not ADD.

I think the internet causes something very similar to it. I know that once upon a time I used to have this intense focus where I could shut out the entire world (or at least it felt that way) and just do one thing for hours. Shortly after I started hanging out on the internet more, I started finding it more and more difficult to do the crazy shit I used to do... like sit still and read for twelve hours straight or stare at a wall for hours while carefully remembering every detail of a movie.

Huh, my workplace doesn't let me lose that ability. I'm more or less sitting in a passage room between my boss' room and the rest of the company. So you either learn to ignore everything around you and concentrate on what you're doing... or you get nothing done.

The internet is just stealing all the time to draw cool stuff. :o

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about childhood nutrition and its long term effects. There is a lot of research that shows that bad nutrition can cause learning disabilities and other issues with development in the brain in the long run.

But let's say it is completely and undeniably over diagnosed, which I'm willing to accept. What does this say about this current generation of parents? It says that more and more parents are willing to seek professional help when it comes to their children and have more access to doctors. Along with this, childhood mortality rates have dramatically declined in the past 80 years. So despite the overabundance of diagnosises, there's something right going on.

It just seems weird to me that all the sudden this current generation of parents are apparently really bad at parenting compared to the tens of thousands of generations before them. Maybe they're all bad, I don't know, but it just seems like too simple to go straight for generational blame. Maybe it is something as simple as that, though. I don't know.

    Just a thought I guess.

OK, I don't normally post Youtube links, especially as I'm usually the last to find out about them, but this one seems to keep staying on my mind.

Faaantastic date last night with the doctor girl. Did dinner at an Italian place in the little village and then went for dancing and drinks. She's going away for a bit but is likely moving near me soon. Woooooo!

So the city of Wittenberg has nominated Pussy Riot for the Martin Luther Award. Religious and conservative voices protest, the "religious dimension" of Pussy Riot's deeds had supposedly been ignored in this decision. "Luther towns should not honor blasphemy" is the argument. "They protested at the wrong place" is another. So where do you protest against the amalgamation of state and religion if not in a church? I mean, they can't really get into the Kreml for that. A third argument actually is that the translation of the band's name is offensive. WHAT, REALLY?

The Award "The Dauntless Word" is traditionally given to women and men who "are ready to take rigor into account for dauntless appearance". Fits like a glove in my opinion.

Good thing Martin Luther always shut his gob concerning religious matters. When that guy saw anything wrong with his church, he probably just looked the other way instead of writing his own fucking bible. In any other case, all this outrage would look like the purest bigotry.

Wake the fuck up, Friedrich Schorlemmer. We have to make clear to Russian fundamentalists where we stand. Pussy Riot have protested against a corrupt and depraved religious system, exactly like the 'blasphemous' Martin Luther. You can't just duck and cover. Outrage right back at you.

The problem with religious nutcases is that they take everything too seriously and often miss the entire point of their religion. Jesus taught his followers to "love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek", and yet people have killed and raped and tortured and started wars in his name.

The fact of the matter is, people will claim to follow a religion, yet what they're doing is simply twisting it and distorting it to fit their views, even if it really shouldn't fit at all. Because people will believe whatever they want to believe, even if they have to lie to defend themselves.

It's been said before and it will be said again many a time: You can't fix stupidity.

Try to pick up the DVD for "Home for the Holidays" for today.

I have no real idea what thanksgiving is like, but if it's anything like that, I'm glad that I don't. Also, Robert Downey jr. in his single best role. And yes, I am aware of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

    Have a great holiday!

Anyone watched Indie Game: The Movie?

I thought it was very good myself. Funny, touching, intriging, tense. I definately got into it.

I think its inspired me just a tad more. Definately want to give a project a go.
I really don't have an excuse this time since I'm on a placement.
I'm working 6am -2pm now, so thats at least 6-8 hours (depending on the condition of my feet (if they are bad it incapacitates me for about 2 hours, still sore now after today actually)) before bed I can work on something.
This arrangement is for another 5 weeks till I move on, so I have some time to work on something.

Might start up an old idea. Need to look into my notes. Hopefully this time I'll actually get something, anything on paper. (though I doubt it... -_-)

I don't wanna watch it because Phil Fish is such a big part of it, and Phil Fish is the absolute worst. I do not want to have sympathy for him. I want to hate him for time immemorial, when i'm destitute and licking door knobs for money my hate for him will keep my frail exposed naked body from freezing to death in the elements.

it is not easy to play Temple Run when you have a pop-out video playing over a big portion of the screen. I'm not sure Samsung meant for me to play Temple Run and watch Dragonball at the same time.

Believe me. The Common App is simple.

It's simpler than having to do separate applications for every school you're applying to. Which I had to do for a good portion of my schools that were too good for the Common App.

I'm going to admit. My Dads new iPad is pretty neat and good for browsing on.

Still, I'm really looking forward to getting a hopefully working laptop tomorrow.

And I'm going to admit, Phil Fish is pretty damn obnoxious and arrogant and very elitist, but looking at Fez in the documentary and with the game itself, you can clearly see he really fucking obsessed over every last detail of it.

He's definately going to be a person to look out for either way.

Personally though I want to look into Jonathan Blows next game once its out.

If you make roughly 200 coins in a run, it's 125 runs to unlock the Indiana Jones Guy.
