Also Fawful, I will report back in 2028 when I get that far in the series. Or just wait for me to have to take a few days off work on the sick. I still have a boxset full if the Coen's pretentious horseshit I have to watch

You have Coen's movies to watch!? SCREW BEBOP IN ITS ASS! Er...I mean...I hope you enjoy them all equally.

Here now, I gave the dub cred not a lock of posts ago. Let's not twist words. But we all know as was my point that dubs are usually a big bag of shite, Bebop is very very good

Sorry. Very true. I still grate my teeth on a lot of dubs.

    I concur.

How are we talking about Cowboy Bebop in a thread about the 3DS?

"Daft" isn't a very common word where I'm from so I'm not quite getting your connotation, but I think once you grow attached to the characters (and you will, as you watch more of it), you'll find it increasingly difficult to say anything negative about the show. The plots aren't "realistic" by any stretch, but it's a pretty whimsical take on sci-fi so you just have to suspend judgment.

Meanwhile, back on the 3DS, I got mine on Thursday, and I'm pretty impressed. I didn't get any 3DS game, so I'm running out of stuff to do with it. Thinking about buying Lego Star Wars since I'm pretty terrible at fighting games. May go with Rayman instead since I never played the original.

The reviews of Rayman have been pretty bad. They are saying it's just a lazy port with next to nothing added to the experience.

You don't like fighting games so Street Fighter is out. The games that have been getting the best reviews aside from SF are Nintendogs (which I personally recommend), Pilotwings (which is supposed to be fun but shallow) and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (a turn-based strategy that reviewers are calling surprisingly deep). Don't know much about Lego Star Wars but it could be fun if you are a fan of the lego games.

As for Rayman. By loveless port, that does mean the original levels and gameplay and stuff are both still intact. Its just that there are no bonuses and the 3d is crap right? Im fine if it means I can replay that classic.

Lego Star Wars... a person I listen to reviews(Kwing) says the 3ds version is loaded with "class A" bugs which apparantly freezes the game after every level and might save before that occurs. Should see other reviews though.

They're saying it's pretty much the same game that was released in 1999, with next to nothing added except the 3D. It's a game they got running pretty well on the old DS. Might just want to pick up a copy of that if it's cheap enough.

Edit: Here's a neck-hurting comparison of the two games in action.

Come to think of it I probably do have the DS version somewhere which was too painful to play with the layout of the DS. Ill try and dig up because I actually prefer the graphics of the DS version sadly.
EDIT:Found it! You just saved me $50

Lol nice, and now you can use the 3DS's control stick thing for far superior movement. I used that thing for Mario 64 DS last night and it felt really good.

Yeah I used it for Pokemon White and it didnt effect much. Probably more for games where diagonal movement is an option:D

I tried it with Super Mario 64 DS too, but I didn't like it.
The fact that you need to use the Y button to run just doesn't make sense with the analog stick. It just doesn't feel as natural as the N64 version and after a few deaths by crappy controls I put Mario 64DS back in the forget box... Too bad.

Could someone please teach me how to use vegas special and ultra combos in SSF3d. They make no sense to me. I do every single one word for bloody word, and nothing happens besides Vega doing a backflip(usually into an attack:mad:) I even tried training but nothing will happen when I try the combos.

Charge down-back, then quickly do down-forward, down-back again, and finally up and K or KKK.

Yes, it's an enormous pain in the ass on pad and I hate it too.

will try but Im playing more nintendogs right now(my dog is being a pain right now with her natural ability to finish the cone challange on the streets, and then jump right over the present)

I don't see the appeal of Nintendogs. Especially not for $39.99.

Nintendogs is more for kids whos parents wont buy them a pet.
I just play it for casual play.

Also I can officialy tell you guys that puzzle quest on the streetpass mii plaza cheats when you use play coins.
I ALWAYS get the same piece. The starter one:(
I swear Nintendo, instead of the gamble being "there is a same chance at all pieces including ones you have" its "Theres a 90% chance you will get a repeat"

I spent my whole Saturday in the city and at the Rhine (the weather was a blast), among thousands of other people and got just one single StreetPass contact. Meh. Looks like it isn't that big in Germany.

Haven't met anyone in the Netherlands either... :S
Doesn't help that I spend most of my time at work or at home either...
Laserschwert, ever come in Venlo? :p

Just do a lap of GAME if you want a guaranteed streetpass contact. Didnt look at anything but got a green light on my 3ds :)

That circle pad is a nightmare for some rpgs. Been playing chrono trigger and while its good for getting about, its impossible when selecting attacks and navigating menus. Had a quick go in ffiv which has a similar problem, it just keeps scrolling too fast and i keep attacking the wrong dude. Shame that D-pad is so akward to use

Tried that, no love so far though. Streetpass is gonna take a wee while to kick off methinks

I brought my 3DS into uni today and got two people on StreetPass. I was pretty stoked considering the 3DS only launched in Australia four days ago.
  • edited April 2011
Havent gotten one either. Small town full of nongamers. Or illimformed people who think the 3ds is the DSi2

EDIT:On the other hand spotpass is doing ok. I just got a new figurine password in street fighter. For a level 7 gold Blanka. If you live in America, go get your 3ds, if you live in Europe or Australia, check to see if we all got it.

Nope, but the street I live on is actually named "Venloer Street" (yes, after the city)... does that count?
  • edited April 2011
Wow, you don't live that far away from me... :|
I thought you lived like Berlin far or something!
But no, it doesn't count, as I won't pass you there so our Streetpass' won't connect. :(

I got 17 streetpass Miis when I went to the Video Game Orchestra concert in Symphony Hall. :)

They are spacing out their games.
They wanted their third party games to get some love before they bust out their games. I know its working because lord knows I would have never gotten Street Fighter or Nintendogs if one of those games were out.

    PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    SINCE WHEN!?
Also according to the 3ds blog(look it up too lazy) the first true DLC has come out in Japan as a new level in samuri warriors. Before anyone says anything about Street Fighter no. The figurines were already ingame, they just gave the passwords through spotpass(I hope eventually that game gets DLC, and Nintendogs)

You do know Nintendogs is a first party game?

Yes but not a MAJOR first party game.
Thats another thing about spacing. Nintendo knew one of their own wouldnt sell as well so they put it at laucnh.

How is it not a major first party game? Shiggy even helped design it. I don't understand what you mean when you say "Nintendo knew one of their own wouldnt sell as well so they put it at laucnh." I hope you don't think Nintendogs has some sort of trouble selling? The original on DS sold over 22 million copies worldwide if you count all the different versions. It is a massively popular title!

Edit: Sorry, I think I get what you mean now, that Nintendo didn't want to release one of their AAA titles at launch because they would be worried it wouldn't sell as well but I'm not sure I agree with that. At this point they are more worried about trying to sell the system rather than the games. The best way to sell a system is with must-have games.

They are giving third parties a chance to shine but aside from Capcom all the third party offerings have been disappointing up to this point. Believe it or not Nintendogs is a Nintendo first party franchise, developed and distributed by Nintendo and if the 3DS is successful Nintendogs + Cats will be one of the highest selling games on the system, and not just because it is a launch title.
  • edited April 2011
Nintendogs & Cats has long term appeal, so it makes sense to get that game out as early as possible and let it sit there and gather sales...
(While the average prices for the games are still high)

    Makes the retailers happy.

I'm more annoyed that the 3DS store and the internet browser aren't available in launch, as that would have easly tide me over between this considerable gap of games.
  • edited April 2011
My assumption was that they were confident that the 3DS would sell itself for a while at launch based on the wow factor, so they save the more hardcore launch titles for later, when the hardware sales boost that they bring will be more dramatic.

Considering the way their upcoming games are spaced out that seems likely. I imagine there will be a huge boost in hardware sales when Ocarina of Time 3D is released.
