I agree. The fact that you don't like Ocarina of Time doesn't mean that it's overrated. It's rightfully one of the most revolutionary games of the last 15 years and a game that's made a great difference in 3D gaming.
You could question if a remake is necessary, I think I'll still prefer the original, but it ís a revolutionary game and in no way overrated.
I don't really see how a remake of an overrated game is incentive to drop $300 on something.
You just answered your own question.
It IS overrated but think of the hundreds that overrate the game. They will fork over $250 for this game and the $40 it costs for this game.
Nintendo knows what they are doing.
EDIT:And just to clarify it is a good game and defenently helped shape 3d gaming(know its doing that again:D) but please remember how much people praise this game like it was handcrafted by Jesus, Budah, and Alah. It is overrated still.
I don't plan to buy 3DS yet. Like the other guy, I find Ocarina of Time very overrated, and even if I didn't, a remake wouldn't be enough to sell me an entire console. None of the games out now are the least appealing.
I'd rather wait until there are more interesting games out. It's a very promising console, despite flawed battery life.
It's how Nintendo got me to buying every handheld in the last 10 years. GBA --> Super Mario Advance (Super Mario Bros 2) Nintendo DS --> Super Mario 64DS (Super Mario 64) 3DS --> Zelda...
Still I'm not sure if I'll get Ocarina of Time 3D. They might just sucker me into doing it though...
Fail from Nintendo.
I just now got the notification on the first 3ds update.
I was shocked to see the blue light and was hoping maybe a street fighter code, but instead I get a very late notification.
I never said OoT was bad, hell, I own 3 versions of the game myself, just that it's wildly overrated and definitely not worth spending $300 to get some higher res textures and a few more polygons. The game is a 7 or 8 out of 10 and people act like it's an 11.
If there were some other reasons for me to own a 3DS besides a remake and a couple other possibly decent games several months down the line, I might have considered buying one, but as it is now, I'm waiting until at least hardware revision #1, or the first big price cut.
As a side note, my 3DS got another black screen of death yesterday (just the one). And it froze whilst playing a DS game (okamiden). Although I was on a bus which was bumping a lot, which may have played a part...
I personally think Zelda: A Link to the Past is better, if not the best Zelda game, (though Ages and Seasons do come very close).
Remember most people who praise the game were problably raised with that game. I have to agree with yahtzee here, if you have 1 or 2 games, you will think more highly of those 2 games. Most people that had the game could have only had 2 other games becuase they were kids growing up with that game and thus thought more of it because of that.
Of course that doesnt apply for everybody, but still that probably did add more to it.
Little compares to MM, when you reunite the lovers moments before the world ends...
This is what I mean. Majora's Mask has such emotional dept because you really connect to the characters. Their not puppets standing in a huge world with only one thing to say. They live their lives, lives that you can affect. This makes saving them so much more rewarding.
@Secret Fawful I'm really looking forward to Paper Mario too, but only if it's like part 1 or 2. I didn't really care for the style and gameplay of Super Paper Mario.

I just got done watching video of someone talking to the sisters at the farm.. can't remember their names.
At any rate, had no idea how depressing the farm is on the final days. Sisters go through a whole conversation of the impending doom. Big sister lets her younger sister milk cows for the first time, which the younger sister doesn't understand. Bigger sister invites younger sister to sleep in her bed. The whole time younger sister is oblivious to the coming doom.
I thought Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 were complete garbage, and I'm not convinced that a Kid Icarus sequel 20 years later in 3D will be good at all.
Paper Mario would be hard to screw up, but it isn't out for quite some time either, and it would still take a lot more than OoT remake and a new Paper Mario for me to do anything but wait for the first inevitable hardware revision. Nintendo's playing with their hand on the table at this point, and I'm done buying first revision hardware from them because I know it will be useless trash by the first or second revision.
Actually I think that a Kid Icarus sequel after 20 years WILL be good, BECAUSE it's being made 20 years later.
The thing that I notice with Nintendo games is that they really stick to the formula when it's succesfull, and if they change things of the more popular franchises it's mostly for the worse (I'm looking at you DKC-Returns,) so a completely new Kid Icarus game would be great for me! I'm really looking forward to it!

Ive got to disagree with you here, I tore through DkC Returns and loved every minute of it.

I think the reason kid icarus will be good is because it looks like a greek mythological starfox clone!
Anyway, I just finished okamiden, and realised that their needs to be a 3DS version of the game. If only to boost sales and decrease some of the load times. Its a friggin awesome game. The ending made me cry too.
Making me kill my own companion/friend? That's harsh!
Which makes me wonder, will you still be able to see the 3D effect through a veil of tears? I actually think the 3D would suit the game pretty well. Petals floating around in the air, the weaponry would suit it nicely too (the beads in particular)

AAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH I saw through the spoiler when I went to quote this. Dammit.
Anyway, I'm at the moon-temple thingy, how far am I?
The battery life, the reports of some having error messages, and the lack of launch titles that appeal to me is what made me hold off on the 3DS. I wouldn't mind getting it one day but it'll probably be after a major price drop.
I tried it today while I was at Target to buy Tron: Legacy. I was slightly impressed with the 3D effects but found it more enjoyable with them off. Part of the problem may have been that the system was held in place with a magnet so strong, I didn't think you could pick it up, so I was probably not at the right viewing angle (and I didn't readjust the 3D slider once I realized I could pick it up). Otherwise, it felt like a DS with a thumb slider. I did enjoy the thumb slider, though.
I still maintain my stance on it: it looks like something I'm going to want at some point down the line (hopefully after a hardware revision to deal with that nasty battery life), but I'm totally happy to live without one right now.

I'm not sure which Zelda game is my favorite; I've played so few of them. Either way, Zelda is hardly the game I care about most on this system.
That's a three way tie between Paper Mario 4, Megaman Legends 3, and Kid Icarus 3.
Lets pray to god that this doesn't get cancelled like Universe =(

On the northern ryoshima coast? you're probably about 70% of the way through it.
Also dont worry about the spoiler. It gets far sadder.
Jealous, so very jealous. I'm half tempted to hang outside school playgrounds to see if the damn thing works
My legal barn have advised me against this however
Interesting enough a few weeks ago one of the reviewers I listened to(kwing) did that exact same joke.
