It's a good thing then that you can get the radio episodes over there then! Although that finishes next week, I think.
Oh, and I got a reply back from Big Finish. They say as my forum name is linked to my actual account, changing my forum name would result in me losing everything in my account (all the downloads). So, I'm not going to change it. I might create a duplicate account though if I can be bothered.
Also, Matt Smith didn't win a BAFTA last night, which is a shame. He lost out to some guy I've never heard of. Shelock (Moffat's other Brainchild. Well kind of.) won a couple of awards though.
I know I've mentioned it before but the sooner they get rid of the cliched openning recount the better. Who is the main character in Doctor Who? Is it the Doctor? No it's Amy Pond so we need a recap of how she met the Doctor because we have such a short attention span we can't remember what happend only a year ago. I could handle it for a little longer if it was centered around the Doctor. Errr. Almost makes me want to turn off.
The story is good, but not as excellent as the past two. It seems to me like it was made specifically to set up the "big reveal" of the episode, pretty much. The story is without much surprise for a Who story, and the episode contains what is easily the hokiest CGI in this whole series. Still, take all this as relative to the other episodes of this series, which are absolutely BRILLIANT(that is to say, no, I don't think the episode was bad at all).
Depends on how you are! I like to speculate about what's going to happen and dislike trying to avoid spoilers, so I'd say watch it now. But if you hate to be left hanging, wait til you can watch them consecutively.
I don't remember who, I think it was Terrence Dicks maybe (Showrunner/Exec Producer during Pertwee era) who said he still enjoys the show, but thinks the 2x45 format is vastly superior due to it's ability to build suspense and anticipation. Oddly enough, the Pertwee era is the most commonly more then 4 parters (the equivalent of 2x45), with his first season being 3 seven parters and one four parter and the majority of his run being 6-parters. I watched the nigh-entirety of the New Series over the last eleven months, and the two parters seem much stronger when watched back to back. If you can avoid spoilers, then I would say to wait, having not seen the episode myself.
Oh, good news: BBC America has started uploading Confidential to their website so us USians can legally watch it now! Yay!
Also: The Whispering Forest is really boring and I can't be bothered to finish the first part. It reminds me of Terminus which is not good at all.
On a related BF note, the purchasing was down earlier this morning on their site. This leads me to believe they've begun fixing that bug that's still not fixed the last time they emailed me.
I also marathoned the entirety of Inferno in one sitting (one of the previously mentioned seven-parters). It's quite a good story, plus EvilEyepatch!Brigadier is the coolest.

Well, over here in the UK, the doctor's identity is engraved in our racial memory, so they don't bother with that bit.
@Ribs: I too found the first part of "the whispering forest" a bit boring, and I can't for the life of me remember where it left off. I shall relisten to it (and part two) tonight, just because it'll annoy me if I don't. Just like when my sky box (digital TV box) jammed during "The leisure hive" just as a clone army was being created. I never saw the ending to that episode, and its bugged me ever since (which is sometime. That was two years ago, I reckon). I finally bought the DVD (and four others) last weekend, and it's sat on my desk, beckoning at me. If only I had the time!
Oh, and I saw the stats a couple of weeks back, and was depressed I wasn't the most frequent poster, and have engaged in a silent war to fix that
Anyway, I shall be watching "The Aztecs" tonight. If I have time. ¬_¬
Basically, the intended message was that, unless you really want to sit and wait for a week, you're not missing too much by waiting a week to see both episodes at once, since this was probably one of the weaker episodes of this series.
So it's not an episode I absolutely need to watch right now, is what you're saying. That's what I wanted to know! Thanks. I'll wait until the weekend and do them both at once.

Yeah, the whole episode seemed to be setting it up for part two. It wasn't like "The Impossible Astronaut" which was a fantastic episode in its own right.
According to random people on forums, Sainsbury's (I assume that's a common store) has selected recent releases for £5 and Box sets (like Myth and Legends and Black Guadian) for £10, if y'all are looking for good deals.
Linkara (Yay!) and Phelous (Meh!) from TGWTG (Yay!) did a review of one of the 90's interim films, which features Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Sylvestor McCoy, Colin Baker, Nick Briggs, and Nicola Bryant not playing their roles but instead environmentalists in 'The Airzone Solution', and the link for that's here.
Also; Friar inadvertantly spoiled part of the big reveal with a picture taken during filming of next week's episode on the very first page of this thread.
And in the same post said Midnight was a bad episode. SHAME.

Really? I've never seen any classic series sets on sale in Sainsbury's (probably the third largest supermaket chain in the UK, after Tesco's and ASDA(owned by walmart)). I shall have a peek in two of the stores tomorrow, but there is no listing of the DVD's at all on their site, which is a shame. They do have one of the board games on sale though!
Ah well. I don't think my wallet or schedule could take any more doctor who boxsets...
Also, big reveal spoilt? Which episode? I thought that they were being shipped out to museums and libraries and stuff (We've had a Dalek and a TARDIS visit ours once or twice and we're only a very small town They couldn't fit the TARDIS through the door. Wish I was there, instead of at college ¬_¬

Well, when this episode's basic synopsis (ie cloning) was leaked months back the assumption was the Doctor
, in addition to the TARDIS, would be cloned dozens of times
, but there's a chance it was that too.
Also: the complete list of sets seen on sale at Sainsburys are:
£10
Revistiations 1 (Talons, Caves, Movie)
Revenge / Silver Nemsis
Black Guardian Trilogy
Chase / Space Museum
Myths and Legends

As for the
Multiple TARDIS', I guess that could happen in part two.
If it's any consolation, Underworld is the worst Tom Baker story and the worst story from the first Five Doctors period, according to the top 200 poll, and the Time Warrior is in the much neater Sontaran box set you people have, so Myths and Legends may not be worth the purchase.
Also: Dreamland is really quite terrible. If you're going to bother to do an animated episode, WHY NOT INVITE PAUL MCGANN ARNAJBVAFNL

Well, it's "the time monster" that is in the set, not "the time warrior.
The main reason I want it is for "The horns of Nimon", after a Nimon appeared in one of the audios
Seasons of Fear
and I had no idea who/what they were. I shall have a look tomorrow, and base my decision purely on what I can fit in my bag!
Also, I didn't think Dreamland was that bad. Not as bad as the infinite quest anyway. The animation was a little to stylistic though for my liking. Too robotic. I just wish they'd finish putting it up for sale on iTunes. They have a series labelled "animated" which has a shot of dreamland as its icon, but the only episode in it is "The infinite quest". Grumble...

So, there's a medium-size Sainsburys on my way to work, a small Sainsbury's on my way to work, and a kick-ass huge one in the opposite direction which is an absolute bitch to get to.
Let's guess where the DVD are going to be, then.

Well, regarding stories that play a role in the audios, I think I should note that before you go and get Season 2 of the Eighth Doctor Adventures (although you seem more interested in continuing Charley's right now), you should watch the Tom Baker stories
The Brain of Morbius
and
The Seeds of Doom
, as one I believe reappears and the other gets a spiritual succesor.
Really weird thing? Doctor Who canonically takes place in the same universe as Blake's 7.
I've never actually seen Blake 7! I shall have to watch it sometime...
There's also a subtle reference in the book "Brisingr", part of Eragon/Inheritance series (It spawned a terrible film, but the books are excellent. Think Lord of the rings, only easier to understand then the books were. And with dragons. Well, two.)
One of the characters makes reference to a "Lonely god" and then writes this in the sand. "The trickster, the riddler, the keeper of the balance, he of the many faces who finds life in death and who fears no evil; he who walks through doors."
The author also says it's about the doctor in an acknowledgement at the back. It was pretty unexpected when I read it.
So I did see The Rebel Flesh (yay!)! I enjoyed it more then last week's, at least for the last thirty minutes once we're past the whole 'ololol this is this place' phase. The ending has been known in the spoilery community since the episode was first casting somehow, so it was more or less how to get from Point A to Point B.
It was apparently unofficial John-Nathan Turner Day yesterday/today (timey wimey GMT), and it's nice to see people being nice to the man for once. I'm rewatching Enlightenment now
No, as I refuse to accept a world where the Sixth Doctor has short hair and the Fourth Doctor is balding.
Big Finish fixed the bug I sent in! Yay! And they haven't said anything regarding the subscription, so I'll assume that I get to keep it! Hooray!
Great, now you can tell us what that 20p was for. Tax? Paypal fees? Ketchup sachet?
Oh yeah, I went in two Sainsbury's stores today. None of them sold any doctor who DVDs. Grumble. There's one 7 miles away, but that would probably cost me about the same as I would save in petrol, and they mightn't even have it! I shall have to convince my friends that we need to visit the adjacent McDonalds, not mentioning my ulterior motives...

And that you need to stop for some aubergines or something (I know English vocabulary!).
The exrta 20p was in fact Paypal fees. When nothing is in your cart, 20p is the pre-determined surcharge. Not sure if I should say more then that in case there is in fact another way to do it somehow.
I point you to Army of Ghosts, where Eastenders is firmly established as a TV show in the Whoniverse.
I recall on Christmas on Eastenders they where watching the End of Time part 1. It didn't show any of the ep cos it was the same Christmas but they where sat round watching the opening b4 the next scene.
It was also mentioned in "The impossible planet": "That's almost as bad as saying... This'll be the best christmas walford ever had!". More proof that doctor who is real. And Ian Beale is the 12th doctor. (I think that's the right soap. I haven't seen it in years.)
Oh and have a Torchwood: Miracle Day trailer. On the house.
I'm not really sure what to make of it. It looks like a generic US action series with Gwen and jack thrown in. Still, I have confidence that it'll be good. Just not "The children of earth" good. There's an awesome line at the end though: "So you're the best England has to offer?" "No. I'm WELSH. *Smack*"
Funny thing the leader of Tocrchwood was the one who killed Den Watts in Eastenders who was the Ghost Peggy was talking to when Eastenders was on in Army of Ghosts.
I still massively dislike Torchwood after seeing Captain JackHarkness. Such a terrible episode.
I can't really remember much of it. I remember thinking the second episodes (the one that centred around a sex obsessed alien) was possibly the most awkward thing I had ever seen. I also remember loving "The children of Earth" mini-series. Fantastic bit of television. Made moreso that it was set and aired over five days. One of the episodes even brought me to tears. I really need to pick up the whole set sometime...
No, as I refuse to accept a world where the Sixth Doctor has short hair and the Fourth Doctor is balding.
Y'know, those don't tend to me the first reasons people think of to hate "Dimensions in Time" (whcih I love, by the way).
Actually, there were other crossovers between the two series. Dr Who Magazine had a short story based around the fact that Leslie Grantham was in both; the very funny comic strip "Happy Deathday" had a return to Albert Square (albeit out of continuity); and there was a short story in "Short Trips and Side Steps" set in the Walford Tandoori.
Oh yeah, I went in two Sainsbury's stores today. None of them sold any doctor who DVDs.
Same here. Apparently they only want to sell "chart" DVDs. Dammit, why should I have to bow to the "mainstream"?! My niche interests must be fulfilled!
I might be able to get to the huge locallish branch at the weekend, but doubtless the promotion will be over by then.
And that you need to stop for some aubergines or something (I know English vocabulary!).
No true-born Englishman will ever stop for aubergines. Frankly, as soon as I see an aubergine heading inexorably towards my plate, that's my signal to leave.
June 1st (only one week!) marks the start of BF Month, which will have limited titles from anything they produce on sale. BF Week starts June 6th and will have new deals each day from the 6th,7th,8th,9th, and 10th, and each of these days will have A Doctor Who-related deal (I was actually considering picking up the second holmes, so somewhat sad face). There's no information as to whether or not the sales actually on Big Finish Day (the eleventh) will also be online as it was last year, as the flier thing says deals at the con as a plus. Oh well, but six different sales in a short time span is pretty great.
And I listened to Episode One of Invaders from Mars. This is one of those rare pseudo-historicals focusing on something an American is aware of, as opposed to historicals like The Mark of the Rani, and I'm enjoying it because I know a bit about War of the Worlds and own the CDs (somewhere).
The Whispering Forest (I've stopped listening to these, as it's sort of ruined my chances at getting the best McCoy trilogy as I'd never forgive myself for not purchasing the subscription and getting the script and due to my October subscription the sub with that McCoy trilogy would include the full Davison trilogy so I'd be buying content I've already heard which I couldn't forgive myself for. Maybe if tehy go a touch further back in the range, before scripts were offered for Subs, it'd be better.)
Also: I've started a rewatch of Series Five in French because of this clip.
I just started watching Dr. who... from the beginning, it was kinda slow going at first, but then I hit "Marco Polo" I had enjoyed the series prior to that, and "the daleks" was awesome, but "marco polo" just clicked with me because I'm a big fan of radio dramas and without the video it just made the story arc that much more exciting ^_^ I just love using my imagination xDD
I think I'm truly going to enjoy this series from this point forward =D
On a side note, I'm a HUGE fan of Peter Davison from when he played Tristan Farnon in "all creatures great and small" so I'm especially anxious to see some of his dr. who episodes ^_^
