    And there was much rejoicing!

Also, Paul McGanns audio's become even better in the second main range series. Loads of original ideas in "seasons of fear", "embrace the darkness" and "The chimes of midnight. And then you have your typical dalek serial and timelord serial (which is still good, if a little confusing. And ending on a pretty awesome cliff hanger).

And I know full well how much better they get. I really wish BF Day wasn't coming up so I'd be willing to purchase the rest of the season, but it gives me a chance to explore the CCs and the EDAs, which I am enjoying.

*insert daily still haven't seen 6x03 rant but it's my fault really because it's been on demand for days now*

ON ANOTHER NOTE: OH GOD THE SONTARAN BOX SET IS SO CHEAP FOR YOUS IT COSTS LESS THEN JUST THE INVASION OF TIME OVER HERE WHY CANT THE US GET NEAT BOX SETS

Well, I saw "The Trial of a Time Lord" Set for £8 today. :p
(Although I paid £30 for it a year or so ago)

I think you've misunderstood my post. I liked both the episode and the *REDACTED*. I just think we've already seen a different
TARDIS turned into a human. Namely, the little girl at the end of a previous episode that looked like she was regenerating. Now, I'm thinking she might be a TARDIS.

I dunno, if she was a LOLSPOILAR, wouldn't last night's STILLASPOYLUR have
    regenerated when she started "dying"
    ?

Are you sure that what we saw was
actually regeneration, and not just TARDIS energy?

They could very well be the same energy, as the same energy happened to lead the a certain Christopher Eccelston's regeneration.

Well, little girl DID say that she was
    dying
right before so I think we can assume that it was
regeneration energy and not TARDIS energy
    .

I may have missed a discussion on this while I was avoiding this thread (was waiting to catch up on some episodes)... but what's the story with
Amy's positive/negative/positive/negative pregnancy thing? Did the Silents do something to her when she was alone with them in that room? If I recall correctly, one of them told her something like "You will bring the Silents, but your part will be over soon."
  • edited May 2011
Aye, what Alcore said. Of course, I don't think we have enough info yet to draw any conclusions. For all we know, River Song is a well-disguised Ood and the Doctor is Martha's long lost brother from another mother who convinces people that he's an alien.

More importantly, why does the TARDIS have a pregnancy scanner?

Finally! Been wondering when someone would post that!

Also, the TARDIS has everything. It's like Inspector Gadget, only it doesn't have a crappy film with Matthew Broderick.

I got the complete Season 27 set (basically the equivalent of Buy 3 Get One), and I enjoyed the first one. Having listened to some Back Catalog McGanns, it's not as good as when I first heard it but it's still wholly enjoyable. Also, the White Box Art for the complete Lost Stories Series 2 set is sexy.

Also: BF confirmed it won't be on sale next month, along with the rest of Series 2 of the lost stories, so if you're waiting there is no reason to.

Or that was a red herring, meant to be intentionally misleading, and the

So Cobwebs aired, and it's on iPlayer. And for some odd reason, it works in the states! Actually, the reason is you don't pay license fees for radio, but do for TV. :/

Also: If you already own it and/or have no interest in it, at least start playing it with the volume all the way down so to boost viewing figures so they can continue things like this.

Just a quick question for anyone from the UK: I'm going to London tomorrow for some work-related things, and I'm considering making the most of my visit and try to get into the Doctor Who Experience (I think I've got enough time, although I'm not completely sure). Anyone here knows how long the entire thing takes, and if it's absolutely necessary to buy tickets in advance? I would just buy them online, but it's hard for me to predict how late I'll be there, and you can't just buy a ticket for the entire day.

Besides that, does anyone have any tips about what else to do in London? It's just a quick trip for a one hour-interview, and I'll be staying there one day and night (I love it when my university pays my plane tickets). I'll be staying near Hyde Park, if that's any help.

I thought you were talking about
Rose, way back in the first 2005 series, when the Tardis possessed her.
Of course, mabye my memory is playing tricks on me and that didn't happen.
  • edited May 2011
She wasn't possessed - she absorbed the time vortex that powers the TARDIS. Not quite the same thing.

Friar said the actual "experience" part only takes about 30 minutes, and then there's a mini museum at the end.

Yeah! Wow that's a big question. There's loads to do!

I wrote an enormous response to this, but will PM you rather than spamming the Doctor Who thread with my guidebook. :p
  • edited May 2011
Thanks, lots of great information in your PM! I'm really looking forward to my visit, the last time I visited London was over 17 years ago (which means I was about 5 years old then, so I don't remember anything about it). At least I'll be able to get into some pubs now.

The doctor who experience is definately worth it. But seeing as you're going on a weekday, you shouldn't need to pre-book tickets (but they are a couple of quid more expensive on the door). If you are going, go before 3pm if you can. That way there won't be any pesky kids who hog the TARDIS controls ¬_¬

And I shall be listening cobwebs later. Perhaps several times to boost figures.

I have no qualms about spamming any thread so here goes: British Museum. Go there. It's fantastic. I could spend months in there.

I suppose you could go to tourist trap places like the Tower of London or the London Eye or something like that, too.

    Free stuff
    • Science Museum (pretty awesome, lots of stuff to fiddle with. Replica spacecraft, toys from the 60s, medicine from the 1800's)
    • Natural History Museum (pretty good if you like giant skeletons and insect collections)
    • National Gallery (At Trafalgar Square, with the famous sunflower Van Gogh painting. Alas, without a dedication to Amy)
    • British Museum (Home of the Sphinxes nose and the Rosetta stone)

    Paid Stuff
    • Buckingham Palace/ Houses of Parliament tours (Seasonal. Not sure if they are open to public at the moment)London Dungeons/London Eye/river cruise/london aquarium/Maddame Tussauds(waxwork) (you can get combo tickets for discounts on them)
    • St.Pauls Cathedral (near Tate modern if you're into modern art, and the globe theatre if you want to see Shakespeare done in a rebuilt version of the theatre he performed in. Or better yet, the theatre from "the shakespeare code" :p)
    • Tower of London (home of the crown jewels, near Tower bridge, London dungeons, and a large military ship turned into a museumy thing, I think. HMS Belfast.)

    *edit*
Tower of London (UNIT emergency headquarters), HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge and Torchwood tower/canary warf all in one shot.
    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSTygHjiSa4pHCzQ1JFOuOgOC7D9MoxOK0T40MOVzgd8f87P4sM1A

Uh... I can't think of much else.

And to tie this post in with the subject matter somehow: I went into waterstones today (UK book chain), and in their "In the news" section there were three doctor who books, with the hand written caption "The doctor is back!" underneath. It seems like the manager is a bit of a whovian. I shall have to stroll the shop wearing my Peter Davison shirt tomorrow to see if anyone picks up on it...

These releases are certainly helping whilst I'm saving up for BF Day. I am expecting the Lost Stories 1 to feature at one point, which is possibly the only complete set I want out of anything on Big Finish.

Thanks, really appreciate the effort that went into that post! I don't have time to visit all of it, but I'll make a selection while I'm waiting on my plane tomorrow morning. The Natural History Museum and the Science Museum are both pretty close to my hotel, so I expect I'll be checking them out at least. I'll have to think a bit about my other options. Thanks again!

It was no trouble at all, honestly. I was recently planning a trip to London with some friends of mine, so the stuff is all fresh in my head. And I have a photographic memory for the location stuff.

Just a heads up, there are a few paid for features at the science museum (namely the iMax theatre and the motion simulators) but the rest is free. It's been years since I went (around the launch of the wii. They had a big promotional exhibition there. Ironically, Near the toilets. :p), but it was very enjoyable. Hope you have a great time!

And for more thread linkage: Just watched the first part of cobwebs, and it's pretty good. Not the best audio I've seen heard but good none the less. Pretty awesome cliffhanger too.

I would just like to say I stared for a minute at 'iMax' without having any idea what it was before realizing you meant 'Imax'. I AM A GENIUS

And Cobwebs is pretty cool beans.

Also, your correcting seen for heard is ruined by you saying you watched it earlier. ;)
