No, as Jon Pertwee was well over sixty for the Five Doctors, as was Patrick Troughton for that and the Two Doctors.

Who has two thumbs and picked up a small CC subscription on the set of releases he most wanted? This guy. (4.03-4.08, because Peladon, Turlough, Benny, 2 discer, Jamie, and Romana II stories, all with high ratings from Time Scales).

Well, I've been waiting for the sale for about three months, so I haven't bought anything recently. I think I'll probably pick up the first audio with Evelyn in it, a couple of the better ones from 1-50, the CC "Peri and the Piscon Paradox" and a couple of others if they take my fancy. Or a subscription if it's discounted.

I've heard the second Evelyn is amazing too, as it has the Brigadier in it and it is not Minuet in Hell or Zagreus, so it is good (trollface.jpg).

And as for the sale, I've comiled a final list of 19 titles to purchase from the 1-50 and if I have any more cash and something I want is on sale then that's wonderful. Again, I'd remind you the CC with Jamie set after his mind-wipe and he recalls a story called 'The Glorious Revolution' (release 4.02) is on sale for download for five your currencies for some reason I can't find out, but it sold me on the CC format. It's an excellent way of giving characters a final goodbye, with the Brigadier one him chilling out recalling his Unit days with some wine, or Jamie getting the option to revive his memories, or Leela
dying due to the Time War
. I have no idea how BF gets away with using the Time War, but that trilogy did. Possibly due to vagueness.

And hey, I'm older than him if you want to go in that direction. ;)

If they pick you over me Il change time so "A good man goes to war" wont be written by Steven Moffet but insted will be written by...PIP AND JANE BAKER!!!!

Neil Gaiman isn't writing it, our lord and savior Grand Moff Tarkin is.

But wait... if I'm the Doctor, what's to stop me going back and stopping your insane plan in the first place? I mean, you're clearly a villain of the worst sort, so it's not as if anyone would object.

You can't go back inside you own timeline. You have to stay relative to coolsome within the causal nexus. Understand?

Somewhat related due to Grand Moff Tarkin's involvement (next time the thread gets remade (possibly for Midseason) you might as well make it a Sherlock discussion thing too)):

So it's getting a full series. Cool. I know plenty of people who'll be pleased with that.

It does make sense though. Nobody really expected Sherlock to explode in popularity the way it did, so nobody was prepared to make more so quickly. Splitting Who in half to allow for a new mini-series of Sherlock was a great way to tide people over until they had time to properly plan out a full series.

Be curious to see if they split next year's series of Doctor Who into two as well, but I'm not too bothered. As long as the series arc isn't quite so complex and there's a few more proper stand-alone stories (like The Doctor's Wife, for example), I'll be happy.

I could bring you down with a word. No - eight words. Just eight words.

No, it's still a mini-series. It just started filming and it should be finishing up soon as well as Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch need to get back to filming the Hobbit. The third episode/final episode of the season is called 'Reichenbach'. I AM EXCITE

Oh. Well, take what I said, and apply it to the third series. That should work.

Matt smith is quite good, i wasnt so sure when he first came but i think he fits in nicely and is quite like david tennant.
  • edited May 2011
I'll admit there are similarities to David Tennant, but Mr Smith (oh, I get what they did there!) has really made the part his own. It's hard to imagine David Tennant doing the whole
    Docleganger
thing without mugging it up, but Matt does it almost effortlessly.

In terms of modern Doctors, Eccleston is still my favourite, but Smith is a very close second.

I was walking the dog today down the Gallops, and the ground felt strange. A little bouncy. A few minutes later, I saw a few tufts of blue-ish grass. I now believe that the Silurians return is imminent.

Either that or the BBCs marketing department is behind it all. Which wouldn't surprise me, given that they managed to explode a star last year! :p
    image20.png

I've also decided I'll probably pick up most of the Colin baker 1-50 BF releases. They pretty much seem to be the only consistently decent ones. That is, if the subs aren't on sale.

So I watched 6x06 so I'd be ready to watch 6x07 at 8pm sharp on Saturday. I did not particularly care about how the reveal was done, at all. It was made to create confusion and was not particularly clear as to what was happening until five seconds before The Doctor did the thing.

Also; after three years, we finally find out who River is. Weirdest theory I've heard? She's Mel's daughter or in fact Mel herself, which would explain why she is quite the screamer.

Also; yeah, I'm picking up most of Six/Evelyn stuff too, seeing as it's the only other arc besides Eight's arcs. Most people dislike the Peri/Erimem stuff as part of the reason Five's regeneration was so good was that he barely knew Peri when he saved her, and the expanded universe takes away from that. In fact, looking at my chart of audios I intend to purchase, I only want 'Loups Garoux' from Five/Peri, and that's because it's heralded as wonderful, in addition to 'The Bride of Peladon' because it's a Peladon story, but it's also Erimem's goodbye story. The only other one that well recieved is The Kingmaker, which has
    William Shakespeare
as the villain, which clearly means it's not canon anymore, sort of taking away the desire to purchase.

Well, there's all the theories that she is Amy's daughter. Amy's Daughter's name (according to some paper) is
    Melody
    . COINCIDENCE?

Did the Tenth Doctor warn his companions of Donna's
    brain wipe?
Say she bumps into Jack or someone in the street and he goes hey your the one who beat The Daleks
    her head will pop.

(side note although I love the TARDIS cast of series 5+ I still miss Donna Noble :p)

    Jack is in America.
    Rose is in alternate Universe.
    Sarah is... yeah.
Mickey and Martha died terrible deaths at the hands of that evil Sontaran guy whilst 10 looked smugly and laughed at their mundane demise. (I MADE MY OWN PLOT)

Fun thing: Russell originally was going to have Elton (from Love and Monsters) as one of the children of time. One can only hope it was so he could die a terrible death.

I liked Elton and Love and Monsters it was a refreshing change, I found it better than The Lodger that was trying to do a similar tone.

I wasn't a fan of the characters or the goofy comedy elements of Love and Monsters, but I really enjoyed the Electric Light Orchestra references.

It is completely out of character for the Doctor to turn that one lady into an immortal blow job machine. That is my entire reasoning for the dislike of the episode.

Love and Monsters is a terrible, terrible episode for oh so many reasons, none of which I'm about to expand upon for reasons of sanity. Needless to say, it was far too cartoony, poorly planned, ill-conceived and an absolute train-wreck of an episode.

HOWEVER. What I'm about to share will quite possibly make some of you change your mind about the ending. Read on if you will.

At the end of the episode, Elton is talking with Moaning Murtle-URSULA on his camera. However, the only time we see the new Moanin-URSULA is in a cut away from the camera's perspective. Meaning that we have no actual proof that Moan-URSULA is a talking paving slab who fellates people.

Mo-Ursula surviving could well all be in Elton's head.

Think about it. The explanation of how he lost his mother and the sudden loss of the woman he's just realized he loved could have made him snap and somehow imagine that she lives in the form of a paving slab. Maybe it's just a normal paving slab he's punctured a hole into and he's projecting M-URSULA onto that slab. Her voice, her face, her... fellatio...

    He's gone mad.

...doesn't that make so much more sense?

*shoots self at how sad that is*

So, the title for episode Eight is
    'Let's Kill Hitler'
apparently. I imagine the finale ending like this due to that:

River: So that's who I am!
Doctor: I know who River is now. Knowing who River is is cool.
    Amy: I'm Scottish!
    *rory dies*
Doctor: Now what do we do! I know!
    Let's kill Hitler!

Alex Kingston was apparently absolutely shocked and thought it incredibly clever when she was told who River was, which is a good sign towards her not being Amy's daughter - because that would be stupid and predicatble. If she's Amy's daughter, they had better have another secret that's odd and out of nowhere, like that she killed Kennedy and that's why shes in the 60s.

Also: Big Finish Month sales are on in less than four hours! Hoping for Releases 51-75, and I'm sure Friar'd be pretty happy too if that happened, even if it doesn't include a subscription in the sale. (protip just in case: Avoid 75. The McGann 'Scaredy Cat'. Considered the worst Big Finish period, it's only 75 minutes long and incredibly boring and predicatble and stupid.)
