Oh, honey, we all do it for fun. That doesn't explain Time Lords of the Rings.

    Hmmmmmmm......TO FANFICTION.NET AGAIN!

Yes it does. They forge the Rings of Power for their own amusement, but let Sauron take all the credit so that their whole "non-interference" code remains intact!

I never needed to see Frodo/Ten foot fetish fiction....never again.

That's fantastic! I love the twisted minds of fanfic writers. They think about the things I refuse to think about!

I have many times learned how accurate this rule is. Which means that there should be a Time Lord/necromancy thread out there somewhere...

The problem with rule 34 is the fact that it is a rule means it must be followed.

brought about the end of the world as we know it?

Most likely. I'm sort of scared to know the answer myself.

    So...uh...are we playing today?

You might not be too suited for this game then. We do rather little of just straight up killing things.

That reminds me, how did the rest of the session play out after I left?
  • edited May 2011
Odd, I don't really recall. Well I presume though as no one else ended up dead.

Just spent the day rummaging through old music that could get played during the game. It's sad that most new fantasy game themes these days all sound the same.

I should totally learn how to play my ocarina better in case I ever decide to play a bard.
  • edited May 2011
You totally should. It would be awesome!

I actually find it rather funny that I will probably never play bard, despite the fact that I have one all made up and ready to go, seeing as I have so many instruments just lying around my house...that I can also play.

I think you guys should decide to do this at a time that's more convenient for me. Although I don't know what that would be. But, um, you should figure it out.

That would be awesome! We could always use more people.

I play D&D in real life, but my friends have a hard time not making fart jokes long enough to get anything done sometimes.

Plus I kind of want to be a bard with an English accent for no apparent reason again.

Well...to be perfectly honest, we're not a significant improvement on that. But there is a bit of high-brow humor mixed in as well, so I guess it's all good.

If you let us know when is convenient for you that'd be a big help. However, Friday is kind of the only day we can do it. Trust me, we've tried to schedule it for other days (like Sunday), but they don't work for most of the players.

As for the actual time of the game, that's set because both our DM and one of our players is in the UK. So waiting until night time for us means they're up until an ungodly hour of the morning. We've got a nice compromise going by starting at 1-2pm (central time) which makes it 7-8pm for them.

Also we've got six players right now which is on top of the fact that we're epic level and we do very little fighting (I'm under the impression that a lot of our players prefer the diplomatic approach we've been taking to fights.) While the DM doesn't mind running a game with more than six dudes, I've found that having more players in that sort of environment clutters things and doesn't give everyone a good chance to roleplay. Especially when we're not all in the same room and can't tell when someone else is about to contribute.

I'm not at all saying you can't play. After all, having a fun, mature, enthusiastic group is the key to a fun RP experience, and I'm always happy to see more people who can contribute to that. I just want you to know what you'll be popping into if you find that you have Friday afternoons free some time soon.

Oh, and despite my incredibly formal response, I am not the DM. So she can always override my opinion on the matter. d:

I actually find it rather funny that I will probably never play bard, despite the fact that I have one all made up and ready to go, seeing as I have so many instruments just lying around my house...that I can also play.

I should probably make an effort to actually sing during the games, really. I just have such a girly voice I'm afraid it'll break the illusion.

Well, given that my IRL friend I offered to let join is out, we do have a slot open, but as for the time thing, we spent about a week trying to shuffle it around before just leaving it as it is because it does seem to be the best time for the group.

I do try to welcome interested players by all means, but yeah. The time isn't really getting shuffled unfortunately.

@Scnew: You should totally drop by for a few minutes and play as the psychotic mandolin. That would be hilarious.

Running an impromtu Eberron D&D game tonight at level 1. There's no limit on race and class, but if you plan on taking a monstrous race make sure that you have all of the monstrous Humanoid/fey/etc. levels taken so you at least have one level in your class.

    Anybody interested?
  • edited June 2011
Interested, but still trying to determine whether or not I should stay at the lab until six. On the one hand, an interesting lecture and paper discussion, on the other, freedom and possibly a DnD game.

We could do another installation of the Dragon game. Just some random buggering about for an hour or so.
  • edited June 2011
Oooh! Oooh! We could just have random conversations and talk about nothing! Just like in real life...but with DRAGONS!
  • edited June 2011
    I would but I'm knackered.
  • edited June 2011
So...I don't know how late I'll be tomorrow or if I'll be able to make it at all. Things were looking pretty good since I only had about an hour of work to do in the lab, but I just got summoned for jury duty for the day. I've been calling all week and they just HAD to choose the one day that I was TRYING to keep clear. Typical. Juuuuust typical.

    Yeah...I'm sorta pissed.

If for some reason I get out of everything obscenely early I might be able to make it for the very bitter end, but I'm feeling very pessimistic.
  • edited June 2011
Aw. Well here's to hoping you do get out early. As it stands, I'm probably going to be a bit late getting the session started as I'm currently not allowed in my room because they're redoing the carpet in Constantine House. We're supposed to have it done by 4-ish today, but you know how these things get...
  • edited June 2011
I'll be late as well today, that is if I even make it. Things keep cropping up on Fridays at the moment. I'll try to make it but can't promise anything.

Well if it's a later session, that would be quite good for me, actually. I might actually be back by four or five (my time) or so should I manage to be suitably unlikeable to the attorneys. Here's hoping.

So I want to give Samara a last name, but I'm drawing an enormous blank. Anybody have any ideas for me?
  • edited June 2011
What sort of sound are you wanting to go for? Alliterative? Rhyming? Fancy? Common? You want it to pertain to shadows in some way? Or have nothing to do with anything at all?

Where is she from on the content? Does she have family? Do they hold a profession of some sort? Are they noble? Just wealthy? Street rats? Blue collar?

Is she picking the name herself? Is there someone's memory she'd want to honor? A person she'd want to connect to like an old lover or dear friend?
