It was an accident and I will regret it forever. How the hell was I supposed to know you were smart enough to tie your own shoes, much less figure out how I did it?
What is it with nerds and being against body mods? Hair dying as well as other mods have been a part of human history ever since we first came into being. It's just as natural as wearing silly clothes for appearance sake rather than practical use.
edit: i should add that i dont mean "OMG Y U DONT LIEK MOD" but rather, i find it curious that most nerds i know have this weird distaste for mods of any kind.
I'm confused as well. A piercing is a piercing is a piercing, but nobody questions a hole in the ear. And what's wrong with an unnaturally colored dye? Blue/pink dyes can compliment some faces better than anything else. Makeup can be good or bad depending on the case, but generally it's no more "fake" than tying your hair back to change your look. (that said, it seems to me that the women who cake on the most makeup tend to be the most beautiful without it)
One of my exes had everything on this list but the makeup: her hair was dyed pink, her lip, tongue, nose, eyebrow, and ears were pierced, and she had a number of prominent tattoos. But there was nothing fake about her, and to this day I've never been so struck by a person's beauty.
Another thing is that some people genuinely don't like the way they look "naturally". It's really unfortunate when this happens, but at times no amount of attempted comforting works. In this case, I'd much rather the person do "unnatural" things to their body as long as it's safe and they're much happier in doing so.
Regardless, make up is NOT a bad thing at all. And I personally think you guys who say that you don't like make up like it more than you realize.
The only valid argument the 'fake'-complaining people have is dyed hair. There's not much make up (though the blurry crappy cell phone photo quality sure can make look like there is), and calling piercing what's clearly a birthmark really baffles me. Girl A's really okay. Certainly better than Girl B.
Truth be told, I generally don't like dyed hair (but I'm okay with it if it looks okay), and I don't like too much make up (because it usually makes things look worse than better), and I don't really care about piercing (though there's none on girl A). Regarding make up. Kudos to Secret Fawful who managed to find photos of actresses which I kinda like where they look HORRENDOUS (especially Scarlett Johansson; please print that photo and burn it).

Really good looking women don't need makeup. For instance some women have beautiful pink lips by their genes already whilst others have to paint some colour on their lips in order to fake it, ...
But if properly used, a.o. less is more, it can make women look more interesting/beautiful. Whilst things like Kajal/Mascara mostly always work, other things are more a no-go and it's horrible to touch someone else's face where you afterwards feel the need to clean your hands or if faces on a closer distance turn into paintings.
So...I'm having trouble grasping this. They're attractive...but they're not attractive?
If you're having trouble grasping the concept that attractive can become not attractive when it tries to be too attractive, how can you judge how attractive someone is?

I judge how attractive people are based on the ultimate example of attractiveness and beauty. Myself.

So what you're saying is... you're a girl. Or a feminine looking guy. I can't think of any other reason why a male would judge a female's beauty based on his male looks
So what you're saying is... you're a girl. Or a feminine looking guy. I can't think of any other reason why a male would judge a female's beauty based on his male looks
It's easy to judge anyone else, regardless of gender, based on true perfection.
I think the problem with using words like "fake" is that people will read a bad connotation even if you didn't mean one. Of course things like make-up and piercings are modifications, and therefore not the "natural" and all, but I should point out that in Guru's picture puzzlebox's leg looks shaved to me, which is just as "fake" as make-up. I'd say as far as permanency and intensity are concerned, it's somewhere between make-up and a piercing.
Of course, wearing clothes is "fake" too, among other things.
Anyways. I'm among people who dislike "fake" stuff... but I'm really talking about myself here. I don't want to dye my hair (although I'm not really against it, but I like it better the way it is), I don't want to wear make-up, etc, etc. And all of that is fine when you're talking about yourself, and I would say it's also fine if you're talking about your tastes, but I get uncomfortable with it is when you start adding judgment or pressure to it. Saying that someone should or should not do something to their bodies is something that irks me, because they should get to decide for themselves. Saying you like it less one way than another is fine though, since that's only about your own tastes.
As for my own tastes, put me on the "natural" side. My main thing is that I like imperfections, I feel they make the rest more beautiful. I love the space between two teeth or the fact that one is crooked, I like acne scars, I like freckles rather than a skin that's the same all around, etc (freckles aren't something I consider imperfections, but they're "points of interests" and I'm including them because they seem to be photoshopped out frequently).
To me, it makes the difference between the "perfection" of magazines, and people you meet in the street. As beautiful as people in the street are, they don't have perfect skin and perfect teeth and perfect symmetry or whatever, and it's the things that are NOT perfect that float my boat.
It doesn't mean I like people better if they're ugly or anything like that, but just like CGI that looks too much like real people starts getting creepy, pictures that are too smoothed out look creepy to me, it seems to me the people aren't individuals anymore, and more like dolls or statues. And I can see how it might be the point, but if you're talking about a relationship or sexual fantasies, I want to be able to relate to an individual as a person, and so the photoshopping and heavy make-up is a step back from that. I would say that it feels like a protection, too. If someone is wearing make-up, then I want to see them without the make-up, because that means they're making themselves vulnerable for me, showing something they don't show many people. It's like removing your clothes, you have to be taking a risk to do that. And if I say someone walking around naked, I would find that attractive, not because of the nudity itself, but because of the level of comfort and confidence the person must have to be able to walk around naked like that and let everyone see everything, without anywhere to hide. To some extent, I feel the same way about people who wear no make-up, don't die their hair, etc, etc, even if they're female (and then it's not about anything romantic or sexual. It's just going to make me go "I like your style"). But that doesn't mean they have to walk around naked all of the time, either.
For tattoos and piercings, or dying your hair, etc, that's something else altogether. They can be a reflection of who the person is and what they like, just like the kind of clothes they wear. I might be a bit disappointed, for instance if they have a tattoo, that I don't get to see the skin that's behind it (kind of like someone who would wear a shirt and never ever remove it), but I'd be interested to know why they got it, how, and what's its significance, because all of that is a part of them, too.
So here you go, I think I made my position clear here, I'm not sure what else to add.
Yeah, a beautiful soft firm pure skin (great cellular connective tissue) beats every taatoo, even the very good ones and piercings are something for ...... If god or the universe would have wanted that i run around with metal sticks in my ears, nose, tongue, forehead, nipples, penis, ... then i would be born with some of them already.
By the way, Cello, I wasn't jerking your chain or anything (okay, I was just a little), I do legitimately think you're cute, that's just the only photo I could find of just you.
Also, way to go guys, leaving me hanging as the only one to post pictures (Fawful and Boxxy doesn't count).

If god or the universe wanted people to survive childhood spinal diseases without crippling them later to life due lack of the intervention of the cutting and prodding of silly looking men in a scary looking room, he would have done so. :0
I, and i'm sure that god or the universe * agree with me here, think that there is a big difference in medical achievements and making pointless holes in your body. I like my body, i mostly treat it well and especially the human body of women is amazingly beautiful. There is no need to be mean to it. I'm sorry i love them just the way they are.
I would say some is for the sake of fake and some for fashion.
Why do you use mascara? Often to enhance your eyelashes and trying to make them appear more dense and longer. Now if you're already born with dense and long eyelashes there is no need to. On the other side if you're after a certain look you can colour your eyelids, that's more for fashion purposes.

(Also, I love cheese. Cheddar mostly, but I'm not exactly shy of the other cheese either)

Well, since beauty in nature hides in imperfections... if you're perfect... I don't think I would like to see you. Like, ever
No, beauty in nature hides because it's ashamed of how ugly it is in comparison to me.
... Chuck? O_o
Aha! So you're not Chuck Norris! Rutten impostor, tried to pose yourself as Chuck! Burn, heretic!
I'd kick that bitch's ass.
I thought about that last night...:p Notice I never specified anything beyond the poll limitations. All I said was "attractive"
