You know, Dragon*Con is actually, um, a CONVENTION. With like, booths and panels and shit. There's stuff to do there. One could easily argue that the convention itself is a thing to be doing.

Talking to Comrade Mortis, the main attraction is the drinking apparently.
So... when they keep saying "speedy things comes in, speedy things come out", they do mean "you drink it fast and it makes you throw up", right? Because I'm having a doubt and wouldn't want to misunderstand them, but, I mean, it's not much of an incentive to drink their drinks, yet I can't think of another explanation (well, it might come out right away from somewhere else but that would probably be even less pleasant).
I have a friend who refuses to play Portal and I can't talk him into it. I even offered to buy it for him and he said that even if I did, he wouldn't play it. It's pretty frustrating because I know he'd like it.

Yeah after failed attempts to get a mate to buy portal2, i gave him my ps3 copy. A month has passed and having PStalked him, he only has a couple of trophies indicating a few mins of playtime and minimal effort. So I asked for it back and he said he was enjoying it, before admitting he doesnt have the orange portal yet.
Wait, what are we looking at again? Looks like a Portal-themed Twister mat right now, which probably isn't what you were doing, but that is a fascinating idea
I don't think I ever said. I've edited the post to include the original concept drawing, and here's something else.
The frame was constructed for a different project, so we're not using the front part, but the back part will be supporting this thing. It's part of a balcony decoration for a convention.
No, it's not a skit or anything, just a balcony decorating contest.
Considering that most of the entries last year looked like this...
...I like our chances. We only have about seven weeks/six Saturdays left, so I don't know if we'll have time to do it, but a turret would be a pretty awesome addition to our balcony.
You'll wipe the floor with that kind of competition! Best of luck.
Thanks! If we win, the prize is our hotel room paid for next year, two weekend badges to the convention, and four passes (which we'll sell off or give away) to their crappy New Year's Eve event, so winning the balcony contest would make PAX or Dragoncon infinitely more possible next year.
Is there anyone with a graphics card good enough to run Portal 2 at the highest settings who would be willing to help me get a few screenshots of co-op for the balcony decoration?

I can run it at that setting. I've never played co-op though.

I'm pretty sure that I can run it at the highest setting, but I'm not sure if my internet is good enough yet to keep me in the co-op long enough. I also don't have Portal 2 loaded on the computer that can run it on the highest settings. I'll see if I can though.

Even better! That'll help me get the last two achievements I need. I've been unexpectedly called away from my computer, though, so would you be up for it in around two hours?
Well, I wasted entirely too much of my night on Portal. First, I played around with split-screen co-op, to get an idea of what screenshots I want to get later.
Then, with my new temporary screenshots, I started screwing around in Photoshop. Remember my original pencil sketch?
I couldn't help myself and enhanced it. (It printed really dark for some reason.)
I basically took a bunch of screenshots, cut out the parts I wanted, resized them, and pasted them over the original drawing. The balcony floor will just be whatever carpet is there (not like anyone can see it from ground level), and there won't be a button. Instead, since those short pieces of wall won't be there, the blue dots will continue off to the side, behind the wall with the purple portal.
So DAISHI, that gives you an idea what I'm looking to get. While I do have pretty much exactly the screenshots I want, my graphics card can barely handle running split screen at all, much less at higher quality, and since I'm blowing these screenshots up to poster size, the fewer imperfections the better. And to get both ATLAS and P-Body, we'll have to quit multiplayer, then change characters (Who gets which character is based on who is hosting. Whoever invites the other player gets ATLAS.).
Cave Johnson’s Flaming Lemonade (Portal 2 Cocktail)
Ingredients:
10 oz. lemonade
2 oz. limoncello
1 splash Everclear (or other grain alcohol)
1 grain alcohol-soaked lemon wheel
Directions: Cut a lemon wheel and soak it in grain alcohol while you make the drink. Mix the lemonade and limoncello into a tall glass, then float a splash of grain alcohol on top of the drink. Place the lemon wheel on the rim of the glass and ignite the top. Admire your delicious weapon, then extinguish and drink.
“I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!” -Cave Johnson
Hmm. I probably would have photoshopped those portals to be the stardard single-player orange and teal style, to be brighter and slightly more recognizable. It's still definitely really cool though.
I cannot express enough how awesome you were to be so patient with me and get such perfect shots. I couldn't have hoped for better.
And I did originally plan on just doing the blue and orange portals, but if I did, then the portals logically should've had a view of the hotel atrium inside of them, which really wouldn't have worked so great. I decided to do the multiplayer portals so the other ends could be "off-screen" and we could show something inside of them. Not that anybody would've thought anything of it if I'd used blue and orange. Also, I'm totally fail at Photoshop.

I can't get my friend to buy Portal 2, even though he played the original with me once and liked it.

I can send you Turret building instructions if you need them.

Thanks again to DAISHI for helping me with the screenshots!
