More importantly though - HOW THE HELL DOES THIS COUNT AS AN INDIE GAME, STEAM?

Running With Scissors has been independent for a very long time.

    ...I can't argue with that!

I've been warned off this in the past, and having played the demo, I can see why. Avoid.

Why do I own this? Oh. I put it in my "It came in a bundle" category.
  • edited November 2012
Oh, right. IndieRoyale 22, the Oktoberfest Bundle, which I bought entirely to get Hector on Steam. I also really liked Chime from that bundle, but I already owned it on Steam, so all I got from the bundle is an extra Steam key for it, which I'm still sitting on. Actually, I should probably get around to unloading some of my extra games in the Goodwill thread. Which would require me to figure out what I have extra keys for/copies of.

    ...This could take a while.

If you want to give me Chime, I'll happily take it off your hands. (One of my favourite xbox live titles actually. Its like crack! XD)

Might wanna pop the rest onto the Goodwill thread, if you haven't already.

    Daily Deal:

    capsule_467x181.jpg

    £7.49(est) / $10/19 / €10.19

I gave this a go recently and didn't get very far. The interface annoyed me, the character fades out-fades in to each location which I found extremely awkward and there's very little story at the start so I had no idea who I was or what I was doing. It may well get better later on - I'd count on it, in fact - but it's a hell of a way to start.

Chaos on Deponia is out! Woo!

Oh, and there's some deals on Steam too. Hey ho.

    Daily Deal:

    capsule_467x181.jpg

The customary pair of Midweek Madness deals now:

Afraid I'm working late tonight, so either someone else can yadda yadda yadda.

I remember playing and enjoying the first game on my Amiga almost two decades ago. It doesn't look like much has changed besides the graphics and the gameplay videos don't really sell it for me. If I were to play a Cannon Fodder game again, I'd probably go for the original on GOG.com.

I've actually heard that, unlike the recent Jagged Alliance, this 'sequel by a different company years after the rest' isn't actually that bad. So if you're actually interested, you could do a lot worse.

Dark Souls is on offer today. £20

So very tempted. I already have Dark Souls on 360 though (but not the expansion).

Hmmm.... it will probably be on offer again at christmas, so I'll pick it up then.

Daily Deal's coming later, but in the meantime here's another pretty impressive offer on Steam games.

Get Games is having another 2 for £7 offer, and all the games are on Steam. They are:
    - Alien vs. Predator (2010)
    - Company of Heroes (Gold)
    - Jet Set Radio
    - Just Cause 2
    - Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
    - Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter

Not quite as great as the deals the site's had in the past, but it's still pretty good. Just... avoid Kane & Lynch.
  • edited November 2012
Aw crap. I have all of those.

I caved in and got Dark Souls. Dammit.

EDIT: Also I recommend Jet Set Radio and Just Cause 2 if you don't have them.

Jet Set Radio is actually a pretty good port, and my best friend absolutely loved Just Cause 2.
(I haven't played it YET because I don't think its a game on can just jump into and play for a bit)
  • edited November 2012
Forgot to mention (because it never stops getting old) that you need Windows Vista or above to play Just Cause 2.

Also, there's a bunch of other offers at Get Games. Serious Sam, F.E.A.R, Civilization...

    c-c-c-Combo Breaker!

I haven't played any of these games. Not even Nuclear Dawn, which has been given through free-to-play weekends, discounts and holiday giveaways out the wazoo.

Are any of these games actually any good?

    :(

Never played 'em. They're either multiplayer only (bleh) or just not my type of game.

Nope. Fray had a LOT of potential but shipped so broken and crippled that the couple cool things it does simply can't be enjoyed the way they should be. I don't know if they've patched it since launch but if I am willing to say "It had cool ideas but isn't worth playing because it's broken" then you damn well better believe it is rendered unplayable.

No. They are all pretty much garbage.

You're a mod now, so you can totally get away with it.

So tempting... so cheap for such a good game... but next week is the Black Friday sale.

Well you could also do another thing. Close this thread. This way only mods can post here and even Vanomionadingdongadong would be very pleased with you. Think about it!

Yes. You also like The Binding of Isaac, whether because or in spite of how "cutesy-gross" it is, I'm not sure.

I'm not saying all of your taste in games is flawed, but I couldn't stand to play that game for very long at all.

I could. But that would require effort on my part, so I'll let it slide. THIS TIME.

Oh, before I forget - I'll be back late tomorrow, so you actually have permission to post the Daily Deal this time.

A TON of people did and still do play the game for hours. Maybe it's your taste that's flawed.

@Darth Marsden: Now I don't want to any more schmoll.gif

Then I guess my taste is flawed as well, 'cause I didn't really like it either.

All I have to say about The Binding of Isaac, is that 20 hours do not lie.
