That's true, but FFXIV is really kicking them in the beanbag.
Things Square could do to save themselves:
1) Release Kingdom Hearts 3.
2) Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII since a lot of people still want that one.
3) Remake Final Fantasy VII.
Instead we get Kingdom Hearts Dream, Drop, Distance which is being released on a platform that has...well, not done as well as it should thanks to more advertising of the 3D rather than the actual improvements over the DS it has, and an HD "port" of Final Fantasy X, which really...why do we need it? The game still looks good. Why not remake VII so Cloud doesn't look...errrr...deformed is saying it nicely.
I wouldn't mind a Final Fantasy 7 remake. But I would rather a Kingdom Hearts 3. I love the first two but I don't want to play the handheld spin offs. I want part three!!!
Oh, and if they did remake FF7 I would hope that the keep the battle system the same. But improving the graphics, fixing the translations an improving on the story by getting rid of plot holes would be nice
I read an article that changed my thinking on VII altogether. One was how weird and distinct it was, and how it could get away with things because of the lower resolution graphics. Do I want a high rez transgender Cloud? I'm fairly progressive but it's still something that would sit odd with me.
Heh reminds me that. I remember reading a debate not long back. It was regarding the complaint of recent FF characters being stupidly androgynous. If you think about it, the characters from the earlier FF's are way more feminine looking than Vaan, Hope or whatever could ever be. However, people sort of accepted it more, because it wasn't as obvious. So like you'd see it on the boxart maybe, but ingame it's just a small face icon and the blocky sprite. However, now it's full 3d and you see that character all the time, suddenly it becomes a problem, or an annoyance to some.
Nomura's...said that none of the Disney worlds used so far will be returning again (though I'm really hoping that this doesn't exclude the possibility of a Tron: Legacy version of Space Paranoids).
You know, a small, miniscule part of me wants to give a @$#* about Dream Drop Distance...but then I think about how Square has been acting lately, and I know that there's something about the game that's crap and they're just not showing it.
5. Metroid Prime (1 and 3)
I'm lumping these two together under one entry because they sort of tie together. In Metroid Prime,
just that short clip of a hand bursting from the remains of Metroid Prime, showing that something went wrong and things aren't over just yet, was an incredible teaser that I still love.
And in Metroid Prime 3,
I really loved the way the series culminated with Samus going to Phaaze, the source of all the trouble in the last three games, and finally eliminating her doppelganger. Then on top of that, I really enjoyed the sequence where she returned to Elysia to reflect. I thought it was simple, but effective.
4. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
You guys really didn't think I would make a list without including a Kingdom Hearts game, did you? Throughout the game, you pretty much know where things are going, but it still blew me away to actually see how everything played out and where everyone ended up.
3. Assassin's Creed II
As much as the end of Gemini Rue had me glued to my seat, wanting to reach the ending, that's how bad the ending of Assassin's Creed II left me wanting the next game.
It pretty much blew my mind when Ezio finally reached his goal, only for the hologram to ignore him and speak to Desmond, knowing that he would be listening in on Ezio's memories over 500 years later. And to cap it all off, Desmond's response was perfect. "What the fuck?!"
2. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
I've always loved the story of Majora's Mask, so naturally, it has my favorite ending of the series. Granted, I've never seen what the ending is like if you don't complete the Bomber's Notebook, but in the ending where you do, I love seeing all of the game's plot threads resolved, the end result of every single person you helped during the game.
1. Gemini Rue
That's right. After going through the list of every game I've ever played, choosing my favorite endings, and weighing them against each other, I decided that my favorite video game ending is from an indie game.
I admit, as the game came closer to the reveal, I began to guess that Sayuri and Epsilon Five were same person, but I didn't realize that Delta Six and Azriel were the same person until the last second, and it left me reeling. By that point, even though I had no business still being awake, I couldn't leave my computer until I had finished that game.
Honorable Mention: Tales of Monkey Island, Episode 4: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood
If it wasn't for this ending, I probably wouldn't be posting on this forum right now. This is the one case where I can honestly say that I've made a ton of friends just because the ending of a game was so intense, I just had to talk to somebody about it, and I came to these forums to do that.
From What You Said About Kingdom Hearts im guessing ur a big fan?
You weren't here when I spent about three months running the whole series. I got endless shit about it because I spent a quarter of a year playing nothing else.
No, I just felt like running the series in chronological order, starting with my first play of Birth by Sleep, and ending with my first play of Re:Coded (which wasn't out yet when I started). Other than that, I'd played the whole series before, though I hadn't played Riku's half of Chain of Memories, and I played Re:Chain of Memories for the first time for that run.
I played all the important ones, the ones on the consoles.
Birth by Sleep was as significant a Kingdom Hearts game as either of the console ones with near identical gameplay (though with an added layer of complexity) and what I would consider an even heavier impact on the storyline than the first game. But I've argued this into the ground with you and had everything I've said completely ignored, so I'm done with it.

Come on buddy, I didn't mean to get that negative a reaction out of you Apologies, I knew you'd respond, but meant it more in good fun than spite.
Birth by sleep is awesome game I love it but when I saw the new trailer for 3DS I was shocked and excited like OMG what the HELL?? Heres the Epic trailer right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BssrlR_rdFc&feature=related
Watch it and be amazed X3
I own KH1, KH2, and 358/2 Days (have yet to play that one). I liked Sora's character and the story in the first game but the second game...all it sounded like to me was "OMG heartless! Let's get the heartless some more and forget everything else that was important!" (Though it's been a while since I've played it, I swear he didn't care for his friends as much aka Riku for example). Even if it wasn't how it was supposed to come off, Sora sounded like a broken record compared to Roxas who seemed to have more emotion going on. Don't get me wrong I love Kingdom Hearts, it just really bothers me when a character I like doesn't seem to offer more to the table. I also agree that the first half of the second game drags, but after that it gets a lot better. I haven't really gotten any of the other games just because I don't own the hand helds for them, I wouldn't mind playing them though.
One thing i think they did great in KH2 was Roxas' friendship with his friends in Twlight Town
I call bullshit! If I had a friend who showed signs of mental problems strong enough to walk off a train track and almost got hit by a train because he thought he saw a ghost train I wouldn't get all moody at him like its his fault hes seeing things. I would talk to him about it or try and help not act like a dick.

I don't remember that part but one part i remember and i hate is when he fights nobodies with Seifer and when his friends see him with Seifer after the fight they just assume that Roxas was hanging out with Seifer and never question why he was with Seifer.
...I can't tell if you're trolling or if you really meant that. It'd be impossible not to notice. They also have the same voice actors in all languages, same as Sora and Vanitas. It's all on purpose. Roxas looks like Ventus because Sora had Ventus's heart inside him. Roxas can dual-wield Keyblades because one of them is Sora's and one belongs to Ventus. And Vanitas looks like Sora because of Sora's heart connecting to Ventus.
Also, tonight I went back to Re:coded and started trying to get the 20 trophies I need to unlock the secret ending before 3D comes out.

You and many other people. I'm not one of them, but Versus XIII looks to be a different beast altogether.
As for VII getting remade...if they do it RIGHT, it could be great. But it could also be crap.

Chain of Memories was important, as was BBS.

I find it rather pointless as I'm sure by now everyone knows whether they like the games or not, but its there.
