    1. Will I get a Steamkey to redeem the game on Steam?

No. If you want the game on Steam, you'll have to buy it from Steam.
    2. Will the game include german language?

I don't know this one. Hopefully someone else can answer it.
    3. How much would cost the shipping to germany? (the preorder page doesn't give me the shipping price.)

It's a downloadable game, so shipping isn't an issue.

While on the subject, will we get the same bundle discount for all the WD episodes, on Steam, as currently on the TellTale Games page?

Maybe, maybe not. I guess we'll just have to wait until The Walking Dead's Steam page appears.

Sorry, I just have to merge all these question-threads into the FAQ...

On the topic of German language, I'd consider it probable! The last two games had German voices, and there's not really a reason why this one should be different. Here's hoping for official confirmation... ;)

Link302 one major benefit of buying direct from this site is the end of season DVD usually for the cost of shipping or sometimes there is a deluxe version with extras, for a little more money.

Nothing has been announced yet... but if you buy from steam instead you will NOT be able to get a DVD if it is announced down the road... Something to consider.

I do not know how much shipping to Germany is.. but from what I understand it can get a little pricey.. maybe one of our German friends can shed some light on how much it has cost them with past releases.... Vainamoinen?

Maybe we'll wait for a formal announcement of a bonus DVD. I have the feeling this won't happen, though. 22.49$ for five episodes AND the collector's DVD, that would be a bit much to ask?!? It would kill off one major USP for the Telltale store though if the DVDs were aborted...

Shipping varied a lot in the last years - can't really put a number on it. I once got shipping for about 15$... and once for free...

I think BTTF sold for the same amount... Regular price $24.99

Since we're talking about Steam, I have a question. Will The Walking Dead have Steam achievements? Puzzle Agent 2 and Jurassic Park both did, so I'm kind of hoping that'll be the standard for Telltale from now on, especially since you have to think up achievements for the console version anyway.

And on a more general note, any plans to retroactively give any older games Steam achievements? (I think my inner achievement whore is showing. :p )

Dunno if this says anything about Steam or just the game in general but the menu in the leaked xbox preview had a tab called achievements.

That was the Xbox 360 version, though. Of course it'll have achievements. The Steam version could be a different story.

Yeah true. But I was thinking if they did it on one, they would do it across the board.

My question is, if this game ends on episode 5,will you guys have Lee's group meet up with Rick's group to tie together the game, comic, and TV show?

Let's be honest, that would be epic, especially if AMC played along and added Lee and his group to the show.:D
  • VainamoinenVainamoinen Moderator

What makes you think Lee survives episode five? :D

    You're right... there's still hope. ;)

I'd just like to know if a potential dvd version will be discounted for those who bought the digital delivery edition of TWD.
If there won't be a DVD, I won't kill myself :p, but I don't want to be forced to buy the game twice to get the physical copy.
That's the case of JP and I really hope it's just an exception to the Telltale rule. ;)

I'm for clarity as well. ;)

However, the "digital deluxe" edition of Jurassic Park - the one with the DVD - was the only one that could actually be pre-ordered, so no one was forced to buy two versions just to get the DVD.

Having seen the leaked footage and read / seen some interviews I'm still not sure of a few things:

    1) Is there an inventory system?
There's an inventory, but it's slightly managed for you. There are very few "use monkey with valve" puzzles, but there are items you collect which show up on screen. That said, we only let you use relevant items with relevant objects (if you have a key in your inventory, you can try it on locks and doors in the world, but the game won't even let you try to use a key with a candy bar you find on a shelf for instance).
    2) Are there inventory puzzles?
See above. There are some though they aren't Monkey Island deep.
    3) Are there dialogue puzzles
Yes, though they are more often "how is a scene played" than "can you outsmart someone.
    4) Are there environmental puzzles?
    Yep!
    3) I've heard there are "problems" are these simply moral decisions that whilst require thought, not problem solving skills?
That is often the case. There are problems to solve, yes, but the repercussions of your actions and how they spill over to other situations is often the focus of dialog-heavy scenes.

I don't know if those are the answers you're hoping for or not! Walking Dead feels great for an interactive story and problem solving treatment, for a game where what you say and do matters and have reprecussions, where there are tough choices with no right answer, and that's what we gave it, but it didn't feel right for the game to be filled with a bunch of insane head scratching adventure game "use cheese wheel with stone face" action.
  • edited March 2012
You have to admit... it would be pretty awesome to include a cheese wheel stone face puzzle.

It's so early in the release process for The Walking Dead that we don't have anything to announce yet in regards to a physical release of the game. As soon as I have actual news about it, it will be posted here.

The third episode of Playing Dead is up on IGN:

    http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/03/22/playing-dead-episode-3-walking-dead-the-game#disqus_thread

Some new gameplay footage and and an interview with Kirkman.

Looks pretty interesting. One question though: can we turn off those "So-and-so will remember this" messages? It kind of ruins the immersion. I want to believe that the characters are real people, not parts of a computer program that have had their variables changed.

Yep, I believe you can turn that off. (But Jake may prove me wrong)

Would like that feature as well. I want my decisions to be a surprise when they actually do take effect later on.

Also, IGN's website has this brilliant feature where after 10 minutes of pure loading, it doesn't load a second, so when will this be on youtube?

Before you even start a new game, it asks if you want that stuff on or not (Normal UI displays everything, or Minimal UI, which hides the choice popups, and hides the glowing dots on hotspots in the world), and as crofael said, you can then turn the notifications and dots back on and off in the settings menu at any time as you play.
  • edited March 2012
the things you say to people carries over to the next episode? OH MAN! its going to be hard to remember the things I say between episodes... I may have to play this game with a notebook on my desk to write in.
  • edited March 2012
Okay, as I read its unlike the gameplay for JP, I'm going to try for a preorder.
Of course, I've read it's not a 90s adventure game, but it sounds okay, and as I'm a WD-fan, I can at least give it a shoot.

Nice trailer / ingame stuff btw.

I'm still curoious about the game controls. What can you tell?

I remember from the leak(sorry if you don't want discussing this) the zombie seen where you had to select the glowing dots to survive, if you shut off the hud, would those glowing dots also be shut off? And can you have the choice popups, but not the glowing dots?

If you choose to have a minimal UI, then the dots won't gradually fade into view as you move your reticle close to them. You'll only see a dot when your reticle is directly over a selectable object or entity. So with the minimalist view you'll really need to explore a scene in order to find out what you can interact with, but you'll still know when you've found something so you don't feel like you need to mash over everything that could potentially have an interaction.

And yes, in the settings menu you can choose to have choice popups but not dots, or any combination thereof.

    that sounds brilliant.

Love how the gameplay looks so far, to be honest I love it. This is my type of game (choice, etc), and Telltale is really doing a good job so far. The animations look good as well, albeit the zombies foots interacting with the ground looked kind of off. I will probably pre-order the game soon.

After playing through the first 2 chapters of "Jurassic Park" last night, I just hope that there's a lot more direct control in "Walking Dead".

From the leaked footage, it looks more interactive in terms of being able to physically move your chracters around - but still qute minimally.

Given that it was only a few minutes worth of gameplay, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt - but I love the graphic style.
  • edited March 2012
I think this kind of game is perfect for THE WALKING DEAD, so I'm on.

I still hope to get a season DVD to put next to all my Telltale games, I'll cross my fingers.

PD: By the way, I think a classic adventure game would be PERFECT for FABLES.

From watching the gameplay footage it seems that most of the attack was "press A now" almost seeming rehearsed. Will there be times where we will be able to swing the weapon at our free will?

You'll be able to directly control Lee. Worry not!

Where do I find the mysterious developer forums mentioned in the Preorder FAQ?
Access to the developer forums (get inside info direct from the dev team)

And yes I preordered the game ;)

It can take a while for you to see it.

I'll include you in this list, just to make sure. Hitting F5 on the forums main page might also help.

First post after three years, congrats!! ;)

Thanks for the help. I can't see it yet but I'll just give it a little more time.

@Vainamoinen: Do you think 1-2 posts every 3 years is too much? I'll try to be less talkative ;) Acutally I never had a problem with any telltale game and could find most answers by searching through the forums. Looks like the thread you linked slipped through my search pattern :)
