Had my eye on Shadowgrounds, but after reading about the nonexistent save system, I won't buy it. This is exactly what ruined the Twisted Realities for me.
Nope... I'm just too old for games that force me to two hour sessions.
I bought and tried it when I started with gog.com... but the controls were just too clunky for me. I couldn't get into it - I do see where the fascination came from though.
Double classics today, folks. Start off with a classic... I think Apogee platformer, Hocus Pocus for $5.99. And, though it's an update day late, it's still a good Valentine's day game, get Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail for $5.99. Not awesome enough? How about a new installer for the Leisure Suit Larry 1-6 pack that actually includes the SVGA version of Larry 6?
I'm still convinced that this was supposed to be the Valentine's day game, but GOG and Night Dive managed to get everything ready to go earlier for System Shock 2.

Ooh, double bonus! I wasn't expecting GOG.com to add the SVGA version of Larry 6 to the Larry pack so soon.
eh... It's okay. It's a humorous GTA1 clone. Yes, that's what they were going for, but it's more of a game that you play for a little bit once in a while rather than one you play for hours, as the gameplay is just okay and the funny references can get tired if you play for too long.
GOG brings us another two games today. First off is the Sensible World of Soccer 96/97 for $5.99, which initial reactions seem to like much more than the 2006 release. Also, for adventure fans is Richard & Alice for $5.99, which I guess is a point-and-click adventure that's developed by some people from Eurogamer.
Friday Update: Check out the Apogee Action deal this weekend on GOG. 60% off most Apogee titles (besides Balls of Steel and Hocus Pocus, obviously). I dunno, maybe I'll get Terminal Velocity, but it's not Radix, and that's what I've been waiting for.
Also, check out This Week in GOG for the usual recap and clue for next Thursday's release.
Today's classic Gem Promo is The Incredible Machine. Why yes, this just got a price drop in the "Pricing Experiment", so I wonder what that means for them.
Tuesday Update: After a fairly constant barrage of classic games, looks like GOG is now in an indie games kick. Let's start with Driftmoon, a top-down RPG/Adventure game at the introductory price of $11.99. Also up on the docket today is 99 Levels to Hell, a platformer shooter with randomly generated levels, for the introductory price of $7.99.
Edit: Since I don't want to quintuple post, tomorrow's update will probably be edited into this one, unless someone else posts something.
Wednesday Update: The Indie Gem Promo today is Miasmata for a whopping 60% off. Also, hey, free DLC for Omerta: City of Gangsters. That's gotta count for something, right? Right?
Thursday Update: Step into the over-the-top action, Grand Theft Mexico-fueled, Total Overdose for $5.99. Also, we have King of Fighters... wait, no, not King of Fighters, but the Team 17 fighting game Ultimate Body Blows, also for $5.99.
Alrighty, some creative post editing and deleting, I've consolidated the weeks updates into more or less one post. So NOW, technically I'm only triple-posting, which is much more acceptable.
What was I doing here? Oh, right, the Weekend Deal. Yeah, it's 50% off stuff by Daedalic. I dunno, I wasn't that impressed by what little of the Deponia demo I played. Frankly, I'd much rather have a Sierra sale so I can grab the rest of the Quest games, but whatever.
Also, as is usual, check out This Week in GOG for a recap and clue to one of next week's game. Your clue is "Number 3". Speculation is that this could be any game that's third in the franchise, or the third release of a game in said franchise. Or System Shock because, you know, it's third on the wishlist and all that.
Oh, good. They have Deponia 2 on sale, which was the one that was missing from the Deponia bundle in their end of the world sale. Now my GOG.com Deponia collection can be complete.

People are also saying it's The Settlers III, which I kinda have to agree with.

Yeah, that's probably what it is. They've been doing that a lot lately, where their clues can be taken multiple different ways, hence why I thought of System Shock. Of course, the only reason it can't be System Shock is because there's no way Night Dive and Star could have come to an agreement regarding that game a mere TWO WEEKS after System Shock 2 launched.
So, the classic Gem Promo is Psychonauts. Only get this version if you really, REALLY, want to experience the game as originally intended. Otherwise, grab it on Steam for enhanced controller support, achievements and a much easier final dungeon.

Bought despite owning it several times already. It's hard to resist when it's only the price of a can of beer, and I'm curious about the included artwork.

You can update the GOG version too with an unofficial patch. This updates the game to have all the Steam changes (including an easier Meat Circus), except for Steam Achievements of course.

The enhanced gamepad support is in another unofficial patch, which is available here. If you combine the two patches together, you'll get the full experience that you would get on Steam (minus Steam achievements).
It also works on the original retail version, if you still own that.
What happened, did GOG sign a new deal with 3D Realms or something? We've got another classic Apogee platformer in the way of Realms of Chaos for $5.99. Also, we've got new-school, old-school platformer Waking Mars for the launch price of $4.99.
Yee haw, pardners, y'all best be interested in today's Indie Gem Promo, it takes you all the way to Texas. Not that fake Texas, but The Real Texas, and for 60% off boy howdy.
And now that I've successfully enraged everyone from Texas with my poor cowboy imitation, I'd like to point out that Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone got an update. At least, that game did, I can't tell if anything else got updated.
Edit: Heh, GOG is trying to capitalize on the SimCity 5 DRM issues in an attempt to advertise SimCity 2000.
More semi old games for you today. You can get The Settlers 3: Ultimate Edition, which has all the expansions, for only $9.99. Also, check out the third person hack-n-slasher Blade of Darkness from Codemasters, for only $5.99.
This week once again makes me sigh and wonder "didn't we JUST have a strategy sale a few weeks ago?" with the Superb Strategy promo. Take 50% off Stronghold, Age of Wonders, King of Dragon Pass and more. Also, GOG is selling DLC now, with the first being "The Con Artist" for Omerta: City of Gangsters for $4.99. I really only bring this up because... well, this thing is getting one star bombed faster than SimCity, and they're taking it out on GOG.
Also, check out This Week on GOG for a recap and hint. Your hint is "restless souls, ooooooooh"
Have you heard the good word of Gary Coleman? Please donate $3.99 to the Gary's Our Guy (GOG) Classic Gem campaign, and you'll receive a copy of Postal 2 Complete.
Now that that's out of the way, some interesting sales data. Looks like GOG's gambit to move copies of SimCity 2000 actuall worked, as it's currently sitting in the number 4 sales spot, down from the top spot. Also, many city builders that were on sale this weekend are on the list, suggesting that the complete failure of SimCity's launch has been good to GOG. Also placing on the list is Planescape: Torment, probably to do with the massive success of the Kickstarter campaign for the not-sequel.

I am already a believer, but agree his word must be spread. Praise be to Coleman!
Today's update brings us yet another classic Apogee platformer (there's like... one a week now, what happened?) with Secret Agent for $5.99. Also, coming from the EA back catalog is Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds for $5.99.
Also, there's another "Pick 5" sale going on where you... well, pick 5 games, and you can save up to 80% on them.
Indie Gem Promo of the day is FTL for $3.99. I think it's safe to say that there's no excuse to not own this game at this price. Seriously. Go buy it. I'll wait.
Comments
Nope... I'm just too old for games that force me to two hour sessions.
Never finished it though. It did get a bit tedious after a while. Still good, mind.
I wouldn't call it "unpopular", if it's still within the top 40 best selling games on GOG.
I'd want more similar open world action adventures today. Third person has become far too unpopular IMHO.
I'm still convinced that this was supposed to be the Valentine's day game, but GOG and Night Dive managed to get everything ready to go earlier for System Shock 2.

Now, I just have to actually play the games.
Yes, immediately. They breathe old school adventure.

Reasons from yours truly right there.

Har har. There goes the partnership with EA.
But, whatevers. EA has bad press enough.

Yeah, I'm more partial to mascara-like games, myself.
