Your mind will be blown by how bad LSL:MCL is!

Today, GOG brings us Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, completely uncut and uncensored for only $5.99. Dear GOG. When I said I wanted more stuff from Sierra, THIS ISN'T WHAT I MEANT! Ugh...
    HA HAHAHAHA!

I've actually completed this game. 'twas not worth my (or indeed ANYONE'S) time and money.

Good thing they removed the GOOD from Good Old Games.

Good thing they removed the GOOD from Good Old Games.

They removed OLD too two years ago, so is it only Games now? Or maybe GOG could be interpreted as Generally OK Games.

Yeah, but the collector in me wants to complete the collection, and the guy who's been there for years in me knows that Codemasters probably still has the largest number of removed games on the service. Maybe next time it's on sale.

I'm like that myself, but I think it's fairly easy to disregard it as a part of any collection. Different developer, different protagonist, different genre, no Lowe and universally regarded as crap. There's absolutely no reason to buy those games.

Ehh, we'll see how I feel after the first sale. In other, happier, less 3D Leisure Suit Larry game news, REDKit has officially been released for anyone who owns The Witcher 2. Also, there appears to be a mystery update for FTL.

Edit: Ahh, and here's what it does. Long story short, lots of bugfixes, and a mildly reduced difficulty of the Crystal quest. Well... in that the Rock Homewords should always have the quest marker for it if you've completed all stages of the quest.

Alright, your Indie Gem Promo of the day is 99 Levels to Hell for $3.99... wait, didn't this come out a month or so ago? That's a little quick. Oh well, there's also a patch available for System Shock 2. If I can find a changelog, I'll try and point you in the right direction.

Edit: Not much it seems, it just updates NewDark to 2.42, and is not required if you're using the latest SS2tool.

Experience revengeance with today's... classic release? New release? I dunno, it's Raiden Legacy for the launch price of $8.99. Yeah, we're getting this because Chaos Overlords got delayed a week.

Edit: And after a false launch earlier this morning, we have Reus. It's some kind of giant monster god game, and it's only $8.99 for the next week.

This weekend gives us a lot of deals coming from Ubisoft. Everything from Ubisoft, except the recently released Anvil of Dawn but including the recently released Settlers 3, is on sale for 50% off. Still not a Sierra sale...

Here's This Week on GOG for your recap and clues-for-games-that-aren't-Chaos Overlord needs. Something about forging fantasy and science fiction.

Bah. All still too expensive for me to justify getting. Bleh.

Well, I'm proud of you for every single game you DON'T buy, but...

PoP 2008 for five bucks, I personally consider this quite a bargain.

Unfortunately, as I've heard, the bonus soundtrack isn't of that great an audio quality, because the soundtrack alone could have brought me to buy that game a second time.

And let's not even begin to talk about Beyond Good & Evil for 5$. That is worth SO much more - and was in fact the reason why I even registered with gog.com back in 2009, less than 24 hours after hyperventilating because Windows 7 wouldn't play my CD version (because of its... wait for it... copy protection incompatibility. Horrayyyy.).
  • edited May 2013
Scooped up might and magic 7, 8 and 9 (because I can't be arsed to get the CDs out), and PoP because Its the only one I haven't got yet.

Was tempted to get a PC copy of Farcry 1 and 2, but I remember 2 being very frustrating the damn guards respawned and chased you relentlessly so it became tiring hopping cars.

Today's Classic Gem Promo is the Gobliiins Pack for only $2.39.
  • edited May 2013
Anybody have an opinion on the Gobliiins games?
  • edited May 2013
I loved them when I played them back in the days and thought they were still very solid adventure games when I played them again a couple of years ago. The more recent fourth game is crap though, so stay well clear of it if you ever come across it.

Today, GOG brings us Unepic, an RPG where you play as a basement dwelling DnD nerd who gets summoned to a fantasy kingdom to save the world. It's like Galaxy Quest, but without the sci-fi setting... or Tim Allen. Oh well, can't win them all, Unepic has a launch price of $4.99.

Also, this is interesting. If it's not showing correctly for you, or you just don't get why it's interesting,
it's an ad for Wizardry 8 on GOG.

Huh, fourth wall break deluxe, eh? Nah, I'd rather wait for Card Hunter.

Today, GOG brings us the long requested, legendary RPG Wizardry 8 for only $9.99. Yes, this Japanese developer was a little more willing to share their stuff than a certain OTHER Japanese developer on GOG, and Wizardry 8 is now on GOG. But hey, maybe you don't want to start at the end of an epic RPG story. Well, it's a good thing that GOG ALSO has Wizardry 6+7, for $5.99. And yes, Wizadry 7 comes in regular and Wizardry Gold variations.

But... but what about the first 5?

Lost forever in the mists of time, never to be seen again. That, or 6 through 8 were the only ones that GOG got working right now. Or they do work, and the others will be made available in the coming months. But really, those form enough of a standalone trilogy that you don't need the first 5.
  • edited May 2013
    Well hello Wizardry.
I don't believe we have met yet.
    lets get aquainted... ;)

This weekend, GOG has a random mish-mash of FPS games on sale for 50% off. Get 50% off of stuff like Duke Nukem 3D, Chronicles of Riddick, Judge Dredd, Serious Sam, Unreal Tournament and Catacombs.

As usual, here's This Week on GOG for your recap/next game clue. The clue is... there really is no clue, ok? It's clearly Chaos Overlords, they confirmed as much when they said they had to delay Chaos Overlords a couple weeks. I hope they've got something incredibly awesome lined up as well to make up for this.
  • edited May 2013
What a random selection. If I didn't already own most of them (either on GOG or Steam) I suspect I'd be buying a lot more, but thankfully I do, so my wallet remains fairly intact.

...I own way too many games.
  • edited May 2013
    Ehh... whoops.

Anyway, today, GOG brings us their long, long, LONG delayed release of Chaos Overlords. This insane cyberpunk strategy game can finally be yours for $5.99.

For once, the white rabbit is early for a very important date. Specifically, the launch date for The Night of the Rabbit, which is now today! You can grab it on GOG for the standard $19.99, or pay double that for a version that actually includes the German language version, because this does not have the German version for some very complicated legal reasons you can probably read about earlier in this thread.

Today's Indie Gem Promo is The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles for $4.99.

The German version is not available from gog.com. We're not talking about, errr... other digital game vendors here. Those international pricing crappers.

And with today's update, we come to the end of releases for "Mind Blowing May". Today, we have Race Driver: GRID for the launch price $7.49. Get it while it's hot, it's a Codemasters racing game and those tend to vanish after time has passed. Also we have Expeditions: Conquistadors for the launch price of $17.99. Apparently this was a Kickstarter project or something.
  • edited May 2013
Mind Blowing May is going out with a bang. The long, long, long, long, LONG awaited (by me, at least) Adventures with Activision promo (which is a bit misleading since it's all on sale) with 50% off of some of Activision's best back catalogue. That's half off Zork, half off Krondor, half off Vampire: The Masquerade, half off a bunch of strategy games and, biggest of all, half off the Sierra adventures! Though it needs to be mentioned that Leisure Suit Larry is not included in this sale because Codemasters owns it now.

Gah, almost resisted until I saw Dark Reign. Dammit.

Hey, This Week on GOG is finally out. Check it for the recap and the game hint. This week, your hint is that the game is super secret, and you can only catch it's name in the wind in the willows.
  • edited May 2013
Everything I want still comes out to $32. I've spent too much on entertainment this month, I think I'll skip this sale.
  • edited June 2013
I hope you've still got money left after the Activision sale (I know I don't...), because it's time for the Classic Gem Promo. This week, it's Conquest: Frontier Wars for $2.39. Not my thing, but every deal brings us one deal closer to the one I'm waiting for now that the Activision sale has passed us. Soon, Bard's Tale. Soon...

Who's ready for an update? For those of who who have already finished the latest furry-venture, Night of the Rabbit, you can buy Inherit the Earth for only $5.99. This furry-venture comes to us from The Dreamers Guild, who you may remember as the guys who worked with Cyberdreams to make "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream". Also, Ubisoft brings us Rayman Origins for the launch price of $9.99. I've never played it, I've heard it's good, but I still have to say that if Ubisoft wants to get some good press going, maybe they should release something OTHER than an already DRM-free game on a DRM-free platform.
  • edited June 2013
Rayman Origins is amazing. If you don't own it on one of the hundred other platforms it's already been released on, get it now. It's 2D platforming at its finest.

It was quite fun for a while. But make sure you have a gamepad, and be prepared to face VERY hard challenges during the last third.

Today's Indie Gem Promo is Zafehouse: Diaries for $3.99. Also, it seems that the launch deal for Rayman Origins is slightly shorter than they usually are... specifically, price goes up to $19.99 TOMORROW. Thanks, Ubisoft...

Today, Square Enix brings us yet another game that isn't Final Fantasy VII with Project Eden. This squad-based third person shooter about... robots, I guess... will set you back $5.99. Also, there was an update for Primordia. No bugfixes, sadly, but it does include a new short story set in the Primordia universe.
