we just went threw this last month the end of July because they said one a month! ... but what i will say is don't make promises you cant keep! i think they need to lay off the pot and do a little more programming!
A man after my own heart. Lay off the damn pot indeed! LOL
I've been a fan of Telltale for years and years, played alot of their games, but think after the walking dead our relationship will be finished at least for a while i need a break from the fiasco they made of information/releasing Walking Dead. Shame ...Real shame....great game ....poor company!
Not to be a whiny bitch but, WHERE IS EPISODE 3? Enough already and release it.
It wont be out before at least middle of august from what I have heard.
My bet is that it will arrive around end of august due to ps3/xbox certification process.
I haven't been there for many releases, but didn't they not keep it for Jurassic Park and Back to the Future? I hate waiting as much as the next guy, but there's precedent for saying "You saw this coming."
Please tell me how it was 'kinda obvious' because at the start I suspected nothing and they got me for a season pass on a once a month promise.
There was no promise. I'm sick of hearing that. It said very clearly episodes "Planned to be released monthly." PLANNED! Not "I solemly swear these episodes will be out one month apart. So stop whining that they broke a promise that was never made. Shit happens, get over it. And yes it was quite obvious they wouldn't make it out one month apart.
All the inspections and tests microsoft and sony run through on games they release onto their consoles take a couple of weeks at best usually so if those take two weeks of the one month telltale would be left with a week or two to actually make the episode and that seems a bit too short doesn't it?
This is my first telltale game. I bought it cause i love the walking dead and could handle the monthly releases. Since they have not lived up to thier plan on monthly releases, i will not be buying anything else from telltale games again. I plan on buying the episodes as they come out to finish the game, but that is it. If they had told us in the begining that there would delays on every episode, i would of waited till it was completed before buying it. Every other game i have preordered can give a hard date on release, not sure why these people can't. They should of not released in april, if the game wasn't more completed. When they orginally first episode 1, episode 2 should of been done, and 3 almost done. That is the logical way of things.

tell me where it has ever "very clearly" said "planned"
I've never seen that word in the same sentence as "monthly" when referring to this game. A few pages back I even posted a snapshot where (very clearly) it says on telltale's website "A game of 5 monthly episodes". They have since silently edited it to say only "A game of 5 episodes"
The steam store I believe said "Remaining episodes will be released monthly" and it has been silently edited to say "Remaining episodes will be released periodically"
They did make promises. They did break them. They did cover it up. They never apologized.
We can move on from this, but don't say it never happened.

I seriously hope you don't think they make entire episodes during the release gap.

Atleast when I looked at the walking dead page in steam it said "Episodes planned to be released monthly." Or atleast that is what I remember seeing there, maybe my eyes and my memory have deceived me.
Oh and obviously I don't think they make the entire episode during the release gap, but they still have to do a significant amount.
@bghjkl, Caveat Emptor. If you don't like these "broken promises", then put your money where your mouth is and get a refund. It will be the simplest and most effective way to show the company you mean business.

Refund for what? They're still making the game and I'm still getting what I paid for. I've said that it's no problem to move on from what's happened, and that's what I'm doing: Moving on.
It would be nice, however, to get an apology and for them to get serious about their PR. The "message from telltale" in their blog was a kick in the face.
Anyway I bought from Steam, and from what I've heard, getting a refund from TTG isn't happening and from Steam is literally impossible. The only option to recoup my money would be to do a chargeback and Steam will suspend your account if you do a credit card chargeback and take ALL your games.

Get serious about their PR? This company gave everyone who paid for Jurassic Park free copies and, when episode one of Walking Dead was delayed, gave everyone a free Steam copy. Just because you didn't make out on their efforts doesn't negate their incredibly fair nature.
Anyone can whine all you want about their release dates or production value, but anyone thinks they're an impersonal company who doesn't make great efforts to appease their consumers, they can go

The Steam keys were because of server errors, not because of delays.

oops
yourself.
PR is Public relations. How you relate to the public. Lets take a look at how their team handled the episode 2 debacle.
-Forces PC users to pay upfront for "5 monthly episodes"
-1 month after Episode 1, no word from TellTale
-Late May they sneak something into a blog post "Coming in June"
-First week of June, everyone is in an uproar. Telltale says NOTHING
-June 6, at E3 Telltale says NOTHING about there even BEING a delay. Just "We're hoping for late June, we submitted to Sony and MS"
-Mid June, Still an uproar "Where is EP.2 Where is EP.2" Silence ensues from TTG
-3 days before release, they reveal XBOX gets the game first, even though the PC build had been ready to release for weeks. They refuse to say why. IMO The only explanation that makes sense is a cash deal from MS giving them the game first
-After episode 2, they release a "Message" that says "Thanks for Waiting (like we had a choice), We'll try to keep you on top of Episode 3. (they haven't said a thing yet) It might be ready in mid-August" (ready to release? ready for submission? what do you mean ready? Too bad they won't tell us) In this message they don't apologize and they don't admit fault.
-No further updates throughout July. Silence returns and ensues. August approaches.
Now during this ENTIRE shitstorm, what was TTG's PR team doing? Of course, posting about the game's rave reviews, continuing to advertise "omg episode 2 is so great you guys will love it" when it was in everyones mind that that judgement could be made independently if we could only play it. Emails were met either with no answer (my case) or a cookie cutter response. (something along the lines of "We at TTG are trying our best please be patient") I think it is evident that they actually read very few of the customer pleas. Additionally, the "monthly" bits were silently edited out of game descriptions. Never a "Hey I know we said monthly but it's going to be longer", they just pretend they never said montly.
To continue on their PR's rampage of tyranny, check out their marketing
Remember this screen?
Now I am 100% certain that there is only one story direction. No "tailoring" at all. False advertising IMO.
Furthermore, check out the questions thread. There is quite a lot going on in there. A lot of good questions that actually require answers. There hasn't been a red name in that thread since they dodged all the episode 2 questions to instead answer "what's ur fav zombie movie". And Jake says he reads that thread and this forum "every day for six years"
Now with all that said, I'm not trying to badmouth TTG as a company as much as it sounds like I am. I like their adventure games. Great games to play. Their developers/programmers/artists/writers/etc are among the best in the business. The corporate side of their company could use an overhaul.
TL;DR They have a lot to say but they aren't talking. That's bad PR.
Edit: I guess all I did was whine about release dates and production values, but the central themee is communication, and it all qualifies as bad PR.
I don't think we're going to see Episode 3 for the PC/XBOX/PS3 any time soon. I would not be surprised if it ends up being. September release. It looks like TellTale is now developing their iOS game on the same timeline as the PC release. That's going to slow the episode releases a bunch. I believe before they waited until the came was completly finished to create the iOS version of it.
Take a look at my other thread. I had a theory last month that TellTale would scrap their monthly PC release and develop the iOS game along the same time line. Since everyone on the PC/XBOX/PS3 bought a season pass up front it does not make TellTale anymore money pushing quick releases. Instead if they develop the iOS game at the same time TellTale can take advantage of hype revenue PC game. Making TellTale more money and allowing them to move on to the next project faster after TWD game since they will not have to remake it for the iOS in the end.
Episode 3 will be out in August. I'd put money on it.
Bet money on it. I think it will be September or at the soonest sometime after the 25th of Aug.
Based on the company size I just can't see them releasing the PC episodes as quick as they did in the past.
Below is a direct quote from a article on the TellTale Inc company.
"In 2010, the company’s revenues totaled $10 million, increasing nearly 90 percent over the previous year. This year, revenues are expected to grow at the same pace, and the studio is expected to jump to 140 employees from 90. So far, it’s raised $6 million, and more is expected to close any day."
Before they were waiting to the end of a game to make the iOS deployment, each PC episode was released Monthly.
If they are using their best PC programmers to now make a monthly iOS deployment of each episode instead of waiting to the end then, I think the new PC deployment schedule is going to be 60 to 90 days.
It'll be a small team handling the iOS port. A few programmers, maybe an art person or two (to handle any file conversion that would be needed for textures and the like, but they may have tools made to do this sort of thing automatically). Any port is typically done by a smaller team simply because there is literally less to do and what there is to do is mainly technical.
It will in no way affect the main PC/Mac/console release schedule.
If they are using their best PC programmers to now make a monthly iOS deployment of each episode instead of waiting to the end then, I think the new PC deployment schedule is going to be 60 to 90 days.
And this bit just makes no sense. Why would they use their best PC programmers to make the iOS port? They would in fact use their iOS programmers because they know how to do the port far better than a PC only programmer.
this has little to nothing to do with the content of your posts save for your signatures, one the dark tower series is amazing, whether your reading it again or just for the first time enjoy. second the douglas adam quote.... just great man
First of all, I must say I'm a great fan of the game. I've played many adventure games in the past (Lucasfilm ones), but recently not many until I discovered this.
It's f***ing awesome, really. Better than the tv show.
Now about the release date I bet 29th August... and even if I'm impatient to play it, being a small indie developer myself, I know that is really hard to release a new game so I prefer to wait a few weeks more but play a bug-free game
You guys, we are running in circles with this arguing. I've already gotten dizzy and fallen over. We all know telltale said stuff. We all know TellTale did not stick to what was advertised. WE KNOW THAT. THEY KNOW YOU ARE ANGRY. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO BE ANGRY. WE ALL KNOW THAT ALREADY. I thought we were done with this, guys.
Also, I didn't even know anyone had guessed the date right for EP2. Nice.
only just signed on to this forum, and only to keep track of walking dead, and want to say I am happy so far with this game despit setbacks in release dates and dont get ppl who complain played jurassic park and back to the future and live with the delays there too despite preordering but in the end got the games I was waiting for so whats the rush and the anger guys just wait and the game will will be great it s the finished product that count not the time till its done
Communication doesn't mean that they're tweeting "it looks like we're going to actually make it" every day. My statistics say the quieter TTG is, the MORE likely it is that they keep a previously announced time frame.
What exactly do you mean by "silence"?? They said mid-August and mid-August isn't here yet. Why should they have to say anything right now?
Confidence in the release might lead to some screen shots, a "your gonna love this" kinda mentality. Silence leans more towards the fingers crossed stress out attitude.
like when they were two months late with episode 2?
I'm just saying you're making it too easy for Telltale to regain your trust. If you're already getting nervous right now, two full weeks before mid-August, you'd be far too flabberghastedly relieved when they actually release mid month.
I suppose, that mid august is still the most exact date we have..? Still it would be kinda nice to know, when they submit the game to Microsoft and Sony, cause it is a sign, that our wait is almost over:)
So can anybody tell me, what this whole PAX thing is about? The timeline looks kinda like it will be a little before ep 4.
i dont care if they said mid-august, im checking PSN every day no matter what. Wouldnt that be a nice surprise, if it came out TONIGHT? or THIS WKND? i'd wet my panties.

FINALLY
(Maybe in september when everyone is back from there vacation. Troll troll)
I don't expect miracles at this moment.
Hopefully. Does anyone know if TTG passed the game onto Sony or Microsoft yet for approval. If so then it should be here soon.
kinda concerned about the current silence by the telltale team, that was one of the precursors for the last delay. *puts on tin foil hat*
