I don't know if it actually was longer, but it did seem that way to me as well. To some degree it was longer for me, but that was because I kept dying at the motel/camper scene where you had to shoot all of those walkers. The target thingy seemed a little wonky to me & it was hard to get a good, quick shot off.

I know right? It was very sensitive shooting and you had to be very steady with the remote, but it was fine once you got used to it. And yeah I died numerous times when the motor inn was getting invaded. Also when the walker came at you. I'm happy you could use your gun more. It was fun plowing the walkers in the face.

Wow. In mine she was going to shoot Ben, but Doug went to push Ben outta the way & ended up being the one to take the bullet.

Dang... I was kind of pissed that Ben didn't tell the truth. If he had things would have gone much different.

He didn't admit the truth, at that point, in my game either. Lilly just thought it was him and was going to kill him for it. He didn't admit the truth until much later, once everyone was dead (Doug, Kat & Duck) and the train was moving.

I didn't really like Duck and would rather have him killed off... but TellTale really has a way to changed your mind about things. I felt so bad for the kid, The reaction from Kat and Kenny was just so sad... Why would Kat kill her self and let Kenny live on? Seriously, Kat didn't lose everything, kind of selfish to kill herself and let Kenny suffer on alone. Kat was really one of my favorite characters... so was Carly. Jeese this episode was just heartbreaking. Good job Telltale.

Yup, and that's what pissed me off. Ben could of saved someone elses life that deserved it if he told the truth. So Lilly doesn't accuse Doug and Ben being a bandit? Just Ben? I wonder if there is way to save Kat, I really liked her... I mean maybe you can take Duck to the woods to do the bussiness? Or maybe tell someone else to kill Duck.

Well, Kat even has that conversation with Kenny, that he knows she loves him very much, but that Duck is her world..or something to that extent. I totally get it. I expected it to happen once he was bitten. She loves Kenny, but not as much as she loves her son and his impending death destroys her. And she knows she would be no good to Kenny after Duck dies. It wasn't selfish of her. I think that she actually put a lot of thought in it.

So much death, I thought for sure we could save carley, thats not cool, really fun I don't like how we get down to 5 ppl left tho.. I thought I could save the girl down the street so I was trying to shoot the walkers but I guess you can only shoot her?

Hmm. I guess you are right. Kat did say some stuff hinting her suicide. But still, that's her husband. She should have stayed, I really liked her, she had a good affect on Clementine and would be helpful during such situations.

I noticed something at almost the end of episode 3. I think Kenny or Lee says "I would do anything to go back to the motor inn" as in going back in time to change decisions. Maybe this hints if you do something differently in the beginning it changed dramatically? Also at the end with the guy on the radio, is he lying about Clem's parents? I can't wait for episode 4

Hi guys, new poster here, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game so far, this episode especially.

Here are some of my thoughts:

I must say going through my "Nice Guy Lee" walkthrough, It was nice to see that the writers continued to push us to evolve Lee as a character. Which from my perspective, pushed us out of that fence-sitter role we had in the first 2 episodes, and into a strong leadership role in the 3rd.

I believe the characters deaths were done right, and really helped convey the message to me of survival being my only priority.

As an extension of the survival focus, Chuck has become my favorite character, next to Lee & Clem. He's probably the ideal group member, no nonsense and straight to the point, his focus on survival provides the necessary catalyst for Lee's evolution as a character IMO.

I like the fact now that i'm changing my train of thought with this game from building relationships with characters; to assessing their worth in the long run to Lee and Clem's survival.

All in all, I must say again I'm enjoying the experience of emotionally investing myself in this game, which is something that I haven't really done in a few years with a game.

Welcome! I'm fairly new here too. I agree with all of your points, but maybe Chuck is Terry St. John? The Father from the St Johns farm? It says it might be on a wiki, also there's a family photo that dissapears. I did some research and they are both 40-50. But it might not be true since Chuck has white hair and Terry has brown as it says in his description. In my first playthrough I did what I think was right if that was me. I wouldn't call it a 'nice honest Lee playthough' I would call it 'My Playthrough'. Than others will explore the other choices.

I think the worse death that took a toll on me is Kat. She's was one of my favorite characters, along with Carly.

Guys is this game actually canon? I am looking on the Walking Dead Wikipedia and it says things like (the links have spoilers to the comics):

"Her (Lilly's) father, Everett Ray Caul cared deeply for her, and sacrificed himself to protect Lilly."

"After the apocalypse broke out, Lilly and Everett stood together for a short while. When they were attacked by a smaller herd, Everett saved Lilly by locking her into a bus."

"Everett saved Lilly by locking her into a bus, causing himself to be devoured."

"In the Video Game by Telltale, Lilly's dad is named Larry."

    http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Lilly_Caul_(Comic_Series)
    http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Everett_Ray_Caul
    http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/The_Walking_Dead:_The_Road_To_Woodbury

I think all this comes from the Walking Dead book, The Road to Woodbury that is coming out later, but it looks like this is gonna conflict with The Walking Dead Video Game. If this is true that is really kind of annoying. A few references to the video game in the book would have been good, but it looks like they are completely ignoring it. I really liked the idea of this game being canon to the comics and it's kind of disappointing if there not.

Edit: Really enjoyed this episode, forgot to mention that.

I think there are some references to the comics and characters that appear in the comics. I haven't read the comics yet which is good, because after all The Walking Dead Episode has come out, it will influence how the comics.

Also, with Katja and Duck now dead, how stable is Kenny really? Do you guys think he might try to take his own life?
  • edited August 2012
If you keep Lilly when you guys leave the RV then you return to get the pencil for the direction she frees herself after being tied up then pushes Lee out of the RV and takes it so either way she leaves the group. I just wonder if she meets back up with anyone in the last 2 episodes?

I don't think so, but I do believe she appears in the comics, and her past is her time with the rest of the survivors.

All I can say is amazing job TellTale Games. This is honestly one of the best games I've had the pleasure to play.

I don't know, I really think if he was going to do that, he would have done it immediately. Though, I do think he's falling apart, which might lead him to make a fatal mistake. Playing as Lee, I'm not sure I'll be following along with any more of Kenny's ideas considering how the deaths of his wife and son are affecting him.

Well, now with Lilly out of the way and Kenny unstable (due to his family's death)
The spot of leadership has just opened up >:D

I do think the newcomer, Christa, has the right idea. She said they stick to themselves and it's easier for them to survive, not only against the walkers, but against the living as well. I think that's sound advice and that traveling or staying with a large group (like they had at the motel) will end up getting Lee and Clem killed.

Ugh this episode almost had me crying & I got nervous a couple of times (trying to make choices & shooting zombies). I'm glad Kenny was cool with Lee's background & Clem understood. Told Kat but went back & undid that because she wanted to know what happened with Larry.. So pissed at Lilly, left her 1st time & she ran off, 2nd time she stole the RV! I don't trust Chuck & so sad about Kat & Duck. Christa doesn't like me & Omid is cool! The guy on the walkie sounds like a pedo :( Does Lilly shoot Doug if you chose him instead? I have a feeling Clem will cause trouble next episode (in wanting to find parents & waiting for a boat)

Is anyone else going to kill Ben/leave him to die in future episodes(if optional)?

Yeah... why do I have a feeling there will be a major choice whether helping find Clems parents or getting on the boat.

I might leave him to die depending on how he acts. I'm really mad at him because he caused a death for lying so we'll see how that goes.

Ben's reasoning for doing it in the first place was not to help the group, but rather to help himself get his friend back. His motives weren't in the right place. He even said, once he realized they were lying about his friend he couldn't stop because they'd attack the Motel. Was that a good enough motive to continue giving the bandits the meds? Maybe. But I tend to think it was more out of self preservation rather than saving the entire group.

I personally think he's just a naive kid. Scared- and naive. He could have told the group about the bandits much earlier, and perhaps the same chain of events would have occurred, or perhaps the Motel group could have collectively formed a plan to take out the bandits. Either way, the Motel was NOT protected. I personally think they should have moved to a more secure location much sooner than they did.

I don't think I would just outright kill him for revenge. It's beyond that for me now. However, I would kill or leave anyone that jeopardizes Clems or my own safety.

I think that will probably be a guarantee. She's an 8 year old girl and all she wants is her parents. If Lee doesn't help her, I have a feeling she'll run off on her own or try to get the man on the walkie talkie to help her. (Or both)

If it ever does come down to that, I'm going to help Clementine. I just have a soft spot for her.

I'm sure I will too even though I think it's beyond hope of finding them alive (especially considering the messages the mom left on the answering machine).

I'm also not even sure the boat is a good idea. At least on land they have a chance for fresh water & stuff like that. Get on a boat, then what? Seems more hopeless than staying and trying to find a "secure" place.

I wished they'd given an option for that. Really. The game could've had so much more potential!! Two completely different stories running into a second season! C'mon Telltale, that was beyond disappointing!
IT WAS DEPRESSING! (Damnnit they warned us!)

I like how he says to Clem about how his mother was also "small"...did he like Carley because her height reminded him of his mother? LOL! Best chat-up/comeback line ever! XD

Also, I never disliked Duck. In fact, when he and Lee went Batman & Robin and high-fived with the 'Duck thinks you are incredibly awesome' I just LMAO at how cool he was!!
    Then he got bit.....................................................

At the end of the episode though (and I start it this way on purpose, so anyone reading who hasn't finished the episode yet, STOP READING NOW)... I have a few questions.

    1) Is it possible to not break Omid's leg? Like, for example, can you push him earlier and that doesn't happen?
    2) If you save him before christa, does HE get pissed instead or..?
    3) Did I push the blowtorch off too early or something? Why didn't it make the tank explode? I was SO disappointed.
    4) Is it possible to NOT take Christa/Omid? Cause I gotta tell you, Omid's first response to Clementine being OMG A KID I'VE NEVER SEEN A KID IN SO LONG HOLY DAMN IT'S A KID _really_ weirded me out. Christa immediately following it up with "You do that. I'm going to talk to the girl" didn't help.

Lilly leaving even if you decide to let her stay and Carley dying no matter what you try to do really disappointed me. With a game so big on choice and it affects the story, My choices didn't matter at all really. This Chapter was nice and all, but with the lack of choices actually factoring in the outcome of your story really is a disappointment.

Mannnnn this episode was MONEEEY !!!!!!!:D
was heart hitting stuff since the beginning like the girl(which i let get eaten), and the motel attack when i feel like someone on COD quickscopping dudes left right and center and the END was kinda less of a cliffhanger than the others two imo.... But besides that, the killing duck and katjaa suiciding was harsh, and the dream about zombie Clementine man scared the living hell out of me !!!!
Well Doone TTG, you delay but you deliver !!!!

I thought it was a good cliffhanger. Think about it Clementine has been talking to stranger lying to her about having her parents. This guy must have a lot of information if he knows about Clementine parents. (or maybe he's just lying). What is this guys intentions? What is he trying to achieve, this guy can be 'anyone'. Think about it more. The cliffhanger creeped me out to hell, and I wonder what's going to happen. This is probably one of the best cliffhangers because it shows what evil lurks in the future.

In episode two the Jolene cliffhanger was good but didn't really reflect into the 3rd episode, beside the bandit taking over the Motor Inn. In episode one it wasn't anything special, just Lilly saying 'everything is going to be alright'. Then the lights going out. I played really late at night, so everything was a lot more creepier and dramatic for me.

I was wondering. Have anyone else noticed, that lily is on the train on the poster for the episode? Just when you chose to play it... Are there any way you can keep lily around?
  • edited August 2012
I created an account just to post here.

i HATED Episode 3. Although it was long, and content packed, i feel like all the killings were un-needed. One thing i found stupid was where Carly/Doug died. If lilly was freaking out, and suspected Ben (i talked her out of suspecting Carly) Would she NOT of killed Ben? Or me if i were to of said I did it? I then chose to bring Lilly along with us. Now, lets say this happened in real life. I'm sure people would of had a guard on her. And brought her outside, tie her hands to the train, or a tree, or something. The rest seemed ok, but one thing that bothered me, just because of the annoyance, was in the train, there is not a single wind effect. Their legs do not swing, their pants do not ripple, the old man's hair is not blown back, that bothered me... Alot...

And finally, why did lee hate Duck so much? Sure, he's stupid, and is better off dead, but i fed him, and was nice to him, but come Episode 3, Lee just hated him... No reason... just, hated him.

Now, for things i liked, i enjoyed the action, it was, in my opinion, just the right amount. If there was much more i would of felt over whelmed. I also enjoyed how long it was, as stated above, it was, for me, around 3 hours to beat, some of that time was looking up to see if i could of saved Carly... Although i hope lilly comes back at some point, at least, for those who saved her. But, in conclusion, i wish Ben was shot...

This episode was depressing. That's all I can really say. I feel like no matter how good I am, or how happy I try to make everyone, it's always Lee's fault. I just want to take Clementine and go off on my own.

Also, dat camera glitch. I haven't been able to finish because my camera is getting stuck outside the train after I talk to Ben.
