I'm loving the way that Telltale is really experimenting with the different choices you can make in the game. The end of Episode 2 with the car looting was an excellent moral question, and it was continued here. It's not just about who lives and dies. It's about whether you can give second chances. Whether you can just leave someone to the fate of the walkers and turn your back on them. whether you are in rage when the people you love die. whether you can give compassion to a friend even if it means danger. when clem was a "zombie", it really made me think of what i'd do if she died. choosing whether or not to confess my past to people is a great way to get you thinking about what you are like as a person. playing this game used to mean kissing everyone's ass in order to be on good terms with everyone but now i had to start taking sides for real. "puzzles" were better this time around but still were minimal. in terms of excitement, there were highs and lows. carley getting shot (at least in my save) was surprising but i was personally hoping for more of an arc with the bandits. i thought maybe that could develop into the overarching story. overall i'd rank the episodes like so: 2, 3, 1

i dont want to say much because im still in shocked after completeing the episode. there are lots of twists and turns. when they say Choices matter in Ep. 3, they mean CHOICE MATTERS!!

Wow, one of the most intense gaming experiences I've ever had. Really good stuff, fighting Kenny was awesome. The whole thing, I just felt in control for the most part, as far as choosing what I want to do. The only thing I can really complain about is the sniping, holy shit that was bad. It was fun, but the sensitivity seemed weird. Overall though, I enjoyed it more than episode 2, just my opinion.

That was an intense episode. I did end up having some glitchy experiences, but in the end it was worth it!

    Can't wait for more!

Great episode indeed, so many twist, i simply did not expect Lilly to shoot Carly or Kat shooting herself instead of killing duck. I guess when Telltale said that no one was they really meant it.

Finding out that Clem's radio works and that she been in contact with someone was also a shock.

All in all great great work but the problem now is that i want to play EP4 right now argh!

    Zombie Clem was terrifying.
And they killed off Carly/Doug, so that was more of an illusion of choice rather than actually meaning something :\

I am in COMPLETE shock after finishing the episode! Honestly, it was definitely the BEST episode. I enjoyed it, even though it was SHOCKINGLY disturbing. Lilly killed Carly, and got kicked out of the group (I wonder what happens if they keep her?) I knew Duck was going to die, but I had NO idea Katjaa would commit suicide! Episode 4 looks so interesting. I wonder who that man is. I am in SHOCK.

Still a little in shock at what happened to Carly, I knew it was in he future, but I didn't expect it to happen like that. Also, an amazing fist pump moment when Lilly spilled the beans and Kenny didn't care. (Thanks to me telling him and the others before hand.)

I like Chuck. A little blunt, but nice enough, survival minded, and plays guitar.

I actually managed to talk Kenny down. It was honestly one of the saddest moments I've seen in a video game. All my hate for the guy is gone. The fact that he still felt guilty about what happened at the Greene farm and that this was cosmic judgement really struck me as powerful.

    Katjaa...damn, just damn.

I was really really afraid that Clementine might be the one who has to shoot Duck for a while. Damn it Telltale, I'm supposed to be giggling under my breath at getting the opportunity to shoot Duck, not actually feeling horrible for putting a bullet in the brain of a little boy.

No real opinion on the two newcomers. Grabbed the wounded guy first, bum leg and he was helpfully amusing. Glad the woman made it, but I'm getting a 'Lilly-lite' feeling off of her. We'll have to see how they shape up in a few months.

The cliffhanger caused my jaw to drop. Who is Orange Text?! He knows about Lee? Please please please answer these questions before Thanksgiving...if it's before Halloween I'll be even happier.

There were a few glitches, I fell through the ground walking along the train to give Clem her lesson and haircut, but either going to the pause screen or quitting and restarting fixed them both.

So we can't prevent Carley's death ? At all ?
  • edited August 2012
So we can't save carley, and the same thing happens to Doug? And Lilly leaves no matter what choice you pick? Katjaa and duck always die? Sounds a lot like illusion of choice to me. Still good though, just not as good.

No doesn't seem like you can save her.

No doesn't like you can save her.

    @#$%^&; Q_Q My Carleyyyyyyyyyyy
  • edited August 2012
Is it true Lilly leaves even if you want her to come with you?
  • edited August 2012
Wait, shouldn't illusion of choice mean that you can choose sacrifice someone else ? Or ATLEAST GET HURT TRYING TO SAVE CARLEY ?
  • edited August 2012
The guy Clem has been talking to sounds like a real creeper. Somehow, I think he isn't interested in being her friend. Totally did not expect for Lilly to shoot Carley, but I did figure Ben had been the one causing problems. Wonder if he can be shot rather than Carley. Probably not. Um, I was able to talk Kenny down, and I feel for the guy. Duck won me over this episode, which made his death harder to deal with. Kat, man, I didnt see that one coming. I kind of like the hobo, though I don't fully trust him. If you don't save Omid first, does he just die?

Christa saves him, and is displeased that you were going to leave an injured guy behind.

Is it possible for us to choose who Lilly gets to kill :/ ?

Thanks a ton! Was going to give it whirl next playthrough. I've already angered her enough though! xD

Wait, if you choose to bring Lilly with you, why does she leave?
Can someone expand on this? Thanks :D

Most likely because the rest of the group wants nothing to do with her anymore. if you talk to them after, all of them say they would have left Lilly behind.
  • edited August 2012
During the Lilly scene as soon as she put her hand behind her back I thought we could stop her by clicking on her in time, but we don't get the option and she just blows Carly/Doug's brains out.
  • edited August 2012
that kinda pissed me off. I kinda wanted to kill lilly & ben after that. I was hoping 4 more character moments with carley. it should've been ben... i didn't care much for him at 1st but then he put the group in danger, lied bout it & carley paid the price
  • edited August 2012
I'm wondering, how did Lilly even get her hands on a gun ?
Let alone, can we actually accuse Ben so Lilly changes her mind ?

So anyone else think Chuck is Terry St. John? Just me?

    Thought he died?
  • edited August 2012
I don't think anyone said he died, just that he was gone. The picture of Terry in the St. John's house looks like Chuck, he said he had a family 14 years ago... and the photo of the family with two boys is just gone from the train engine after Chuck shows up.

This was easily the best episode of the game. it kept me waiting to see what would happen. hats off to you, Telltale.
    My choices:
Let that one chick die, as ashamed as i am to say it.
The only one i told about prison was Kenny, but somehow Lilly knew, probably from Larry. And Carley knew.
Speaking of Lilly, I left that bitch behind. C u in woodbury. Thats what you get, whore.
I managed to talk Kenny down instead of fighting him, i dont hate the guy.
I shot Duck, as much as i dont like it.
I saved Omid first, and i dont know what would have happened if i saved Christa first.
I DONT TRUST THE OLD GUY.
I KNEW BEN WAS THE TRAITOR FROM THE GET GO.
WHY THE HELL DID CARLEY HAVE TO DIE?!
The group is so small now...
    WHO IS THE ORANGE GUY?

OH and Chuck looks just like Danny.

You tie her up and leave Ben with a gun on her. After you find the train, when you go to get the pencil from the RV, she somehow frees herself, knocks you out of the RV and drives off.

This episode was great Telltale good job! Had to say had a lot of fun playing detective with Duck too bad he had to die. And @Viner16 Jessabeth is right the group doesn't want anything to do with Lilly so she frees herself from her bonds and makes off with the RV in my playthrough after trying to get me to run away with her but I denied. If you leave Lilly on the streets I wanted to know what happens to the RV, do you just leave it to see if the train is working?
  • edited August 2012
Yes he was annoying but it was so sad when he died

    Sigghhh...

I know you didn't mean to, but please don't make a thread title saying the exact nature of the spoiler. Not that it matters now. Thanks to SOMEONE, I've already been fucked in that department.

(Spoiler: That someone has "refill" in their name.)

To everybody complaining about "illusion of choice," you really have no grounds for doing so. This game isn't meant to be played with an endgame in mind (not unlike Mass Effect 3). The journey is important. Episode 1 establishes the characters, Episode 2 makes you make the tough decisions, and Episode 3 sends you in on a whirlwind of FUBAR. You can't expect to be in control of everything all the time. People will die and that's something you can't control a lot of the time, even if you're the main character. That's something Episode 3 was showing us. What lasts now is the impressions your decisions make on the group, including yourself. I think everyone will end up dead (besides hopefully Clementine) by Episode 5 anyways, so will every decision you make with the dead people matter in the end? Just like in life, what counts is what you make of what time and opportunity you have with others, even if it doesn't last. Of course, if Clementine IS the sole survivor, then pretty much everything Lee has done throughout the game will resonate with her. That's the ending you should be thinking of.

Yeah that's true I guess. I hope lee doesn't die in the end though.

wow im not feeling the outcome for carly/doug i think telltale has to switch it up some it be better if lets say carly rolled out with lilly.

Chuck: i like the new guy he stright to the point and real

Christa: She pretty much a lilly replacement

    Omid: Reminds me of Mark

Kenny: Shall be a lose cannon more than ever

Clem: Learning how to handle a glock it could be good or bad but i think its good she can protect herself

Lee: Just needs to be more blount and tell the truth if you handle him that way.

My feelings towards the end of the episode were that it wasn't as good as the others, but when I poked around to figure out why I felt that way, I realized it was just because it was so depressing! I really got to feel for our little band of survivors, and it was painful to see it falling apart. I was especially shocked by Katjaa's actions; as understandable as it was that she would want to kill herself under the circumstances, how could she leave Kenny to go on all alone? And losing Carley hurt, especially with the growing feelings between her and Lee.

Once again, they prove they really know what they're doing with the zombie scares; the Clembie was terrifying! It only took me a couple of seconds to figure out it must be a dream, but for those two seconds I was freaking out!

    Miscellaneous stuff:

-Did anyone else notice the canister of Banang?
-I loved the massive crowd of walkers. O HAI GUYZ, looks like we just aggroed every mob in the zone...
-But I was a little disappointed that the tanker truck didn't end up exploding and taking them out. To quote Marvin the Martian, "Where's the kaboom?"
