Sure, you can go back to beating that dead horse. But I think fans of the show and Activision game are the real unwanted element in the Walking Dead fandom.
As a fan of the show and a possible purchaser of the Activision game, I think the old fuddy duddy fans of TTG company games like Sam and Max are the real unwanted element in the Walking Dead fandom.
Seems like it is your problem, as you clearly don't see what I am doing here.
All I've done is change the words to mean the opposite. But I guess the "elitist" TTG fans that are superior to fans of Activision don't see the offensive nature of their words. Not surprising.

This has nothing to do with comparing the TTG fans to the TWD fans. I'm purely talking about the fans of the show and game against the fans of the comic. When it comes to me as a Telltale fan versus me as a Walking Dead fan, it's the fan of the comic that thinks the show fans shit up the fanbase the most. Sam and Max doesn't even come to mind when I think there's an entire demographic out there that thinks the show is watchable.

You lost me there.
Personally for me comic > TTG TWD > the show but I am a fan of all 3 for sure.
Vainamoinen,
I do assume you would have no problem if someone started a thread titled "TTG original fanbase is shitting up TWD community"?
I have no intention and would not start that thread, just curious if there is a double standard.
In the pre-walking dead days, on the few post were people actually responded, there was plenty of shit talking. It's never been nice. The community has always been bad. I saw one post with an employee pleading for peace on a Jurassic Park blog post.
Go back to any blog post before walking dead and I promise plenty, if not most, people are talking big shit.
When I first saw the thread title, I felt that the "shitting up" part was offensive to some degree, and I DID let it slide. Would I censor a thread which turned the idea around just because I thought that there is less grounds for the claim?
...no. I WOULD consider doing this because such a thread would be a mockery of THIS thread though.
What my posts continually tried to do is to make clear that those "two sides" do not really exist. A small number of people offend a large number of others, TWD and other Telltale game fans alike. Panda has argued in this direction by comparing present blog post comments with those at the time of Back to the Future. But parts of "the old community" neither liked Back to the Future nor Jurassic Park, so we'll have to redefine that nebulous core of yesterday's Telltale fans yet again. It's tedious, and it leads nowhere. Maybe you're an old school Telltale fan just by declaring yourself one.
For what it's worth, in the strictest and most exclusive definition, you haven't SEEN the "old community" yet. You've experienced like four or five; and those were the ones who like and play The Walking Dead game.
Maybe the TWD fan base is, in principle, shitting up themselves.
Nope I am one of the new fans shitting up the community because I watch the Walking Dead tv show and might buy the activision game and TWD was my first Telltale game.
Wait...
I mean I am one of the GOOD new fans that makes this community the best not some old fuddy duddy Sam & Max player telling TWD fans to get off my lawn!
I just asked a question. Seriously not clear on what necessitated this response. I don't see the reason for a divide in fanbases and really think everyone is making way too big a deal of this, but if you're inclined to create two separates fanbases for one game, you're certainly not making a strong case that "your" fanbase is particularly respectful.
The one thing I can say about the TWD fanbase compared to the old is they are a lot more enthusiastic about the game. They complain about dates but not the game.
I'd never heard of Telltale before TWD and I'm pretty lovable, if I do say so myself.
Nobody doubts that Pride, but the whole point of this post is that with all the good that TWD has brought to Telltale, it has brought some trolls as well. That is who the original poster was talking about, and not yourself unless you intend to make an ass of yourself running around posting comments where they have no business being.
Personally, I do find some people annoying but don't qualify them based on when they began posting. I don't think I'll be that into Fables (not that I know anything about it yet though) so I plan on integrating into the "shitted up" fanbase.

There's more than one way to troll and posting comments in the wrong area is less trolling and more rabid fans.
It's just one specific behavior that annoys people and it's frankly a silly thing to get mad about. How anal retentive does a person have to be to get mad a comment on a video game site is in the wrong place? What effect does it have? Are they made they wasted seconds reading it? Are they just super organization freaks that need things in their right place? What is the deal?

The deal is that without order, there is chaos, which is why there are moderators in the first place. BUT, that doesn't mean you have to make them work harder by intentionally posting in the wrong place. It's pretty obvious that if the forum is (for example) for Monkey Island, it's really not the best place to be complaining about the release date.

I feel like you are missing the point. A while ago, there was a blog post about Sam and Max, and instead of it being about that, it was BOMBARDED with angry Walking Dead fans. THOS are the people this thread is talking about, the ones that pointlessly attack others for their own goals. It doesn't matter at all if you don't play other telltale games, but when you go to that level, then we have a problem.
Besides that look at Ranthony's avatar, he clearly came for SBCG4AP not Sam and Max

Red Panda's comments regarding the BTTF blog post were in response to my refuting that things were always as aggressive as they are now (even though I was specifically talking about a time before the BTTF games). I don't believe in any real distinction between old and new fans, but I think it's a quantifiable fact that things have escalated over the past year to levels that have never before been seen, something supported by the BTTF blog Red Panda had highlighted.
It's awfully disappointing that there are individuals commenting who can't recognise that this thread is talking about behaviour, not about people, and not about taste. The "new" people can stay, and they can like whatever they want, but the behaviour has to stop.
There are no "fuddy duddy" people telling others to get off their lawn. There are people who have been legitimately offended and hurt by the unacceptable and inappropriate behaviour of others (as Vainamoinen has previously mentioned, in addition to the generally beligerant behaviour on the blog and elsewhere, there've also been very direct and targeted acts of hate against individuals), and I find the dismissal of that to be tremendously uncool.

Now it's pre BTTF time and not walking dead? Wow. That's a drastic shift in position. Way to stick with your guns.
The new fans can stay but have to behave? Are you serious? What are you going to do if they don't? You talk like you have actual power and control.
People are offended and hurt? Yeah, sorry. That's what you're choosing to believe, not what's there. I'm happy to say that offering a casual fictional insult that might be misinterpreted, which is not even remotely hateful (no matter which way you twist it), is totally more civilized than the kind of abhorrent behavior we're talking about.
What is your thinking? Posting about release dates is offensive and hurtful but saying people are "shitting up a fan base," calling them a "huge jackass," and saying they're "bitching" isn't? Wow. You have things so backwards.
Now it's pre BTTF time and not walking dead? Wow. That's a drastic shift in position. Way to stick with your guns.
How is that a shift? I'd always said pre-Universal, and I called you out several times for ignoring that. Is there some way I can reiterate it that might actually be heard?

Communities are deeply interactive things, and are influenced and controlled by collective behaviours. So long as there is inappropriate behaviour, I will continue to highlight it so that it can be understood, and perhaps convince others to be outspoken against it.
Interestingly, you yourself said that the kind of behaviour discussed in this thread should stop, and is "not even debatle or up for discussion". Upon what authority did you make that determination?

It's very obvious that I'm not talking about general release date complaints. Your ability to misinterpret, misconstrue and misappropriate the words of others almost seems intentional.
Are you denying Vainamoinen's account of people being stalked? Are you denying lucidity02's account of being attacked on these forums? Are you denying that comments like "walk off and die," "It shows how pathetic and imapteint you are," "So shut your mouth and go play your stupid dog and rabbit kiddie game," are more hurtful than saying that people who say that sort of stuff are "huge jackasses" (as if being accused of being a large mule is particularly offensive anyway)? Are you denying that comments like "All these people saying they don't care about Sam and Max make me want to cry. " are evidence of people feeling offended and hurt?
In case you're not aware, you are coming across as unnecessarily aggressive, and I'd like to ask you to please consider your attitude when posting. You can refute my arguments without resorting to cheap inflamatory or snide remarks like "Wow. You have things so backwards," "Way to stick with your guns," or repeatedly attempting to use my own words against me.
I find your comments to be amusing, but I am know there are others who would find them offputting and chose to not participate in the discussion because of that - which wouldn't be a very nice outcome, and is (at least in part) the sort of thing that we would hope to prevent by discouraging the kind of behaviour that this thread is about.
Edit: Vainamoinen, were you going to adjust the thread title, or are you still waiting for more suggestions? It does seem to be something that people are fixating on rather than the real message of the first post.
Now Now. I'm new to this whole community. Not a ton of people are like that. I personally can wait as long as they want for another release. Would it i like it sooner? Yes. Am I going to yell at them if they don't? No
Not all of us are bad you can't judge an entire book by its cover. Plus this is a breakthrough to tell tayle games. This is what they wanted isn't it? high success rating. With this game being this good bringing in new fans which is great for business. Keeps them floating.
The one thing I can say about the TWD fanbase compared to the old is they are a lot more enthusiastic about the game. They complain about dates but not the game.
It's not so much the case with other games.
There's a visible shift in complaint topics, I agree that much. But first of all, there's a reason release date complaints were on the rise this time, which is that Telltale could not keep the advertised monthly schedule, not even by the usual five to six week definition.
This has nothing to do with the TWD fanbase. The BTTF fans might have reacted in the same way had they been confronted with a one month delay right off the bat. The Sam & Max fanbase, well, they at least have a fighting chance to have escaped their slight mobification - as after three Seasons, they have the firm expectation that Telltale will eventually deliver; and a LOT of these people have already argued three to five years ago that Telltale shouldn't "rush things" and "take their time" to make a better episode. Experience isn't gathered with a single game, and trust isn't spilled easily if your first experience is a negative one.
And second, yes, there are of course complaints 'about the game'! About this character killed and that character killed; about choices without lasting consequences; about the psychological depth and believability of the characters; about comic/novel canon violations - and so on. And if these topics are addressed in a calm manner, well, that's exactly what most of the community is here to do, to not passively digest this story, but to voice opinion about it too, criticism included.
I love The Walking Dead so far. I think it's the best thing Telltale's done since The Devil's Playhouse
As I said, "the old community" is a diffuse identity. You'll maybe find people who came for Back to the Future and still have a "TWD fans are rioters" attitude, thus euphemizing the BTTF blog comments of the past.
Not all of us are bad you can't judge an entire book by its cover.
It's not the cover. It's just a very small chapter which has shoved itself in the front page direction which is rather unfortunately printed in excrement ink.
Edit: Vainamoinen, were you going to adjust the thread title, or are you still waiting for more suggestions? It does seem to be something that people are fixating on rather than the real message of the first post.
I was hoping that someone would make a better suggestion... than that monstrosity I put up there just now.
How is that a shift? I'd always said pre-Universal, and I called you out several times for ignoring that.
Lie.
I will continue to highlight it so that it can be understood, and perhaps convince others to be outspoken against it.
Nobel cause. Maybe you can cure cancer next.
Interestingly, you yourself said that the kind of behaviour discussed in this thread should stop, and is "not even debatle or up for discussion". Upon what authority did you make that determination?
You don't need authority to give an opinion.
lol, keep trying.
Keep denying.
It's very obvious that I'm not talking about general release date complaints.
No it isn't.
Your ability to misinterpret, misconstrue and misappropriate the words of others almost seems intentional.
Passive aggressive much?
In case you're not aware, you are coming across as unnecessarily aggressive, and I'd like to ask you to please consider your attitude when posting.

Is this like when the fantastic better-than-the-average-gamer old school TTG community said they wanted to kill me in this very thread?
Look, I don't know what your problem is, but your attempts to label me as a liar are ridiculous. All they show is that you don't read what others say. Here's where I started to talk about it.
As somebody who's been vaguely present member of the Telltale community over the past 5 years, I feel that it's up to me to correct you in your false belief that things weren't any better before. The kind of behaviour that the OP is talking about is uncivilised, and we had none of it (certainly not of the voracity that we've seen recently) before the Universal deal started to bear fruit.
Again, you've ignored what's been said. I specifically mention the incidents of stalking, and you tell me that I'm talking about release date complaints? Seriously.
Your ability to misinterpret, misconstrue and misappropriate the words of others almost seems intentional.
Passive aggressive much?
That's not passive aggressive. That's a sincere statement.
I am starting to believe that you are being intentionally abrasive and putting words in others mouths (like when you just accused me of lying). Based on your attempted manouvering in trying to get me into a position where you could tell me "Yeah, sorry. That's what you're choosing to believe, not what's there," I imagine that you are trying to incite some aggressive behaviour so that you can claim that those who disagree with you are exhibiting the same behaviour highlighted in the first post.
I have been very polite towards you, much more polite than I believe you deserve, and certainly far more polite than you've been to me. I don't expect you to acknowledge that, but I hope that others will.
Even if I haven't, that's no reason for you to not reconsider how you present your arguments if you are not intentionally being inflammatory.
Is this like when the fantastic better-than-the-average-gamer old school TTG community said they wanted to kill me in this very thread?
Sure, definitely. This isn't about old or new, it's about people behaving like "huge jackasses". Whilst that behaviour is new, I don't deny that it's coming from both sides (if there are indeed sides). Some of the quotes I included there have come from fans of older games.
So you finally admit it's offensive. Good for you.
I never denied that people were offended by it (please stop putting words in my mouth). I denied (and still do) that it was the OP's intent to offend (so, people were are offended by it didn't need to be), which was clear from what I had said previously.
we had none of it (certainly not of the voracity that we've seen recently) before the Universal deal started to bear fruit.
See how you qualified that? Recently, meaning TWD? See? Lie. You were obviously mainly referring to TWD or purposely putting out vague positions so you can shit easily.
If cancer were a social trend, then I'm sure it would have been cured by now. How are you even drawing parallels between those?
The parallels between the two is it's hard to stop them; practically impossible. The difference between the two is one isn't even worth trying to stop. Guess which one.
Yet you say that I need an authority to hold my opinion that this needs to stop?
No, but you didn't give an opinion. You issued a proclamation. Big difference.
Again, you've ignored what's been said. I specifically mention the incidents of stalking, and you tell me that I'm talking about release date complaints? Seriously.
No. Plus I was being stalked on the forums by old school users. Shame, really.
That's not passive aggressive.
We'll have to agree to disagree.
I have been very polite towards you, much more polite than I believe you deserve, and certainly far more polite than you've been to me. I don't expect you to acknowledge that, but I hope that others will.
Me too.
Even if I haven't, that's no reason for you to not reconsider how you present your arguments if you are not intentionally being inflammatory.
Are you saying I'm flaming? Wow. All this talk about insults and you say that, just because I'm in San Francisco. You need to drop the stereotypes. I'll forgive though because I'm a nice person.

Shifting positions again. Now it's new behavior and not new people. I guess you can do that when being vague in the first place.
I never denied that people were offended by it (please stop putting words in my mouth). I denied (and still do) that it was the OP's intent to offend (so, people were are offended by it didn't need to be), which was clear from what I had said previously.
That's the same thing as denying it. In fact, it's even more offensive way of denying it. You're implying people are only offended b/c they're too stupid to understand what they're reading. And what does the writers intent matter to how other people are offended? It doesn't work that way. Ever.
You talk all this shit about I don't respect you blah blah blah but I never intended to disrespect you. Still, did my intent matter then? No. I guess intent in relation to respect only matters when you're trying to prove a point.
So many cool stories, most of which are getting beyond rational discussion (I notice that we're getting a bit more inappropriate language, and I'd like to see that stop). You have some interesting outlooks on life and social interaction that I don't share and am glad aren't practiced anywhere I've lived/visited, but if they work for you and aren't unpleasant for those around you, then that's great.
I will highlight this though, as I think it is very revealing about the dissonant nature of our discussion.
Even if I haven't, that's no reason for you to not reconsider how you present your arguments if you are not intentionally being inflammatory.

Passive aggressive. It's such a thinly veiled insult I don't see why you just don't come right out and say it.
Of course I would point that out. I never once employed a sterotype against you, and I did not know (or care) that you are in San Francisco. There is obviously some disconnect at work that is letting you see these things
At any rate, I hope that discussion of (other?) inappropriate aggreesive behaviour can continue.

It was a joke. It was a play on words. I don't always joke, and I haven't been, but that time I was.
I hope the discussion can continue also. But I'm done.
As near as I can tell, Red Panda as a whole was a joke who has been flaming you the whole time in this thread. Why it has been allowed to continue is beyond me as the "confused" nature in their postings has been very deliberate. All they've done is convolute and twist others words, and it needs to stop whether they are truly done with this thread (which I highly doubt, as I fully expect a response from them for my posting here) or not.

This is super off-topic. Since you wrote all these nasty, untrue accusations and "fully expect a response" (yeah, who wouldn't?) I'm assuming you're trying to flame me.
Nothing you say is true and I don't appreciate it, this isn't the place to air your frustrations, and I would appreciate if you would send me a private message or find a more constructive way to deal with your frustrations. Thank you.

Not all of us are bad you can't judge an entire book by its cover. Plus this is a breakthrough to tell tayle games. This is what they wanted isn't it? high success rating. With this game being this good bringing in new fans which is great for business. Keeps them floating.
A shift in position? Whose position? Certainly not the original poster's, where I perceive VERY visible brackets around BTTF, JP, L&O and BoC:
As I said, "the old community" is a diffuse identity. You'll maybe find people who came for Back to the Future and still have a "TWD fans are rioters" attitude, thus euphemizing the BTTF blog comments of the past.
It's not the cover. It's just a very small chapter which has shoved itself in the front page direction which is rather unfortunately printed in excrement ink.
I was hoping that someone would make a better suggestion... than that monstrosity I put up there just now.
It's not too bad. Not so graceful, but it's succinct, accurate, and potentially less likely to offend.
So you finally admit it's offensive. Good for you.
Lie.
Nobel cause. Maybe you can cure cancer next.
You don't need authority to give an opinion. Keep denying.
No it isn't.
Passive aggressive much?
Back at you. See above.
Thank you.
Is this like when the fantastic better-than-the-average-gamer old school TTG community said they wanted to kill me in this very thread?
If cancer were a social trend, then I'm sure it would have been cured by now. How are you even drawing parallels between those?
Yet you say that I need an authority to hold my opinion that this needs to stop?
Again, you've ignored what's been said. I specifically mention the incidents of stalking, and you tell me that I'm talking about release date complaints? Seriously.
Sure, definitely. This isn't about old or new, it's about people behaving like "huge jackasses". Whilst that behaviour is new, I don't deny that it's coming from both sides (if there are indeed sides). Some of the quotes I included there have come from fans of older games.
I never denied that people were offended by it (please stop putting words in my mouth). I denied (and still do) that it was the OP's intent to offend (so, people were are offended by it didn't need to be), which was clear from what I had said previously.
See how you qualified that? Recently, meaning TWD? See? Lie. You were obviously mainly referring to TWD or purposely putting out vague positions so you can shit easily.
The parallels between the two is it's hard to stop them; practically impossible. The difference between the two is one isn't even worth trying to stop. Guess which one.
No, but you didn't give an opinion. You issued a proclamation. Big difference.
No. Plus I was being stalked on the forums by old school users. Shame, really.
We'll have to agree to disagree.
Me too.
I will highlight this though, as I think it is very revealing about the dissonant nature of our discussion.
Passive aggressive. It's such a thinly veiled insult I don't see why you just don't come right out and say it.
lmao! You would point that out.
But yeah, I'm done for real this time. Nothing left to add.
At any rate, I hope that discussion of (other?) inappropriate aggreesive behaviour can continue.
It was a joke. It was a play on words. I don't always joke, and I haven't been, but that time I was.
I hope the discussion can continue also. But I'm done.
Thank you.
