Does Whedon have any creative control over the stand alones? Like say he wanted to use Mandarin in Avengers 2 he could tell Black he can't use Mandarin.
  • edited May 2013
I don't think using the Mandarin would be a good idea because he's already kinda shown up. I want AIM remnants with MODOK!

Though, the more I think about it, even if Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were antagonists for a brief period, they could cause a lot of trouble. Or at least Scarlet Witch could. I mean, if she used her Hex power on Banner, would he lose control instantly, or just at the worst possible moment? Because really, if he went on a rampage, that would probably be the end of the fight right there.

I mean can Joss say what directors can use in stand alone if it effects Avengers?
  • edited May 2013
I'd guess there's probably some discussion. At the very least so the standalone directors can include appropriate cameos and plotpoints. Like in Phase one, we had the Tesseract changing hands all the time, Loki, Black Widow and Hawkeye... that sort of deal.

We have Marvel vs Capcom and DC Universe vs Mortal Kombat...Exactly when will the decide to make Marvel vs DC? Batman vs Spiderman!, Lex vs Doc, Ock! Iron Man vs Superman...

Yeahhhh...try to get Marvel and DC to play nice for five minutes.

I think he meant in THIS day and age. In which case:

    Is... is that Jubilee?
  • edited May 2013
    So, anyway...

How does everyone feel about the Phase 3 films that are being apparently optioned? We've heard from people actually involved that a new Hulk film, or films from Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther, or the Runaways are on the cards as well.

Dr Strange being my favorite hero would be one of the few that actually would make me want to go to the theater then go home and buy action figures and tie-in merchandise. Would love another Hulk film though.

    Yes!

I want a Hulk film with Mark Ruffalo written by Joss Whedon and Peter David. I need this to be a thing that happens.

Hulk would be interesting, though I suppose it depends on which story they go with.

Doctor Strange... again, not to put down the character but his thing is basically magic, and I'm not entirely sure that'd work too well in the more realistic movie universe. Would be interested though!

Iron Fist... who's that? *googles* Oh, this guy. I dunno, I see him fitting more into the SHIELD show than a stand-alone movie, since he's basically a really awesome martial artist, but I suppose with a bit of work it could be done.

Black Panther... look, he's basically an African Batman. Not saying that's not interesting, but... he's pretty much just a black Bruce Wayne. I can't see a feature film being built around such a similar concept.

The Runaways? Who? *google* Oh. Another group of super-powered people, only these are kids. Yay.

Apparently Marvel is also working on a new Blade and Ms Marvel movie (according to the page you linked). I'm not sure about Blade - I think he's firmly liked to vampire killing by this point - but Ms Marvel sounds like it could be an interesting (and much needed female led) movie.

I wish Rouge had Miss Marvel's powers in the movies. This is just from my knowledge of the 90s Cartoon though.

If they have Whedon doing a Hulk film and do anything with a Peter David storyline, it will be amazing. And I think that Whedon, if he were on a Hulk film, would go along the lines of a Peter David story because those seem to be the kinds of stories he likes to tell.

Quicksilver is also going to be in X-Men Days of Future Past and Avengers 2. Man this is going to be confusing.

Is he fast enough to be in two places at once?

EDIT: Also, I found this and I couldn't help myself. All of the THIS.

No. It's going to be a legal clusterf**k. And since Quicksilver is primarily an X-Men character from what I understand, I think Joss is probably gonna lose this one. Seriously, how long until Marvel can buy back the rights to all their crap now that they have their own movie studio?

It's a big secret I know but Marvel makes things that are not movies or television shows.

You're a good man, coolsome. Don't ever change.

Maybe they can have Scarlet Witch and MercuryMan (who is totally not Quicksilver except that he looks and sounds like him and is played by the same actor.)

    Japanese Iron Man!

That's my takeaway message from that trailer.
  • edited June 2013
My memory of the X-Men and Wolverine is rusty, but I believe that's supposed to be the Silver Samurai.

I'm also certain that coolsome will be along any minute to correct and/or chastise me.
  • edited June 2013
Yh It is Silver Samurai he has been confirmed to be the villain for ages now.:P Also I thnk hes in been other Wolverine trailers (theirs been like 8!).
  • edited June 2013
Yeah, I know next to nothing about X-men, save what I've been able to glean from the movies and their appearances in Deadpool and Hulk comics.

Sorry for the double post, but looks like Robert Downey Jr. is going to be in Avengers 2 and Avengers 3.

    http://www.imdb.com/news/ni55824487/

Which is good, because apparently Whedon was going to back out of the project if they couldn't get him as Tony Stark.
  • edited June 2013
No 'looks' about it, he's signed the contract and it's done.

Obviously, this is very cool news.

Considering he's appeared in two films now, I'm guessing he's here for the long run.

Sorry, slight spoiler there. My bad.

I'm keeping the gif, though. It's possibly the best gif that I've discovered.

    Well... second to this one:

Actually... this one's a pretty good gif for Microsoft vs Sony... Guess which one's which.
