Yeah I'm thinking the same way I did with Colonial Marines, being a huge fan of both the "Alien" series and TWD, I'm gonna assume the worst from it so I won't be disappointed lol. Had high hopes for Colonial Marines but should have known better, okay game but what a god awful, plot hole, Ret-conning piece of story that turned out to be. It was an embarrassment to the original "Aliens" movie and will forever pretend it never existed... much like S. Darko...

Hope this game doesn't let us down like many believe it will.

And the PC version has been cancelled. That's pretty much an admission that they don't give a fuck about this game. I guess they figure the PC crowd is more discerning?

    Well.... Ok then.

Will probably end up saving me money in the long run.
Thanks Activision, no impulse buy from me now.

What about Crysis 3,is that any good?

What about Crysis 3,is that any good?

The gameplay is pretty similar to Crysis 2, except that the levels are more open in general, with more verticality, the AI is better, and the guns feel a bit more responsive. The story is a bit deeper and less confusing than Crysis 2, but it isn't anything to write home about. The graphics are insane, hands down the best looking game on all platforms of release (especially great on PC). It's a fun game, but a bit short by my standards (it's about 6-7 hours long, if you take your time).

The multiplayer is pretty fun, kind of like a mix of Call of Duty and Halo. There are a lot of different modes and maps, and the hit detection is pretty good, assuming you have a decent connection.

I played Crysis 3 Beta Multiplayer, and I didn't really enjoy it. It felt like Call of Duty in the future.

I do like Call of Duty (more so just MW2) but after 5 mins or so I quit the beta, others might've liked it though.

5 minutes isn't an accurate representation of the game... at all.

Hey, if you get high off your ass before you watch S. Darko...it still sucks ungodly amounts of ass. :(

I'll get the game just to be supportive of the Walking Dead. If the game sucks, I'll let everyone else do the talking for me :D

I'm going to pre-order it next week. I mean, come on, Daryl Dixon.

    Okay, 10 mins, happy?

I still didn't like the gameplay of it, and if I were to purchase it would be to solely play online, and god knows how long it'll be before Crysis 3 multiplayer is shut down.

I don't get the whole woman gaga over 'Daryl Dixon'. But... yeah, I think that Survival Instinct will be about average for a TWD game, considering the only one I've liked and wanted to play MORE and MORE was Telltale's.

You can "dislike" the gameplay, just don't try to sway someone's opinion based on... 10 minutes. That isn't even a full match.

The first time I played Modern Warfare 2, already during the first two minutes I was hooked up and addicted to it, whereas C3 it was different.

Have to say that MW2's the only CoD that I find playable and the only one I'm used to, with maps, ranking and weapons.

I'm surprised at that. I absolutely despised MW2. liked MW and BO though. BO probably may favorite for 4+

The game's finished and being printed as we speak, as it's gone gold and the actor who plays Daryl has a copy of the finished product.

Wow, the amount of people who (at least in the early pages) were willing to condemn this game before it even being released is horrifying. Taking it to that extent is really close minded. An opinion is good but geez...
Sorry if things lightened up in later pages, too many to read right now.

Sometimes certain fans of games like TTG's TWD can be really... just 'one of those annoying know it alls' who won't give anything a chance or let anyone be a fan of anything else that's related to their God of all games. Even worse than people who didn't like TTG's version because it's not FPS or something.

Sad to see it already happening to 'The Last Of Us' as well. I've seen people harshly criticising the fill-in father/daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie - saying 'NOTHING WILL BEAT LEE AND CLEMENTINE AND THEY SHOULDN'T EVEN TRY - and it's still months from release. It was embaressing seems as The Last Of Us is really the only other release this year I'm really looking forward to... :/

Sorry if this seemed like a long, pointless or even off topic rant. When stuff comes to mind I just have to type it. Seeing certain posts brought a lot to mind. I didn't mean anything to come off annoying to anyone.

On-topic - I am looking forward to this adaptation, they have potential to make something good and unique. If anything it'll make good comparison material :)

I'm very excited for The Last of Us, but with this game it just did not show much promise early on. Some pre-alpha(or whatever it was) footage is shown, then it's announced as being released a couple months later. My opinion on this would be the same even if i had never heard of the Walking Dead franchise at all beforehand. Not saying that it can't succeed or isn't likely to, but it didn't do a very good job at building hype initially.

The bigwig channels on youtube advertising the exact same footage as both the base game and DLC didn't help much, either.

I'm saddened that i won't get to play it since the PC version was cancelled, but at least i can march to youtube to see what people think of it.

I smell two-player co-op, regenerating health, ten thousand zombies being blown apart in an hour, and a considerable lack of survival elements in the name of broad marketing appeal.
Trying to make a Left For Dead related joke I see. :p

Which was in fact a fun game.
  • edited March 2013
Activision as the publisher of the game is doing a very poor job marketing the game to be successful and getting people to buy on day one (or better yet, pre-order).

For the love of God and his Son, this game better not suck. It's coming out on the 19th March 2013.

It's hard to buy the game when I've seen this, which looks pitifully done. I'll just wait for AngryJoe, or some other honest reviewer and then consider.
  • edited March 2013
I'm expecting the game to be shovelware. If it's actually a good game, their lack of marketing is baffling. At this point, they're probably just hoping to draw in people who will confuse it with Telltale's game and fans of the show. If it's actually good they should be trying to sell it to a wider audience.

That being said, I hope I'm wrong.

I'll hold out for reviews, but it looks pretty dire by all accounts, Big shame.
  • edited March 2013
I sure as hell the game is decent enough because I'd hate if it joined the same group of Mindjack, Aliens Colonial Marines, Brink, Duke Nukem Forever, Homefront and Bodycount, just to name a few golden poopers of this generation.

But well, there's always someone who finds awful games to be the opposite, and that's their personal choice, good for them they found it good.

God have mercy on The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

I don't know if it's just my feed of AMC, but I'm not seeing any commercials for this during TWD. That doesn't seem right...

Damnit Kirkman don't let this tarnish the name The Walking Dead!

I'm hoping it'll be good but expecting the worse...

Like the Interviewer said there's no good reason or proof to believe it won't be a generic FPS with zombies. The trailers don't exactly tell us anything different.

True, but - info from an actual developer of the game does carry a bit of weight.

It kind of amazes me - it almost seems like many people want it to fail (i.e. fans)

Info from a developer is not always....completely trustworthy...

No. It's a healthy amount of cynicism. It's not throwing ourselves all over a game that I honestly didn't think would be good from the start.

After reading that interview, it sounds much better. Why was this information not given until one week before the games release? This is why people are not liking the game so far.

Can you honestly say that you’ve seen enough of Survival Instinct to accurately describe it to your friends? Have you only just learned about the mechanics discussed above by reading this article? Does that make you fear for the overall quality of the game?

    Yes. Yes it does.

I'm not sure if I'd call it healthy. Maybe that's the problem - you have a preconceived bias?

Or maybe I'm just more open minded and patient, being from a time where the internet didn't exist as it does today and you got your information from magazines... and were lucky to get a full page of info if it wasn't one of the "big" games.

Ok. So, you assume, I'm biased, impatient, closed minded, and not old enough to understand what you're talking about. Alright. That's great.

Lemme explain all the problems I've seen with this game so far
    1. It's a first person shooter. A genre that's been milked to death, and is usually bland and unoriginal in recent years.
    2. The game has flown completely under the radar, despite being a game in a rather big franchise, released soon after another game in the same franchise got GOTY in multiple different places.
    3. It wasn't announced all that long ago was it?
    4. There has been little shown gameplay footage.
    5. The game looks like garbage. I'm usually not one to gripe with graphics, but the game seems to be trying to be as realistic as possible, but it just doesn't look appealing to the eyes. Either go for a stylized look, or make your game actually look decent.
    6. No PC version.

    Yes, maybe, maybe, and no.

    In that order.

We can now add butthurt to that list with a yes though.

That part of your quote sums up how I came to my opinion.

Wait. I'm butthurt? I wasn't raging. I wasn't doing anything that a butthurt individual would generally do. I'm honestly confused how you came to the conclusion that my anus was ever hurt
