I just watched the Up At Noon footage. They talk about choice and even applaud the Telltale choice system, then the developer says "We have choices too! You'll have vehicles with limited seating and you'll have to make the tough choice, do I leave this survivor behind or do I get another vehicle with more seats?"
Imagine if TWD were that easy:
"No Lee! You can't be bitten! I have a sedan!"
"Really? Wow, I feel great now, sweet pea."
Imagine it more so: You play Merle and your only way out of a situation is by helping a group of survivors. You can either leave some of them behind by just picking a normal car, or you could make a supply run to the nearby community center, were is a big bus. It would be more dangerous, and the group could be attacked, while you there.
Well, the alpha footage was shown in December, and the game is coming out on March...
Admittedly, I don't have first-hand experience on how the industry works, but I doubt three months are enough to go from "alpha" to "finished product".
Well given that it is Activision published, I'm not expecting much, but it would at least seem the developers are giving it all that they've got despite this. The game won't be completely finished when it is released, I think it'll be clunky, loaded with bugs, and downright hated by even its target audience, however, I think that there will be some small bright spots where you can see there was some potential before it was rushed out the door by Activision. Sorry for the negativity on Activision, but it's just my perspective and opinion and I really hope they can prove me wrong, that's just been the reputation of the company in my eyes. Anyways, I really doubt this will be anything too engaging, both gamewise and in storytelling.
A leading german PC game magazine released some new info on the game a while ago (just read it in the printed version and just now saw it has been online for some time).
For those that don't understand german, but understand that google translator is not an option as of yet, I decided to spare those 20 minutes and translate it. Maybe the game actually has some potential after all...

In reply to Telltale’s superb episodic adventure [of the Walking Dead], Activision offers an interesting shooter in reply. We have taken a look at The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and will explain the differences to the [point and click] adventure and what the ego shooter is worth.
On invitation from Activision we travelled to London and were allowed to attend a demonstration of the ego shooter that has been announced for a 2013 release. Of course we wouldn’t want to keep our impressions and some new bits and pieces of information about the dramatic plot from you. While the adventure episodes from Telltale orient themselves mostly on the comic book-based tale, Terminal Reality – the developers of Survival Instinct – have concentrated on a close cooperation with the US network AMC. The ego shooter thus uses the TV series as a source but only loosely connects with the happenings of the TV episodes.
To determine the main character for the game, the Walking Dead: Survival Instinct developers held a fan poll prior to the development process, one that Daryl Dixon could decide for himself with a big lead. So you will take the role of the crossbow freak Daryl, who has survived the creepy zombie apocalypse with his brother Merle. Full of hope to find a safe shelter in Atlanta, these two profoundly different characters make their dangerous trip across the US state of Georgia.
We will have to disappoint those hoping for open-world action, it is rather necessary to search for waypoints on a kind of survey map in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Through this the developers keep full control of the dramatic composition and the arc of suspense of the elaborate story, without constricting the player too much. So for instance it will be up to you whether you play through the single areas with blazing guns or sneak around dangers and which survivors you decide to cooperate with. As in the TV show the zombie enemies (so called walkers or roamers) have an excellent sense of smell and react highly sensitive to sounds of any kind.
Because of this, the use of guns should be well-considered outside of the fact that ammunition is sparse, as spraying bullets all over the place will immediately lure menacing zombie hordes around. A group of two or three enemy zombies is well capable of ending Daryl’s life. So the name of the game is: Use every cover possible and be busy using blunt and stab weapons.
Synopsis:
„The cooperation with the developers of the TV series promises suspense”
The Walking Dead doesn’t just contrast itself strongly from the masses of zombie games out there by using the Emmy awarded TV series source material, it actually seems to have something on the ball as well, playwise. While watching the presentation in London I especially liked the threatening atmosphere of Survival Instinct. Those not paying attention at all times, keeping supposed zombie corpses in view at all times, are likely to be attacked from behind and massacred. Conversely the player has a lot of tricks up his sleeve as well. If you prepare a building with fireworks for example and ignite them, you can walk among the zombies mostly unbothered while it lasts.
P.S.: I'm not a translator, nor a journalist. Please feel free to correct me if my translation or wording is off anywhere.

Day Z Standalone however...
Don't except DayZ SA to be like the Walking Dead, you will be shitting your fucking pants when the zombies chase you indoors. Player killing times are over, my friend.

But I doubt you make choices with deep impact.
They did say in an interview that players will come to the about the same ending. I don't mind. I'll still play the game, since I don't care about graphics, just as long as the gameplay is fun. Plus, my birthday is coming right after that, so I'll just ask for that.
Is it me or is that "official" trailer the exact same footage from the DLC trailer?
Edit: I'm referring to this video, for reference. Compared to the official link above.
Yep it is.
Activision needs to make sure that the game sells, and in order to do that they'll have to advertise it with a playable demo. Or else, the sales might flop.
I said that because one was advertised as the official trailer while the other was advertised as DLC content...so is that footage from the base game itself or the DLC?
Is it me or did the trailer show a location that looked a LOT like Savannah from Telltale's game?
Oh that and the the game didn't look as bad as the older trailer, so that is a plus, let's hope it improves more before release if possible.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. Also, am I the only one bother by the fact that they advertising with/released a DLC trailer for a game that hasn't been nor is even close to being released yet? That goes to show they've spent development time working on DLC for the game when they could've easily put that content in the game. SO they're basically saying: "Hey you're going to have to pay an extra $4.99 on top of the $59.99 you already paid for the game if you want the 'full' version."
hmm i think i'd give it a try, though I have a pretty solid feeling it won't be close to being anywhere as good as Telltale's Walking Dead. and yeah, i think a demo would be a good idea for them but I hardly doubt theyd be looking in this thread for suggestions
And the PC version has been cancelled. That's pretty much an admission that they don't give a fuck about this game. I guess they figure the PC crowd is more discerning?

Lol..There's gonna be A lot of pissed people..
Or..not ._.

Well, one less reason for me to give a shit about this game since, you know, I wouldn't be able to play it if I did.
You let me know how much it sucks when it comes out, guys.
I have thought about getting TWD Survival Instinct, but it doesn't look that good,my other choice was Aliens Colonial Marines as I love the Aliens franchise, but that got some bad reviews, any help?

I don't know what to expect for Survival Instinct, but definitely avoid Aliens Colonial Marines until it drops down in price.

P.P.S.: All others enjoy... or not...
Seems like they're ready.
Hopefully they'll release a demo to finalise it.
Try before buy < My favourite way of trying a game.

its because it is the same trailer...

No, but months after, for these games at least:
Call of Duty: World at War
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Under special circumstances to certify that people will buy the game, they should release a demo of it.
Lol..There's gonna be A lot of pissed people..

Unfortunately, same here. Not that i had very high hopes for the game to begin with, but still....
The game looks fine to me.
I don't know what to expect for Survival Instinct, but definitely avoid Aliens Colonial Marines until it drops down in price.
Rental is a good idea as others have suggested.
