It's the level of interactivity and map design that I'm looking forward to. Duke has always been more interesting to play than any other title. And it's been said from the playthroughs by fans at PAX that it doesn't disappoint in that area.
For the love of God, I don't want to hear any whining about this. I get enough from the Star Wars new 3 and Indiana Jones 4...please, if you don't want to play it or want to be a hater then just bugger off...
I personally think it looks like there's alot going on in this game and it looks fun.I'm likely to try to enjoy it and have a good time, I'm sure that there's lots of people on the net who are going to have a big problem with that whole idea...
I'm 23 years old, not old as some of you but old enough to play the first shooters and adventure games ever made...I don't have a stick up my ass about either genre and as much as I'm glad, thrilled that the adventure game genre is more visible today and am sort of displeased it's not as visible as it once was, shooters mostly in its place, I still look towards the new Duke game.
Each to their own, but PLEASE spare us from any whining any of you might be preparing yourself for...
Seriously, how approved this? The perspective is poorly drawn, the background looks like a child or beginner in photo shop took his hand to it. The hand looks like Duke's, looks awkward...
I can honestly say from a graphic design perspective that my fellow students would probably say this is poorly designed...

It should have been the Nuclear Symbol and I would have been happier, am I going to buy the game? Yes..am I going to find and print some artwork, you bet.

Yeah, we're students. Which is only relevant because I brought it up and now you want to use it as a standard I suppose and compare a learner to a supposed master, huh?
It's not only my academic opinion that this box art blows, as a fan of a upset fan community about a box design it's also my opinion that this box art is poorly done by the standards it should/ could be judged on socially.
Socially speaking, the conditioned standards here, are generally academic and some what objective rather than subjective. Not to mention most the fans who have waited for 15 years and love Duke see this and don't get a Duke feeling from it...
If he's going to get paid for his work he might as well be paid for at the least a some what objective standard to validate his work. Their is a level of subjectivity here , but over all this box art is distracting and irregular, un-natural given the socially constructed conditioned standards of what video game box art should look like...
It's a man cocking his gun, in two ways. I'm not sure how the artist didn't capture Duke in one motion.
I hadn't noticed it but his shoulder is dislocated.
Also, he looks like a pimp, and the perspective is messed up he's leaning backwards and yet meant to stand, it's like he's laying on top a woman, who we can't even see, and it looks ricidulus...
The only think they got right is the cigar...
Look at the fan art, then look at this again...that's what it should look more like...Duke looks like a ****
The fan art is more boring than the studio art. The fan art is typical.
Duke is typical! He's a man's man. A ready man, a regular guy. He's a bad ass, he's all man. Not some sort of fantastical, vibrant , pretty scene, artsy ****ER...
He's simple, tough, cut around the edges, he's not full of trim and lace, why not just put him in a **** dress!?
The official artwork is a topic of MUCH debate on the 2k and Gearbox forums. And while they've seemed to have been giving us hope by saying "We are listening, guys" it seems they were leading us on as that's all they're doing is listening. It's been confirmed again by a 2k representative that that is in deed the final cover art design, despite the problems fans have with it.
I've given up on the issue. 2k will make whatever promotional mistake they want and we'll just see what happens as a result of it. Duke is a bad*** to be sure. The person on that cover is a college douchebag. Spiked hair instead of crew cut, younger age as opposed to the late 30s/early 40s look he had since Duke3D, cocking his head to the side like a wannabe. Completely unintimidating. Not to mention we're supposed to be staring up at him and yet the background completely destroys this perspective which makes it look like Duke is laying backwards...all the more douche-y. Looks like a cover for Saints Row or something. Then there's the dislocated shoulder which is just plain sloppiness. I like the design itself, but it needs work, mainly in that it needs Duke on the cover and not this pretty-boy imposter.
Myself, I'm going to play the game either way. I'm just worried about how non-Duke fans are going to take the cover. It portrays Duke as something he's not.

When I'm feeling like a human being, you look like a possible friend to me. When I let go and go back into my functional human form you're AWESOME!:p
I know what you want to say but i think this isn't fully true as things also have a more objective value. A plastic nuke coin might be the treasure of one man but i would value a syringe which is able to inject some medicine more valuable in comparison because of its importance.

Pardon my honesty: this, sir, is completely utterly crap.
This can be said of a lot of things we have, a lot, and have nothing to do with Duke Nukem, in the sense that if we want everyone to have access to medicine we need to change things at a level of redistribution of income and civil/political weigh that really, REALLY, has nothing to do with details of collectibles.
This is simply an easy and trite way to dismiss something you don't like. It's been used a lot agaist space exploration for example and it was utterly crap just the same.
If you don't like, just say "I don't like", spare us your easy moralistic mouth-fullers, please.
EDIT: Yes, easy preachers make me completely mad >:/
Nope, i disagree due to the reason i've explained above already. Of course it is valid for many other things we unnecessarily produce as well but this doesn't make it any better.
Yeah, it's strange because they actually officially do exist. But the bust is cool...as long as it's not simply cheap plastic. Myself, I'm pulling for the artbook the most, assuming it contains artwork of the evolution of the earliest forms of DNF to present rather than just concept art from the current version.

While I don't see a Wii port happening either, it wouldn't be because of the content. Remember, Manhunt 2 had a Wii port as well.

In all honesty I will probably skip it too.

I'm loving the addition of the artbook there! Looks amazing. I'd totally be buying this version on release if that's what we get.
Without the arts there would be no humanity.
Thank the world, I will finally be able to play this game, and finish my Duke memorabilia collection.
Some official gameplay footage given to meda to showcase. HD quality:
