Incidentally, according to the developers website, they developed the last Doctor who game (before the adventure games), "Destiny of the Doctors", which looked atrocious, but did have live action cutscenes.

Um. Sorry to correct you, but I believe that it's just some of the team who developed 'Destiny of the Doctor', not the entire team. Besides, that was years ago. I'm sure they've learned their lesson by now.

I think it could be just the company. I doubt that very many (if any) of the team still works there, which is why I left it as a sidenote. I'm really looking forward to these. Now, which one to Buy first....

Well, apparently these games are connected story wise starting with Evacuation earth then directly followed up by Return to earth . So the best way to experience the whole story would probably be to start with the game for the DS and then play the one for the Wii.
I’m probably only getting the one for the Wii, because I don’t own a DS

Oops, i'd been misreading the title as "excavation Earth"! What you said makes sense!

Seems a strange decision to start the story on one platform and continue it on another. Why do that?

I think it’s an interesting concept, to tell a larger story through several games. Not very practical, but still interesting. Hopefully the games plot will live up to this, not likely but possible.
I've played them all so far but somehow this one seemed shorter then normal.
It was. Considering the whole game took place in two rooms. I was expecting to be able to explore the Tardis, but two of the exits from the main room didn't do anything. Seeing as this episode had been in development for twice as long as the other two, I was expecting bigger things.

Well it's the things like this that make me wonder what a Doctor Who game would be like if they got Telltale to make it... and then wonder why the hell didn't the BBC try to get Telltale to make it.

I'm rather certain that if BBC got Telltale to make these games they wouldn't have been able to make them free (for people in the UK anyway).
Which make me wonder why they didn't let Telltale make the games for the Wii and DS?
Just played it, thought it was rubbish. The whole thing takes place in two rooms, neither of which are all that interesting, and while there's plenty of things in those rooms, hardly any of them serve any useful function. The puzzles are repeated almost verbatim from the first episode, and the game actually quizzes you twice - first on Doctor Who knowledge, and then on a Simon-Says style quest to activate the TARDIS only nowhere near as interesting as that sounds. Overall, the game lasted me an hour, and I was glad when it was over.
I know it was free, but I still want my money back.
There was pretty much no plot. Some "super dangerous" thing was released in a cut-scene, did nothing then The Doctor just told it to go outside. The BBC told us that we get to explore the TARDIS, yet there were only two rooms (I'm waiting for an episode of the show set entirely in the TARDIS with loads of rooms).
"Piloting" the TARDIS was completely destroyed by the poor controls and unresponsive button presses.
Also, the quiz makes no sense in terms of how they explained it in the story. How would Amy know what episode names were?
Each time I play these games I just think about how awesome they could be with Telltale involved. I certainly wouldn't mind paying for them.

Probably because they wanted British developers, who had grown up with the franchise, as they thought they would have better knowledge of the source material. Plus have a wider variety of gameplay options, and I would imagine getting the Voices may have been tricky (flying them oversees inbetween filming? Although i guess they could have made it work by recording them over here). If the games were made after Jurassic park, and BTTF, (which apparently contain action sequences), I think TTG may have been one of the top choices.
And then maybe the Doctor could have appeared in TTG's new mash-up game...
We can only hope for the next generation of who games (which is looking increasingly unlikely, with the TV license negotiations next year, and budget cuts)
Moffat has announced that the next series will be split in two (not just with a weeks break or so, but months!) Source
So we'll have to wait MONTHS for the resolution to "one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever"? Moffat is indeed a cruel man.

That just screams regeneration to me . And it'll mean the series boxset will be late
So just as the series is getting into its stride, it'll just stop and make us wait a couple of months?
Bullsh*t.
Well, seeing as they blamed the dip in viewing figures over the last 3/4 episodes on sunny weather and the world cup (even though the world cup matches most of the time didn't start until after the episodes), i guess it makes sense from an executive point of view to do that.

"Excavation Earth" actually sounds like a pretty cool story actually...

so ppl will buy both consoles XD
Could be a nice sequel for the 3DS if the games are a sucess

Tempting as it is to drop 150 quid just to experience all the Doctor Who love there is on offer, I think I'll have to pass.
I have both so im good
Who party at your place then?
Did you play the other chapters? :P They're all really short.
Anyway, I'd play Ep 3 but A. America and B. I ragequat episode 2 because it was so terrible.
I did same on episode one

Well I'd be fine with paying for a Doctor Who game by Telltale... but only if it's on the PC.
I know it was free, but I still want my money back.

Noooo! I hope not, it feels like Smith is just hitting his stride. He deserves at least another full series.

Or maybe they'll just pull another "fake regeneration" stunt.
I'm not sure how I feel about this series splitting. On the plus side, shorter breaks, on the minus side, shorter seasons.
Also, going the entire summer with a cliff hanger? I predict a fanfiction explosion.

Bullsh*t.
Some American series do this, too.
Stargate Universe, I'm looking at you...
I read quite a potentially major spoiler earlier. It's with regards to the cliff-hanger.. I hope it isn't true! *edit* the url ID contains spoilers! Sorry!
Man, just hovered my cursor over the link to see where it linked to, and... dang, (rumor) spoiler right in the url
its just a rumor at this point so dont worry
Woops! I've put a warning in my post now! I'm hoping it isn't true.Afterall,
I doubt this is true. The Sun is rather unreliable, especially as of late. The Johnny Depp/Who movie story comes to mind.
