So, I went to this school yesterday for a job interview, and took my 3DS with me in the hope of finally having a Streetpass encounter.
At least a 100 students passed me, but I made NO connection.
Where are all these Streetpass people?

HEY! Street Fighter is decent! Other than that. Yeah this is a sucky launch.

It's launch library is not that good, yeah, but HOLY **** at the stuff it'll have before even being a year old
-A very good Street Fighter IV port
-A decent revival of a franchise (Pilotwings)
    -A decent new IP (Steeldiver)
-A supposedly pretty good Ghost Recon game
    -Dead or Alive Dimensions
-At least one Resident Evil game
-A remake of the Zelda game that's considered by most to be the best game ever
-A remake of the best Starfox game
    -A new Kid Icarus
-A port of a good "Tales of" game that wasn't on Nintendo consoles before (and before anyone ask, yes, it was announced for NA too)
    -A new Paper Mario
-Possibly a new Super Mario Bros
-A Professor Layton game (ok, JP only right now but we'll get it eventually!)
-The only version of a proper Blazblue for a Nintendo console (still wishing it wasn't a freaking PSP port though -__-)
-And god knows what else turns out good/comes out this year.

    Just...damn.

And E3 is just around the corner, but they may focus more on Skyward Sword and the cafe.

    Hell Ya!

(I want to see Snake eat Snake action in full glorious detail!!)

Also, Professor Layton versus Ace Attorney. I'm holding off on a 3DS for now but that thing'll be epic. Let's just hope they don't pass over the english market.
  • edited April 2011
Heh, no way I could ever forget that, it's just really unlikely it'll be a '11 release.

God I want that game already D:

Not for me, actually. There was 7 games I wanted out of it's launch line up.

I will wait for a hardware revision or two, and hopefully by then it won't just be a crappy port machine.

If they come out with an XL version, I'm in.

Like that, unfortunately that was just an April Fool's joke. :p

I don't know what everyone else is going on about, but both Pilotwings and Steel Diver were awesome.

    Metacritic disagrees.

I'm good with a score of 70. That's on the fence enough for me to think that some people really like it and some people don't, rather than universal consensus. So there has to be a reason for the 70%.

Now read your post again and count the times that it says "A remake of" or "A port of".

    4.
But think of it like this.

A port of a 360/PS3 game and it doesnt suck.
A port of what some peope call the best game ever.(not me.)
Cant think of the other ones.

Only 4 times, even though the Blazblue one is technically a port it's still a new game anyways. So that's 4 out of 13. What's your point?

Pilotwings could be seen as a port two. Given that if wii sports resort had been on xbox/PS3, it would have just been DLC for the flight mode. Still great though. (but horribly short.)

Also, you forgot the saints row game, although I haven't seen anything on that since the logo at E3.

Wait ... what? How can it be a port and a new game at the same time?
  • edited May 2011
I suppose you could port a game engine over and then use that engine in making a new game and it would be both

In that it most likely started as a PSP game, but with the 3DS announcement they decided to port that for some easy money and release both at the same time. The "new game" part is because that'd be the first release of the game outside of arcades. So yeah, arcade->PSP->3DS but is should still be awesome.

Reminds me of Twilight Princess. Nintendo delayed release of the GameCube version for over a year just so that they could have it as an "exclusive" launch title for the Wii. That was a pretty dirty move, imo.

Meh, could have been worse. They could have delayed OoT to be a 3DS launch title! :p

I was actually pretty fine with it being delayed until then (TP). It made the wii actually worth getting, and meant I could save up more money to buy things.

Yeah, kinda like that, but without the delay part.

After having an extremely dull day wandering around shops with a bride to be looking for shoes for a wedding, and a mother of the groom running about trying on goodness knows how many dresses, I finally caved and bought a 3DS to break the boredom. Now I've just got to wait for a game I actually want to be released. Might take a while.

So you bought a console, but no games? At least it has a decent chunk of featurse built in. That and its backwards compatable.

By the time that happens, the 3DSi Lite SP XL Slim will be out for $50 less than what you paid.

Yeah. That or a better offer bundled with the games I want will come along. I wanted one though. Tried to resist, but failed. Badly.

I'm wondering how long those features will keep me occupied, but I can wait for a game. I have Okamiden to complete and recently picked up the Last Window. I... er... won't be playing those on my 3DS though. I flat out refuse to part with my beloved DSi so I'll just keep playing on that one. :p

It'll have a big shell you can slide the lite one inside of that transforms it into an XL.

On trying to exchange Miis with strangers on the street and getting excited when he saw a group of school kids:

"Effing Jackpot!" followed closely by the thoughts "What the hell is wrong with me? I'm a grown man getting excited by the presence of school children because I'm a grown man who's going to leave a lot of deposits in their bum bags and trouser pockets."

I've said before I don't like Yahtzee that much but this is hilarious. On that note, how well does the street pass work?

Street Pass works perfectly fine, it would be nice if more people used it though, because I rarely hit people in the steets, but usually if I walk around the city I get at least one hit, which is fine. Makes it more special. I assume that with the eShop update and the release of OoT3D more 3DSes will sell and more street pass hits will happen, so, looking forward.

    Yahtzee's 3DS Review

    What's next? Ping Pong 3d? :/
  • edited May 2011
Streetpass has worked fine for me. I've only had one hit so far on my way to work, but it was fun to finally have one! Now if only more people would take their 3DS's out for walks. Does anyone know what sort of radius the streetpass will connect in? I've been leaving the 3DS in my bag out back whilst I work in the shop in the hopes that it'll connect to customers browsing in the shop.

I street passed someone else the other day, bringing my total to 4 (including a friend and my sister). That's with me taking it to college most days (though the battery has a habit of dying after a couple of days in sleep mode.).

Oh yes, Apparently UK peeps get a free A2 poster and a golden cardboard sleeve for Zelda OoT if we preorder from Game/Gamestation.
  • edited May 2011
I've heard the range for StreetPass is about 100 feet.

My University campus is pretty damn big and I usually get one or two hits when I go in. Mostly the same people though. I reckon we'll see a decent increase in 3DS users after OoT: 3D is released.
  • edited May 2011
One tip for getting streetpasses that has worked for me. ALWAYS take your 3DS to the movie theater, specially to the big blockbuster summer movies.

It's worked 2 out of 2 times for me =D

It might help if anyone actually owned a 3DS.

I'm taking mine to Pax this year. Hopefully there will be a line similar to what a star wars premiere would be. :D
