    Heh...

"Darn it, I got Colin Baker!"

Also: The Series 6 Part One Things nearly match the R1 Covers for the Classic series on the spine, but with the New Who logo. As a fan of consistency, yesh.

Now they just need to rotate the Series Six Part One 90 degrees....
I should have mentioned the R1 cover. We still don't know what the R2 spine is like.

    Wait a second...
    That Boxset says 'Season' Six...
    *screams in terror*

Wow... that's actually not a bad cover, Americanism's aside. Here's what we get. Note the top of the box and what we seem to be missing...

In other news, they're not going to finish the fifth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. The Sun had an article saying they would, but the BBC Press Office issued a statement saying they wouldn't film any more episodes, but they would air the 6 that had already been filmed.

And... prequel to the next episode!

    Aah, kill it with fire!

Well, i'm glad to see they're only releasing two volumes this year. Still, I only buy the boxsets (and the limited edition ones at that. Giant cybermasks FTW.) Here's hoping we get something equally as awesome this year. Probably not, as they seem to be cutting corners now (they dropped the snazzy artwork from series 5 and reduced the inside to just those rubbish plastic discholders.). I still think that the series 5 limited edition should have been the pandorica, just like series 1 was the Tardis. Instead of what we ended up getting.

I do hope that giant rectangle with the Doctor and the blurb was a sticker. If not, then they ruined a perfectly good cover.

It was indeed just a sticker. Now, if only the blu-ray logo was too.

I think I'll nab both volumes on DVD to match my collection of Classic Who on DVD with it's nice spine, and the the full set on Blu.

You could always just print of some fan made covers. There's plenty floating around, mostly in the old R2 style. Lemme dig up some links...

EDIT: Okay, here's a few from the DVD Covers thread at the Gallifrey Base forums. I grabbed these due to them being a variety of different templates, but there's literally hundreds more. (Admittedly most of them are the old-school R2 style, but...)

    WARNING! LOTS OF IMAGES AHEAD!

You see, but we don't get the neat Part X releases until this year, meaning I'd need to find some magic way to put a new cover on a box set.
Also, Custom Covers are expensive to buy paper for, because I would totally do so for certain thi-*cough*Inferno*cough*-ngs.

Seriously: Region One v Region Two:

I've just discovered dome of the classic doctor who covers are reversible over here!

Although, the only difference is the BBC logo.
  • edited May 2011
Hey, I made some covers a while back!

Click Because Huge: Amy's Choice, The Pandorica Opens (Don't blame me for River's hair being uncooperative towards Magnetic Lassos)

But some are cool. I looked up a bit a while back, but to be honest there's very little I can do to make new series DVDs as I see no reason to purchase the actual DVD when it's on Netflix for at least another 8 months.

Also: The first Tom Baker Fourth Doctor Adventure is called 'Energy of the Daleks' and features Daleks on the moon. There's a trailer for it in the most recent BF podcast.

    Heh, I suck at photoshop.

Also, anyone else find it a little odd that what seems like the darkest/most mature series so far (
there is what appears to be blood on the walls in episode 2, more innuendo's, more deaths etc.
) is on earlier than before? I miss 7pm being doctor who time. :(

This weeks is at 6:15, then the Gaiman is at 6:40 (and runs for 50 minutes), so it appears it's slowly moving back to it's proper time slot.

However, one has to wonder why on earth they thought changing what time it is on every week was a good idea.

I Sky+ it, and tend to watch it around 7:30, maybe 8 that evening, once all the football's out of the way. Wonder why the Beeb don't do that.

I just found in my back room Doctor Who Autographs I got from Selvester McCoy and Colin Baker at Collectormania.

The fact you can't see McCoy's face made me think for a moment you got him to sign a picture of Colin, which would be a even cooler possesion.

I should have got him to sign this.

    I don't think the BBC *have* Sky+.:D

(All joking aside, I think they think that much later in the evening would be unsuitably late for a "family" show)

True, but that never stopped it being 7pm before.

Hey, anyone else in the UK get your free 11th Doctor Minifigure? I have to say, he's absurdly cute for what is basically a poor man's Lego.

Character Doctor Who video game please! :p

Nah, I couldn't be bothered going downtown. Besides, then i'd have to complete the collection!

Oh yeah, there was a section on daleks in BBC click's (UK tech news thing on the BBC news channel) webscape(sites of interest) today, which was nice.

So I finished off purhcasing my first mini-season of Eighth Doctor stuff, and I'll hold off on more of that until Big Finish Day next month as there's a good chance we'll get 1-50 for $5 again.

So, I've shifted my focus to the Companion Chronicles as they don't seem to be on sale very often. 'The Glorius Revolution' is a Jamie/2nd Doctor one and for some reason is only 5 your currencies, and I reccomend it if you want to test the waters of the CCs. I, for one, greatly enjoyed it, and will start picking up more of them (mostly third doctor) soon.

Also, Doctor Who's timeslot starting next week for the duration of the half-season is at 6:30 in the UK.

Also, better news: High-up guy at the Beeb says he wants bigger orders for Seasons of Hit Shows, and provided examples including Doctor Who.

ALSO yet again: Buy an authentic 11 Tweed Jacket circa Series Six!

Hmm... Moffat will be quite worked out, given that Sherlock is pretty popular too.

Hmm. Didn't really enjoy this episode that much. I can't think of anything particularly wrong with it, but is just was a bit...boring. Didn't watch the preview for the next episode, but I think it's going to be the Neil Gaiman-one, so hopefully it will be a bit more interesting. I really enjoyed the first two episodes this season, but this one just wasn't nearly as much fun.

Fans of Classic Doctor Who, are those
    dead aliens on the ship
based a familiar enemy, or just random creepy guys?
  • edited May 2011
I didn't recognise them, but then I'm not the biggest fan of the old series.
Probably just random creepy guys though, given they're from a parallel dimension.

I can see what you mean about the episode. The first half was quite fun, then it all just... lost its sparkle. I think it would have worked better as a pure historical, since the
    alien ship reveal
just seemed a bit standard by this point. They've done it an awful lot in Nu-Who, and it's getting old.

And will they stop teasing us about
    Amy's possible pregnancy?
Surely it can't take that long to figure it out!

    I herd the
Baby both exits and doesnt exist at the same time which is why the TARDIS goes nuts trying to work out if shes pregnant
    .
  • edited May 2011
    Also, Rory
must have set some sort of record. How many times can that guy die?

That was probably my least favorite thing about the episode. There are more ways to get the audience to care about a character, this just keeps looking more and more like a cheap trick every time they do it.

But hey, at least we got the bad episode out of the way. My expectations are a lot higher for the rest of the season.
  • edited May 2011
    The next episode has the
    scary "fear me" voice!
  • edited May 2011
    Agreed with tjibbbe. I thought
    in the first episode
    that the only real
    sucky
    bit was when
    the doctor "died"
. We pretty much know now that
    whenever someone dies
    it doesn't actually
    mean they're dead
    so they shouldn't bother.
  • edited May 2011
I actually found the episode quite enjoyable. Even though part of the plot twist was predictable
The moment the TARDIS vanished, I figured that they'd all decide to be "killed". And yeah, stop killing the cast already!
it was still pretty decent. And actually a pretty good starter episode if you're new to the series. Pretty much what the show is about:
a mixture of history and sci-fi

Next weeks looks pretty awesome too.
  • edited May 2011
Oh lord, there's a lot of
    spoilers
in this thread at the moment!

And if this was the 'bad' episode, I can't wait to see the 'good' ones!

Do they get rid of that annoying recap of why Amy is with the Doctor after the third episode?

It's only for international people, and no, they won't.
