Hmm. You're probably right with Barrowman. No-one else they can really go with, is there?
Also slightly curious about Tennant's Doctor. Freema maybe? Possibly Catherine?
Well, if they didn't get Tennant...
They usually record these six months or so in advance, and both Freema and Catherine Tate have roles in shwos over here until filming wraps up in abouts May. Barrowman, in contrast, only has a recurring role in Arrow (as does Alex Kingston, it may be worth mentioning). Freema's said she's not doing any acting things for the 50th too. I'd say most likely scenario is Tennant doing it for his release, with second most likely being Noel Clarke (given he actually was a companion in that time).
So you're thinking Barrowman for 9 and Tennant himself for 10? Sounds good!
Yup. I wouldn't be shocked at all if that's what happened. Tennant's name being on one will likely sell well enough to justify the entire rest of the series, to be frank. I'd not be shocked if it sells okay, but sales spike towards the end as things get more and more clearly new-Who (though the Troughton one's about Evil shadows and they don't even mention the Vashta Nerada once, for shame!). Which is good, as hopefully they'll be able to greenlight some sort of ongoing collaboration between AudioGo and Big Finish to do more NuWho stories in the coming years.
I do hope they're taking the oppurtunity to do one Classic Who story with the Weeping Angels, mainly as I think they'd be brilliant on Audio. I do wish it was the Troughton one which it clearly isn't and all, as it'd be so keeping in his era to have men made of stone holding a base under siege.
They've now announced the Second of the eBook authors - it's none other than beloved former manager of Dunder Mifflin Michael Scott! You can read a preview of the story here. It's a charming little tale for the kids where Jamie accidentally unleashes the powers of the Necronomicon.
They've announced the approximate DVD release schedule for this year, and most exciting is that Scream of the Shalka, the first Ninth Doctor story, will be released as part of the classic line in September!
The latter. Scream of the Shalka was a webanimation originally intended to be the future of the series before RTD screwed that up by bringing back the TV series and making Richard E Grant's Doctor non-canon.

My intent was actually that it's the first story featuring the Ninth Doctor, not that it has the first Ninth Doctor (who we all know is Rowan Atkinson)
Also, fun-fact; Richard E. Grant's Doctor Who is exactly as canon as Rowan Atkinson's, Tom Baker's, and David Tennant's
Ooh, apparently Big Finish are announcing a range this Wednesday called "the Early Years"
This is now officially possibly-bad news. On the one hand, they are starting "Lost Stories"-format adventures - full-cast, but with a bit of narration as some actors are no longer with us - but on the other, it's the end of the Companion Chronicles.
(speculation now rife that they'll just go the whole hog and recast the first two Doctors. And whither the UNIT Family?)
I think that if they recast the first three doctors for the TV anniversary, Big finish would probably find it apt to use them too. And seeing as the first doctor has already been recast for the DOCu-drama (geddit?) I think it's a possibility.

Yes, I'm taking it as bad news they've decided instead of two seperate ranges covering 8 doctors with ~16 releases a year total they've decided one range with four releases a year is an acceptable replacement.
The Companion Chronicles are the best range Big Finish produce. As such, it should not end simply because people refuse to accept a full cast can be/is actually a deterrent in some productions with regards to storytelling variety.
Big Finish apparently have a different plan for Doctor Who #3, though - maybe they'll just have The Adventures of UNIT Sans Doctor, featuring older versions of Yates, Benton, and Jo?
I wonder if this is an economic thing. Big Finish seem to be slowly pushing its audience into making lump-sum purchases for box sets, which gives them the money upfront but which involves producing the same amount of material with fewer people.
In other news, somebody complained to the Beeb about the lack of "Doctor Who" this year -
There's already a conspiracy theory that the reason that focus of the final T-Shirt has not yet been revealed is because there will be a new Doctor by December....*
* if true, this is a bit of an own-goal on the part of the people who sign off on the merchandising....

To add fuel to the fire, wasn't Matt's original contract only for three series? Maybe that's the reason for the split series and lengthy gaps- so his doctor lasts until the anniversary.
Also, the dark bunny tees are awesome. I love the ones from Series 7A from the BBC shop.
Also, fun-fact; Richard E. Grant's Doctor Who is exactly as canon as Rowan Atkinson's, Tom Baker's, and David Tennant's
Canon is a silly concept anyway. The only legitimate reason to try to keep some kind of canon is to keep continuity errors from happening, and in a show where the main character travels through time and space, it's really simple to come up with logical in-universe reasons for any perceived contradiction.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... maybe we'll be spared, perhaps that thing above his head will fall down and knock 'em both out?
That "thing above his head" would be a support beam for the ceiling. It is unlikely to fall. Also, it's quite a distance back from where he's standing.

No, you're not thinking fourth-dimensionally! It's dimensionally transcendantal.
I'm assuming it will be a simulcast rather than the actual broadcast. We have 3D stations here on our digital cable system. They play the 3D version and the high definition (and sometimes standard definition) broadcast are simulcast on an other channel(s).
Whereas those of us who aren't wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice will have to bowl down to the nearest cinema, if the Grauniad and Bleeding Cool can be trusted, if we want that extra dimension.

Well, I find it exciting.
Do you mean the first "Ninth Doctor" story, or the "first Ninth Doctor " story? (Because if the latter, they did do a short story or two as well).
Disappointing that "The Ice Warriors" isn't getting a new reconstruction.

So, now it's official. If we don't get some proper celebrations we can complain about the Complaints department!
They might have been reading your posts in the "last thing you purchased" thread.

Oh, if only I hadn't spent so much money on random XBox games...
Also, the dark bunny tees are awesome. I love the ones from Series 7A from the BBC shop.
Exciting. I really want to see Captain Jack interact with the 11th doctor.

Not against all possibility - a warehouse full of novelisations was found about ten years ago, and they flooded all the remaindered bookshops.
(Now, if somebody would just find a warehouse of the Virgin novels, and flog me the rare ones for peanuts....)
#1) The picture of Barrowman and whatshername's nothing to do with "DOctor Who", she's appearing his other TV show (no, not "Torchwood" either)
#2) http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/02/11/sfx-exclusive-official-ice-warriors-return-to-doctor-who-this-year/
Hence why it was hash tagged Arrow... was sort of obvious?
Well, obviously, if you're going to go around *reading* things...
Oh, look, here's something to read -
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/02/11/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-special-will-be-in-3d/
(Great. Who's gonna be able to watch that, then?)
Fixed.
