    One. Next question?

    Today's Daily Deal is Victoria II. £5.09 / $6.79.

Also, the Weekend Deal is 66% of all Warhammer 40,000 titles. Quite a few there! Here's the list.

Dawn of War (Gold - includes original game + Winter Assault) - £3.39 / $6.79
    Dawn of War: Dark Crusade - £3.39 / $6.79
    Dawn of War: Soulstorm - £3.39 / $6.79
Dawn of War II - 6.79, whatever your currency (grr)
Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising - 6.79, whatever your currency (grr)
Dawn of War II: Retribution - 10.19, whatever your currency (grr)
Space Marine - £10.19 / $16.99 (so you'd be better off getting it on GreenManGaming if you're in the US)

    One. Next question?

To be fair, you can get two cups of bad coffee.

No, only one. We are both talking about Starbucks, right?

    Today's Daily Deal is Section 8: Prejudice. £3.39 / $5.09

The various Sierra Quest game packs are all half-off this weekend at GOG.

    PQ 2 & 3 are fantastic.

Is King's Quest 8 worth it?

I got 1-7 already from that Telltale bundle a while back, and I haven't got 8.

Hmmm. I don't know? I remember TB is trying to revive the community and has 2 servers, but... is the community still alive?

King's Quest 8 does not exist. The Mask of Eternity is an illegitimate bastard of a video game. Unless you want to buy a game that will make you want a handgun for dinner, I say no.
  • edited February 2012
I can neither confirm nor deny from first-hand experience that Mask of Eternity is a festering pile of suck, but I do heartily agree that it is not KQ8. It is merely KQ:MoE; a vaguely King's Quest-associated spin-off that warrants being overlooked/ignored when considering the series.
  • edited February 2012
Heh. My suspicions were confirmed then. I'll stick with 1-7.
(I have all the other quest stuff you see)

Anyway, a quick heads up here, but some SquareEnix (Eidos) stuff is on sale at the moment at GetGames.

£1.49 for each Hitman game, Project Snowblind, and Rogue Trooper are too good to miss out on.
    (For me at least! :D)

    Here's the full list:

    Battlestations Midway: £2.49
    Battlestations Pacific: £2.49
    Conflict: Denied Ops: £3.75
    Deus Ex: £1.49
    Deus Ex Invisible War: £1.49
    Dungeon Seige 3 Bundle: £9.48
    Dungeon Seige 3: £7.99
Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun DLC: £1.99
    Hitman Codename 47: £1.49
    Hitman 2: Silent Assassin: £1.49
    Hitman: Blood Money: £1.49
    Infernal: £1.49
    Just Cause: £2.25
    Just Cause 2: £4.99

I've been waiting for a cheap JC2 now that I'm getting a new computer soon, so yay.

Just a note: The prices aren't converted(Just Cause 2 is $5 USD), and you apparently can't use Paypal for these games.

I've gone and highlighted the ones that require Steam. Also important to note that Just Cause 2 needs DirectX 10, so if you're still using WinXP, you cannot play it.

Also, yes - there is no price conversion, so if something's listed as $5, it'll also be £5. Which is complete and utter bullshit and GetGamesGo needs some serious slapping across the face for it.

Finally, RetroVortex can't seem to spell the word 'Siege'. Minor nitpick through!

    -x-

GreenManGaming has some decent offers as well. Both Dead Spaces, Dragon Age: Origins (plus the Ultimate Edition, which is the one I'd recommend since it's around the same price!) and the first 2 Mass Effects are all half price, though none of them use Steam. In fact, Dragon Age uses Origin, so bear that in mind.

Other offers include Command & Conquer 4 (ugh), Medal of Honor (again, ugh) and a plethora of Sims stuff (gah!). So I don't really know why I mentioned them, really.

I liked MOE. If you like stuff like Tomb Raider, give it a go. There's a new patch/installer at the Sierra Help Pages that gets rid of the insane loading times.
  • edited February 2012
I think you'll find you're in the minority with that opinion, but that's entirely your opinion. If you enjoy it, then great. Roberta Williams can sleep happy tonight.

    Today's Daily Deal is Colin McRae DiRT 2. £3.74 / $4.99

    fixed that for you.

It may or may not suck as its own game, but it's still a spin-off of the core series. There are just too many dissimilar aspects compared to the other games for MoE to be considered a core title.
  • edited February 2012
To that I say "so what". Like I said, if he enjoys games like Tomb Raider then give it a go. You can't just ignore the possible merit of a game just because it isn't like the others in the series. It's far removed enough to stand on its own anyway. It's not like it's a horrible sequel like KQ7 which uses the core characters and butchers them and the universe.

Simply put, no it's not like the old King's Quests in ANY way at all, but you don't ignore it and write it off based solely on that.
  • edited February 2012
No, I ignore it when making direct comparisons between KQ adventure games and/or Sierra adventure games and/or adventure games in general.

    Today's Daily Deal is Shatter, a pretty awesome brick-breaking game. £2.37 / $3.39

Today's Daily Deal is Sanctum. Chances are you already own it, but if not, it's £2.37 / $3.39.

It's also worth noting that although the DLC is not on offer, the pack with the original game and a bunch of DLC is. Which is slightly annoying for those who already own it and were hoping to snag some cheap add-ons. :(

Sorry 'bout the delay. PC was being all freezy.

    Today's Daily Deal is 4 Elements. $2.49.

Also, the Midweek Madness is the Elder Scrolls series. All 66% off, except Skyrim, which is down by a third. Also, there's a free Hi-Res Texture Pack for Skyrim currently out, so go grab it if your PC is beefy enough.

You can do that for a mod? I would post that on the steam workshop, there are a lot of people that would want that.

Meanwhile "Go cast your fancy magic someplace else" shall be gone for me.

The Simpsons Arcade is 100% free to Playstation Plus users. FREE.

    So is Final Fantasy V.
  • edited February 2012
True, but that was already free from last week. As were the Genesis games they released a while back (Sonic 1-3, Golden Axe, Comix Zone and Altered Beast). But I don't really care about those.

The Simpsons Arcade is not only new today (OK, Wednesday, but today for Europeans) but it's freakin' awesome. If you've never played it, do so NOW.

Today's Daily Deal is RAGE. 14.99, whatever your currency (grr).

    Steam weekend deals:
    Plants vs. Zombies $2.00 / £ 1.40 / 80%-off
    Stronghold 3 $24.99 / £ 14.99 / 50%-off
  • edited February 2012
Cool. Don't have to worry 'bout them now! Cheers for that.

Today's Daily Deal is the Star Wars: Jedi Knight Collection. £3.74 / $4.99 for five complete games. Awesome.
  • edited February 2012
Not only is the collection 75% off, but the individual games are, too. The pack saves you $3.21 if you are buying them all, though if you don't want them all you can spend a bit less.
  • edited February 2012
You might as well get the whole pack at that price though. That'd be a dollar a game. Sweet.
  • edited February 2012
I'd get it but I already own them all on CD. That never stopped me getting the Elder Scrolls games on Steam, though.

EDIT: Dang it I'm so weak! Curse you, Steam sales!
  • edited February 2012
Hey, you're not alone in doing that. I've done it far too many times to count.
