I did not ask for the game because I could not think of a better reason than Marsden's.
  • edited January 2012
I meant to ask for it but didn't because Friday was my sister's birthday and I was busy.
  • edited January 2012
Well, maybe if I'm generous I might gift it more next month. That's how much I love the series.

However, Dave Gilbert is also doing a giveaway over on Twitter and Facebook this week. On twitter you can follow @WadjetEyeGames, not sure about Facebook though.

Just enough time to stop video editing and do this.

Today's Daily Deal is The Tiny Bang Story. £1.74 / $2.49.
  • edited January 2012
Oh man, that's... inconvenient. The Tiny Bang Story was one of the few games I wanted to buy for myself, but I don't have the money for that game at the moment, I think.

Well, attempting to snag Deception during the Twitter giveaway today didn't work out for me. =P

Its 40 minutes of him figuring out what he did wrong, but it still shows what the game is.

Hey, tell you what, Rather, if you haven't gotten the game by the end of the month the game's on me. That's when I get some small cash again.

Today's Daily Deal is the Painkiller Complete Pack. £4.49 / $4.99. If you're a moron.

On its own, Painkiller: Black Edition is £2.24 / $2.49, and well worth getting. The others... are not.

I chose to completely ignore your advice and buy the complete pack.
They all look good so taking advantage of this deal can't possibly backfire.

    Well, don't say I didn't warn you.

    Today's Daily Deal is Solar 2. £3.49 / $4.99

Also, the Midweek Madness offer is Flatout. £11.89 / $13.59

Today's Daily Deal is Ship Simulator Extremes. Christ, what's the point of reducing the price of something nobody's going to buy anyway? Whatever, it's £4.99 / $7.49.
  • edited January 2012
If you're going to lower the price of that game, you might as well give a 75% permanent price drop on top of the 75% discount.

Although, worst part is, 550k copies have already been sold. Given, it's probably over the entire series overall, but still.

Also, how the hell can this game come on Steam with probably relative ease while games like The Book of Unwritten Tales get the shaft?

    EDIT:

Awesome, I didn't know Sonic CD was on the Steam store.

Anyway, the weekend deal is 40%-75% off on select Sonic titles.

    EDIT2:

Okay, so Sonic CD has been released just today.
  • edited January 2012
Today's Daily Deal is... Medal of Honor? Wow, that was quick. 4.99, whatever currency you use, which is irritating, since if it were properly converted to around £3.49, I'd have bought it. Oh well!

And, as Gary pointed out, the weekend deal is the Sonic franchise. Various offers. Here's the list:

    Sonic the Hedgehog - £1.99 / $2.49
    Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - £1.99 / $2.49
    Sonic 3 & Knuckles - £1.99 / $2.49
    Sonic 3D Blast - £1.99 / $2.49
    Sonic Spinball - £1.99 / $2.49
    Sonic CD - £3.99 / $4.99
    Sonic Adventure DX - £2.99 / $4.49
    Sonic 4: Episode 1 - £5.99 / $9.99 (that doesn't seem right)
    Sonic Generations - £9.99 / $14.99

    Sega All-Star Racing (with Sonic) - £3.74 / $4.99

...oh, and also, Sonic Generations has DLC out. It's the Casino Night level from Sonic 2. It's not on offer, hence me not putting it in the list, but if the Nostalgia Goggles are too hard to get off, it's a mere 99p / $1.59.

Anyway, I'll be waiting until I have enough money for Sonic CD. Never played it, but heard good things about it.
  • edited January 2012
Play with the Jap soundtrack. It's better. US soundtrack isn't too bad, but the Jap one feels more like Sonic.
  • edited January 2012
And you get a spiral knights costume of metal sonic?
Would be cool, but those things link to the armor, so you upgrade to better armor and you lose it.

So yeah sonic CD, I assume this game is pretty good?
  • edited January 2012
I'm not a fan, but I gather it's one of the most fondly remembered 2D Sonics, so yeah, I think so.

You can get around that by sticking the pretty armor in the cosmetic slot. (Like in Terraria.)

It's not uncommon for people to say it's the best 2D Sonic game, and there's a lot you could say in its favor from a relatively "objective" point of view. I'd say go for it if you like Sonic 1-3.

Well that would be good enough for me since I quite enjoyed the third one along with Sonic and Knuckles.

Speaking of which, I own Sonic 1 twice(bought on XBLA and now have it on Sonic Generations) and have yet to play it.

I'm going to be honest here. I disliked Sonic CD. Just to play it as a high-speed platformer, it wasn't bad. But the time travel mechanic was so difficult to activate, I found it pretty much impossible to get any kind of a good ending.
  • edited January 2012
Yeah Ive been hearing some mixed reviews of it.
For $5 and me not hating a sonic game yet(NOTE: I have never played Labyrinth nor have I played enough of '06 to get a good opinion of it.).
EDIT: Dear lord is the game loud.
  • edited January 2012
Sonic CD is both different from the other early platformers and yet it's also the one that most closely resembles it far more than any Sonic game since then. I never actually beat it, but I did start playing through it and enjoyed it. Can't remember why I stopped actually...probably just time. I'm going to pick it up eventually. Good to finally see both soundtracks in this version. Every re-release had always been favoring the US soundtrack.

yeah I see it now, but... Why even allow it to fuse armor in the first place?
EDIT:So Sonic CD. It is a good game so Im glad I bought it, but the whole time travel stuff confuses me. Its a pain to do and to me not getting the "good" future counts as losing for these types of games. Causing me to ragequit out of the level for just completing it.

Today's Daily Deal is Demolition Inc., which is £3.99 / $4.99.

I want Sonic Generations. I want it a lot. But my credit card doesn't work. Plus the ratio of USD prices in my country has gotten quite bizarre.

I'm trying to trade a game and some TF2 items in some TF2 forums in hopes for getting one to no avail though. I guess I'll have to let this one slide as well =<

I got that during the holiday sale (because it had a gift bag achievement). It's basically a puzzle game wherein you are an alien tasked with destroying man-made structures.

    It's pretty fun, actually.

And I think TotalBiscuit provided a review of it as well.

I just bought Sonic CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and I have to say Sonic CD is a lot more frustrating then I remember it being when I played it as a part of the Sonic Gems Collection when I was little but then again playing a platformer with a keyboard isn't exactly ideal not to mention it has a rather odd control setup and it can't be remapped.
  • edited January 2012
Can you not use a gamepad? That's sorta how it should be played anyway.
  • edited January 2012
On a totally kinda-unrelated semi-related note, after buying and playing Blackwell series on steam, I think that every adventure gamer should try it out :)

You can play it with a gamepad thankfully.
PC controls on a platformer are almost never good.

My Xbox 360 gamepad that I used for Pc gaming got it's wire eaten by one of my dogs a while back and I just haven't thought to replace it,maybe I'll do that today.
