Things I want in an Indiana Jones game:
A combat system like the button tapping thing in The Walking Dead.
Puzzles almost as hard as the ones in Sam & Max.
A separate button that lets Indy use the whip.
Action sequences that involves use of the gun.
Classic adventure game feeling.
A stealth mission (where Indy where’s an enemy uniform)
Puzzles involving the environment, such as escaping from traps, avoiding activating them, opening blocked doors.
Puzzles involving people, like gaining information, gaining trust, learning more about an environmental puzzle.
Classic Indy feeling, like being able to run away from a sprung trap, or escaping from soldiers or island natives.
A less annoying love interest. Quit hating on Temple, people!
Hi all,
It just ocurred to me that Telltale has turned a notable amount of cult classic movies into adventure games (Back to the Future, Jurrassic Park, etc...), so I was thinking how great it would be if the Alien franchise could be used for an adventure game.
H.R Giger's aliens has been used on many occasions for action games, but never for graphic adventures to my knowledge (with the exception of Dark Seed I and II in the 1990s, and that was mostly Giger stuff but not really Alien related).
Just a thought... I'd love to hear other people's opinions on the subject!
no no no no no. Sorry TTG, but do NOT touch this franchise. I doubt they could get licensing anyway as they seem content sticking to FPS games. Only way it could somewhat work would be if it went back to the suspense/horror aspects and had the creatures as background characters of accomplishing another goal...which they wouldn't do as they are so popular. Blah. No. Just no.
Well I think the point is that the original Ridley Scott Alien movie isn't an action flick, but rather a strong story driven sci-fi movie with a brilliant plot and original idea.
That's why I think it would be prime quality material for an adventure game writer/designer. Ridley Scott's alien (and the best of the franchise in my opinion) wasn't about randomly shooting aliens, it was about telling a fascinating yet disturbing story.
I think if they managed to do Jurassic Park, Telltale could also do Aliens (which in my opinion is a much better movie and could result in a great adventure game).
You'll find on this forum.... that they didn't manage to do Jurassic Park. Anyway, I'm not a fan of FPS but that seems the way they want to go. It could be an atmospheric story driven adventure game, but it wouldn't be.
The Thing. Challenges a player’s trust of a character and resourcefulness. Also challenges players on leading a group of terrified people who don’t trust anybody in the group. Any member of the group could be a shape-shifting alien.
A Cthulhu Mythos game that takes place in a later time period than the original stories, say, the '50s or perhaps even the '70s.
Or, a Cthulhu Mythos game series taking place in several time periods, starting with the '30s, all in black-white (or perhaps sephia), and having a monochrome sound. Then, in the '50s, it shows everything with a somewhat correct coloring, but not quite (the practice of coloring black-white footage). This is still the era with monochrome sound.
We then go to the '70s, where we now have stereo sound and full color. However, like the previous two eras, it does have a grain filter over it, although the grain is significantly less than in the previous eras. Also, sound quality isn't optimal.
Then, we skip to the '90s. No grain filter, audio is almost perfect, stuck in 44100 Hz, and stereo only. Colors are brighter, to represent the fact that it was a sort of brighter era (Baywatch, various summer hits having music videos with similar styles, the Will Smith era, you know, all those typical stuff).
Finally, it's 2010. Everything is dark again, because real is brown. Audio is now 5:1, perhaps even upped at 48000 Hz or whatever is popular nowadays. Perhaps have some bloom filters, as it's typical of realistic games.
And, all throughout the entire series, anything supernatural will look out of place. In the '30s, the creatures seen will have a color tint that really looks weird, like, a bit of green, or a bit of blue. The '50s will have the sounds of the creatures be in stereo instead of mono. I don't know what would make the '70s creatures out of place, perhaps make its sounds better quality, while the grainy filter temporarily disappears. Then the '90s has the monsters scream in 5:1, and finally, 2010 will have some other things I can't think of.
After seeing how dark Telltale are prepared to go with The Walking Dead, a game set in the setting of Game of Thrones, or Warhammer, would be pretty amazing.
Anyone but me Think Buffy the vampire slayer would make a good episodic game? Been watching through the series lately and thought it would be neat to see.
A Cthulhu Mythos game would be fantastic. I think it's in the public domain too so that would make things alot easier on the licensing department. I think this is the one that would be best suited to the Telltale format
Perhaps an adventure game involving a main character in Organized Crime. The mafia or some other sort of organized crime group. I don't think that genre has really been done in the realm of graphic adventure games.
And in terms of licensed worlds, I think a Dragonriders of Pern game would be brilliant. It's sort of out of fashion at the moment. But a movie are series has been reported to be in the works. TTG could hop on it before it blows up
I was just watching the brand new series of Doctor Who in the UK.
And an idea sparked into my mind...
Is it just me or should Telltale Games should make and develop a game for Doctor Who? I know there are some, but some just find it... undesirable.
So, just a thought, do you think it should happen?
It seems to be the most common request around these parts (and rightly so!). From the various videos that have been posted of the Telltale offices, a decent proportion of the staff are fans (with various memorabillia on their desks). But I think there's a whole host of issues. Like getting/paying for Matt & co to jet over to the U.S. to record their lines. And I don't think BBC worldwide is particularly enthusiastic about trusting the license to a foreign business, who won't have grown up with it as UK game studios have. They do have Wallace & Gromit in their favour though. Pure speculation, but that's what I think will hold them back. Plus they've got several games on the horizon still (Kings Quest was one, i'm sure there was another.)

It doesn't have to be Matt, Karen and Arthur to do the voices. Check out The Walking Dead. Original story, new characters, going very well. And Doctor Who got a bunch of writers to make the stories, so maybe that could work?
...But then again, Matt is a very good Doctor... so we would need him.
I can't be the only one who's thought this, but I signed up to say it.
Telltale's JAWS
Imagine it. Being stranded in the middle of the ocean in the Orca, or something similar, with a shark fin circling you, tensions running high with your crew, urging the mayor to shut the beaches down, etc.
Maybe it's just because JAWS is my favorite film, but I think this'd be fantastic.

This has already been discussed. Telltale is obviously buddies with Universal Studios, so I could imagine that they could get the rights.
But in any case, it's time Telltale hopped into other genre boats to regain a real feeling of interactivity in their games. The RPG, the action adventure, anything.
L.A Confidential
Miami Vice
Starsky & Hutch
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Columbo
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
American Vampire
American Horror Story
Any Agatha Christie Novel
Streets of San Francisco
Indiana Jones

It really depends. Do you want individual games based on the movies, rehashes and what-if episodes on the movies, new stories all together, or just another cluster movie/game with all the monsters in it?
I would love to see them all get their own games and use them as almost sequels to show what has happened to them, and have the looks and feel of the classic films. I would love to see them be able to be played in color and black and white and the monsters MUST look like the actors who played them on screen. This is the order I would like to see them released in
1.) Frankenstein
2.) Wolf Man
3.) Dracula
4.) Creature From The Black Lagoon
5.) The Mummy
6.) Invisible Man
7.) Phantom of the Opera
8.) Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
9.) Mole Men

EDIT: Might help if I bothered to read reviews. Oh dear. I'm seeing 2s across the board. Ouch.

Seriously, this could have a lot of potential.
Yeah, but I mean a decent one

The other game you were thinking of was Fables, Friar.
Use of derogatory language aside, you do realise that the show has an existence outside of the tenth Doctor, right?
