BIG BOX, T-SHIRT! I just keep getting more for that $100.
edit: For those of you who haven't yet seen...
• The Collector's Edition will be packaged in a cardboard box reminiscent of the old school games we all know and love. It will be awesome.
• Mr. Schafer himself will be signing all of the Double Fine Adventure books. He'll also gently caress all of their bindings. I mean, if you're into it.
• We've added a fancy new shirt to the $100 tier so you may show the world how amazing you are
I guess i'll open and close the cardbox a couple of times once i'll get it even before looking at the other things, just for this old skool feeling. I'm completely fine with digital stuff but this is something special. Somehow i want something physical from the adventures i really love.
Oh, i'll stare at the cover, the front, the back, open it, look at all the things in there, close it, hug it, look at the cover again, maybe give it a kiss, close my eyes and fall backwards into my bed (hopefully), heave a sigh, open my eyes again, look at... *bouncing around*
What is up with people's reading comprehension...?
I thought this was fairly clear, discussing the idea of people pledging large amounts of money and then dropping out at the last minute. Maybe "cheating" isn't the right word but it does seem like if a large number of people felt motivated to troll a kickstarter page (and what exactly motivates people to troll is a mystery to me, but it happens) it would be easy for the total to look high at this point and then turn out to be not so high in the end. Seems like it'd be more of an issue with a smaller project, although more publicity does lead to more troublemakers. It will be interesting to see if there's a significant drop at the end of this one.
I think she is in France... or Canada... or now in the US.. I dunno... hard to keep track of that crazy lady.... I do know she would be all for the beefcake in all those Playing Dead videos TTG is putting out lately... I bet its been a while since the TTG offices has had a package arrive with knitted likenesses of their staff.
Lets say someone with 10,000 drops out last minute. Let's even say three or four do so. They still still get a significantly greater sum of money than they had even originally dreamed of getting.

There's been some weird jumps in the total a lot over the past month. But hopefully it will only be three or four people who drop out. I'd love for my fears to be for nothing, because it would be great if Double Fine really did end up with over $2 million at the end.

As of right now it's impossible for three or four to do so, since only two folks are signed up for the $10,000 reward. They could lose $50,000 if ALL of their $5,000 folks dropped out, or $100,000 if ALL of their $1,000 folks dropped out. If EVERYONE $1,000+ is someone ready to "exploit" them(without, um, gaining anything or affecting much of anything or causing any sort of stir whatsoever...), then they'd lose $170,000, a paltry ~6-7% of their total. And that's assuming EVERY ONE is, like, some sort of really ineffectual version of trolling? I have no idea at all what is being said here, but it doesn't seem at all in line with reality. Either way, 170k isn't even close to enough to drop below 2 million, so that fear seems simply ridiculous.
I wonder how the game could be like if it would be ten times more, so instead of 2.6 millions, 26 millions.
It's also fun to imagine how Schafer must feel like if he wouldn't have known about the stats so far and instead when things are over, let's assume this would be by now, reveals the numbers one by one from the right to the left:
*click*
$4 - Hey, that's not bad, i could buy something to eat. *click*
$74 - And take some friends with me. *click*
$374 - Now i could afford inviting Ron as well. *click*
$5374 - Should i really ask him if he wants to go on holiday with us? I guess a postcard will do just fine, let's make it double fine.*click*
$05374 - Okay, zero means that there'll be another digit. Let it be above 3, above 3, 3, psychonauting a higher number! *cliuaörkzrpck*
$605374 - Yooohhhaahooohaaaarrrooooo! Oh my god, we did it! Where do i have to click to end this, i'll have to tell the others, immediately. *click*
$2605374 - Wait, what, there is some more? *fainting*
I upped my pledge $100 too. The game in a big box with the Blu-Ray of the documentary and a poster was too hard to pass up. I have a hard time passing up deluxe editions of adventure games.
@nomecopies
I'm pretty sure this won't happen. But even if it would, then what a ride. You know, the journey is the reward as well. The only element of uncertainty might be the backers. I could see them ranging from being a complete pain in the ass up to providing valuable input but i also expect Schafer being clever and experienced enough to tame and please them at the same time.

You wouldn't get the reward then.

Now I only need to have that amount on my account in 3 days! I'll have to break the pig.
This is a tough decision: Up pledge to $100 or get new glasses?
Pah! Who needs eyesight anyways?
I just hope that the community will be wise enough to let DF do their stuff.
But then again, it's made by Double Fine, so it probably won't be like THAT.

LETS DO THIS DF!!
