Here's hoping it'll pick up at the 11th hour. I hear lots of other nearly-backed projects do.

I hope so, I was starting to get excited about this one. :)
    This too!

Broken Sword pledges have taken a nosedive and were about cut in half every day. But they'll get a million, I'm sure of it.

Project Giana might make it in its last three days. 7.000 to go, it's looking quite well. Want my PayPalPledge in there soon.

I went and got Broken Sword. Never played any of them, it seemed like a good idea.

Project Giana has reached its goal.

PayPal option is up; I will drop them a ($) note as soon as I get home.

I am the lead programmer for an indie game studio, and we just launched our first game on Kickstarter, Deozoa: Legends of Eden. Deozoa is a community driven monster catching tactical RPG. We would love to hear your thoughts.

If you guys hadn't heard, Jack Houston and the Necronauts is having some funding issues after its biggest pledger, who pledged $10,000, fell through and failed to honour his pledge. As a result they're now around $750 short of their goal, and are asking for direct donations through their website.
  • edited August 2012
9 people pledged 1000 dollars. That's crazy. BSword.
  • edited August 2012
    1) Jack Houston has been fully pledged... again.

    2) George has had his art updated... slightly.

Can you see the difference? I can't! (OK, yes, there is a difference, but it's so minute...)

    Shadows.

He's also a bit fairer skinned. Certainly looks better, love the clothing choice through and through!
  • edited August 2012
Oh yeah, that was it. Is his face also a bit rounder, or is that just me seeing things?

It's like one of those old spot-the-difference puzzles but set on a really high difficulty.

His face looks less like a balloon and his lips are less puffy, that's the differences that I can see.

I personally think the new version is fine. What's really important is how it will be animated.

The differences lie in the jaw and the eyes. The "new" jaw is slightly more angled, hence masculine; the upper lids are less strongly defined, hence less feminine; and I even think the eyes themselves are ever so slightly smaller.

A quantum leap in the literal sense: the smallest energy change known to man.

I think the biggest problem for me, looking at those, is that George is supposed to be in his 30s, right? So unless he's gotten botox, his face is way too smooth. If he were in his early 20s, I'd buy it, but...

If not by the end of today, probably by Monday they will have reached their goal. The week end is here.

Ahhhh, forget that. It's logical, and it would have been great if they actually commented on the age of the characters. But I guess that is not in the cards. From the very first picture, Nico and George look unchanged. They're early to mid 20s and will remain so. It might just be too bold to make them end-30 to early 40s.

The VGO (Video Game Orchestra, a Boston-based rock orchestra that is awesome) is looking to Kickstart their way to a proper album release. The CD they sell at PAX is awesome and I'd love to see a full album like this, so I hope this succeeds...

Broken Sword 5 would have reached its primary goal today...

...if some idiot hadn't spontaneously revoked his 10.000 $ pledge minutes before.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to kickstarter.
  • edited September 2012
I backed Broken Sword too. I was gonna do the $25 level, but then decided to go up to the $50 level to get all of their previous games.

Welcome to the human race, more like.

Would be interested to see what stretch goals they'll have. They need to get on that, given how close they are.

I've backed all of the classic adventure game kickstarters so far, but I haven't been able to decide on Broken Sword yet. It's because the first and only BS game I've played was BS2, and it's one of the few adventure games that actually made me rage quit. Only that and Dreamfall has ever made me do that, since I don't mind hard puzzles that might take me days to figure out. It's when I feel cheated by the game somehow that'll happen. I was very close with Goblins 4 on several occasions.

With Dreamfall it was the lame action sequences, and I'd finally had it when I reached that impossible to beat giant in some cave. With BS2 I think it was because of a puzzle or part of the story in a temple that I found beyond stupid, but it's been so long that I don't remember anymore.

Has anyone had similar experiences with BS2 and how are the other games in the franchise compared to it? I've got the complete pack on Steam, and started playing the first game, but I probably won't be able to get a good overview until the end of the campaign.

Homestuck kickstarter for a homestuck adventure game. people are starting kickstarters to try to get the highest reward of getting their fan troll into the game. If this breaks kickstarter ima going to be real maf.

OK. So two big bits, one WAY bigger than the other.

First, Broken Sword made its target, as we knew it would.

Second, Broken Sword has announced its stretch goals. Most are irrelevant, the usual "we'll add more stuff" everyone does, but the big one, the One Million Dollars [/Dr Evil Finger] stretch goal...

    BENEATH A STEEL SKY 2.

Yes, if the $1 Million stretch goal is reached, Revolution Software will greenlight Beneath a Steel Sky 2.

Holy. Fucking. SHIT. If you were ever on the fence about this, BACK IT.
  • edited September 2012
Honestly I'm just hoping for 650,000 . I never played Beneath A Steel Sky all the way through.
  • edited September 2012
Beneath a Steel Sky is awesome. It's one of my all time favorites. Definitely backing this now even though I didn't like all of BS2. I'm liking what I've seen of BS1 so far though.

Broken Sword 2 definitely felt rushed. Broken Sword 1 was brilliant though. :)

I was actually going to start a thread about Broken sword, but I see it's being discussed already. I pledged $100, but thinking of upgrading to $250 (converts to about £150). Oh and I never played Beneath a steel sky. What was that all about?

That has to be remedied immediately. It's free on GOG.com and has aged very well, so there's really no reason not to play it.
  • edited September 2012
And if you don't like GOG.com, you can also download it from the ScummVM site (along with ScummVM itself, which you'll need to play it). Free, completely legal, and worth a look!

Paypal option now available for Broken Sword Kickstarter: http://revolution.co.uk/kickstarter/paypal
  • edited September 2012
Given how Revolution were a British company when they were founded, I'd say it's about bloody time they let Europeans contribute! You'd think they'd have gotten that sorted a bit earlier, but hey ho, better late than never.

The problem is with taking Paypal donations before the Kickstarter goal is achieved. The achieved Kickstarter goal means guaranteed money, but before that is met you can get as little as none of it. Better safe than sorry. Once they have that base, though, Paypal becomes an option for additional monies.
  • edited September 2012
Oh, yeah. Forgot they'd actually hit the target. Fair enough then!

Obsidian's Project Eternity. Brought to you by folks like Chris Avelone, Tim Cane, and Josh Sawyer. I think Rather Dashing is having brain spasms.

Judging by how he sent me 10 messages comprising of nothing more than 'OH MY GOD', I'd say so!

But it's for good reason - a new RPG paying homage to Baldur's Gate, Fallout and Planescape Torment from the people who made Baldur's Gate, Fallout and Planescape Torment. Give them your monies, people. Give it to them.
