    Looks terrible and shitty.

Activision is trying to milk another franchise again.

That's basically what you guys are doing.Just because a game is in first person DOES NOT make it a shooter.Portal,Deus Ex and Skyrim are all FP but they are not shooters.

The game is an FPS actually, that was already confirmed, and why do people not consider Deus Ex a shooter? I know it's more RPG than shooter, but it still is a shooter.

What the hell is wrong with some of you people? That game looks awesome. :D
  • edited January 2013
Yeah... it'll be a shooter, axe or no axe. They're calling it a "survival FPS".

    *super-yawn*

Oh... my... That looks horrible... Im not being funny here.. but I am SHOCKED they even bothered to release that video.. I think its going to lose them sales instead of attract them...

Is my monitor busted, or is that screen tearing in the video?

Hey Graphics aren't all that matter!
    ...
But seriously, those zombies look like they're made of clay, all stiff and shiny. Hopefully the gameplay is much better and they polish some of the graphics up a bit before release.

I‘m surprised they released that trailer, the zombies look horrible, like they‘re made of plastic. Everything looks bad and boring in that trailer, whatever interest I had in that game just died.

And the gameplay doesn‘t even look very engaging or innovative from what they showed us :|

I agree with what you are saying about Graphics. They still have some time, and I want to think that this is Alpha Footage. Honestly, I'll wait and see if gameplay holds up.

im still willing to give it a try but i doubt it'll come anywhere close to being better or as good as Telltale's.

It reminds me of Left 4 Dead. I’m getting it.

Looks like a poor man's Dead Island.

Argh, hopefully this game doesnt push back the release of season 2 of TT's TWD.
  • edited January 2013
It looks alright. It's just unfinished, clearly. It needs some more time for polish and it'll be good.

It only follows the television series right?
If this is true I think the Telltale story is way more interesting.
I love the television series, don't get me wrong, but it's nice to see different groups in this world.

Yes, the main characters of the FPS will be the Dixon's. In that case it won't damage the reputation of the comics or the TT game.

This FPS looks like an extension of CoD's Zombie modes. And like many Activision shooters it will probably feature a mute main protagonist. Robert Kirkman is not amused about this. Everyone who is familiar with the original TWD universe knows that the series is mainly focusing on relations between the characters and their changing characteristics over the course of their journey.

Telltale's The Walking Dead reflected Kirkman's keynote brilliantly but I doubt that Activision will.

The visuals look very poor so far. I hope they invest some more resources into that, because I was actually very interested in this game. This game looks worse than all the games I've played in the last decade.
  • edited January 2013
Better than another shitty rushed COD, I guess.

It's not even just the graphics or the gameplay, overall it looks like shit, and it can't be denied that it isn't.

If Crytek or DICE were the ones developing an FPS game based on The Walking Dead, then perhaps it would be enjoyable and playable, but this is horrible right now.

Given that this is from the people who made Kinect Star Wars... I wouldn't be surprised to find out that footage were from the finished product.
  • edited January 2013
The gameplay footage turned out to be a fake, but still, I think the final game will be just another bland shooter only focussing on bashing in zombie heads.

Errrr, it might be rather early footage, but it is definitely not "fake".
Official sources have confirmed that the Walking Dead: Survival Instinct trailer we ran earlier today is in fact a fan edit, created using footage that was released as part of a preview given to gaming outlet IGN. It’s footage of an unfinished game, it wasn’t meant to be promotional material,

And even that last part of the author's apology is wrong, because the very same footage is presented as "first footage" in Up at Noon - with guest star Glenn Gamble. However early this stuff is, they ARE using it as promotional material.

Activision is just mooching off the popularity of the Dixons, the only good characters in the show. It looks a lot like I Am Alive and we all know how... meh that game was. I'll get it as long as it's not Kinect, god help them if it's railed like Fable.
  • edited January 2013
That gameplay footage doesn't look promising, but I'll keep an open mind about it. It seems kind of like Dead Island.

One thing that i noticed is the walkers start jogging at one point. That's a no-no for me, they're called walkers because they walk, dang it!
  • edited January 2013
Looks pretty craptastic. Hope that's very early footage.

And when the zombie grabbed the player at the end, it looked like it was ripped straight from Call Of Duty. I'm not impressed.

    I predict that:

    A) This game will be legitimately terrible, and get terrible reviews
    B) This game will sell better and make way more money than Telltale's game did anyway

I hope I'm wrong because if I'm right then this'll be terrible for the industry

You're probably right on part B. This has the advantage of being published by Activision, so the developers have Call of Duty money to throw at their advertising initiative. That is, of course, beyond the endless free advertising this thing will get on AMC.

I smell two-player co-op, regenerating health, ten thousand zombies being blown apart in an hour, and a considerable lack of survival elements in the name of broad marketing appeal.

99.9% most likely to be the case. Even then, I think FPS are stagnated, and really need to be put to rest for awhile.
  • edited January 2013
I agree with watertommyz and Drake. Not promising. Any WTD game that comes out should be about survival, not just killing zombies.

(Yes, killing zombies is beneficial to survival but that's not what I mean and you know it. Think DayZ or old survival horror. Strategy, rationing of supplies, planning...)

And Call of Duty money's being thrown at this? Damn. That game's lousy too.

Give me 12 seasons of Telltale's masterpiece instead.

(Note: Currently playing through and enjoying Dead Island, and Dead Rising 2 is on the backburner. I have enough zombie slaughterfests.)
  • edited January 2013
Well, I'm going to reserve my Hatred Bile until the game comes out, but it still doesn't look all that promising. I'll probably watch a Let's Play or something before passing judgement.

Although, TT's The Walking Dead had its own hurdles: made with a small budget by a company not many know by name using point-n-click adventure game mechanics and released episodically. And had a black man as main protagonist. And a little girl as the female lead.

So, ya know, keep in mind that despite all that TT's TWD is awesome. The Activision's TWD might be awesome too, though I'm getting some bad vibes.

I hope you're wrong, too. If that happens, then all the GotY awards won't make a lick of a difference. The industry will have the notion that good story does not equal money reinforced and we won't see another masterpiece like TT's TWD for a looooong time. That would make me very sad.

Actually, Kirkman's Walkers *can* jog. I suspect they're called Walkers 'cause they got back up and started walking.

    Look at all the butthurt.

This isn't a contest, people - can't we have "both" games and be happy? :p Sheesh. :p

While I don't give two anal expulsions about graphics, I am somewhat glad those are not representative of the finished product.

If this was a quality first person shooter no one would be complaining, but since it's crap people are.

    Crap huh?

Have you played it? Have you seen actual finished game footage?

Since I've read it's likely to be released on 2014....... I'm guessing no.

Now, I'm not going to defend or apologize for them, but I sure as hell won't judge what's probably alpha or early beta footage as I would a finished game.

Being an Activision title and most likely alike Call of Duty, it won't be a high quality game, even in its final stage.

DICE or Crytek? Would definitely be a superb Zombie FPS Survival game.

    Not true.

Looks like it's being developed by Terminal Reality, and only published by Activision.

Now, I'm not fool enough to think Activision doesn't have it's thumb in the pie, as it were, but seeing as TR made Bloodrayne and Bloodrayne 2 (two games I really enjoyed) I'm willing to give them a little faith that the game might be decent.
  • edited January 2013
This thing is more than likely going to bomb. The only question is "will it take the reputation of Telltale's game with it?"

I never played Bloodrayne 2, but I thought the first one was extremely mediocre when it came to Gameplay, sexy half-vampire and Nazi slaughter aside.
