I am sure to like the TTG more.. I am a firm believer that there is some fun to be found with different experiences.
I will keep my eye on it to see how much of a Left 4 dead or COD rip-off it is. Then when it releases the hordes of angry fans demanding a refund. Then finally, the invitable Angry Joe review; which might spark his interest to do a review on the TTG edition too.
When people were trolling the boards with "WHY ISNTT TEH GAEM A SHOOTER!!!1!1111!!?" threads I would reply that every game doesn't have to be a shooter to be fun.
If this does as poorly as I think it will I'll finally have a strong argument to use to back Telltale when some arogant, misguided soul says "WHAT THE FAUCK? why are dey makin dis shit be an arcade game? it should be a FPS."
Now on the other side of that coin Just because WD works pretty well as a story driven adventure game.. it doesn't mean that a more action based shooter stealth survival game cant be fun as well. I am going to keep an open mind. I hope its great, you never know
Agreed. The Half-Life franchises is a great example of this. When you play you never lose that feeling of immersion. Though I have my doubts with this game...
Hmmm a SHOOTER set in TWD world- um, isnt shooting bad?
I can already see it 'The Walking Dead: The Never Ending Herd'
Ya, I'll stay right here, thanks.

You're thinking of Jurassic Park.
And there was some serious fan attempt to curse BTTF into being sandbox free roam. But those who came for the Walking Dead mostly got and accepted how this game would work from minute one.
As I see it, there are two possibilities: (a) The Activision game is a pure shooter with some cutscenes thrown into it or (b) there actually is some interactive conversation and choices going on. Option (a) would be lame and counter to the spirit of TWD; option (b) would be a rip off of what Telltale was trying to achieve.
In any case, it seems like the agreement Telltale has with Kirkman is very fair. After all, another game with the same license to come out directly the next year, without doubt with a far higher budget? If I were a lawyer and had provided that contract, I'd have taken some steps for that not to happen.

I think the big point here is that one is based on the comics and the other on the TV show so I would imagine AMC having plenty to say about a video game tie in. It may be based around the same original property but with the variations of both I don't see any worries about keeping the games distinct. The fact is that Activision/who ever actually is designing it have chosen the best character to base a game around not just from a pleasing the fans point of view but also for the fact that they were created for the TV show and so again there is no conflict with the comics.
At least Telltale have the better name with it simply being The Walking Dead. I would imagine Activision will at least have to subtitle their game.

AMC series shmeries. It's Kirkman's property, isn't it?
i wondered why it's taken amc this long to admit they making a game maybe cos of telltales 'success' they have started blabbing to carry on ttg's coat tails
damn shame really that it had to be activision yeah they going to turn the call of the dead in a call of the walking dead...cheap lazy and blatant cashcow
Same.. How it can be called crap when all we have is a few details and a teaser trailer with no gameplay is puzzling to me.
Because we know how large publishers work. Survival elements aren't popular enough. Dead Space was as watered down as a survival horror can get, and we've been told it's still going to be stripped down in the name of 'diversifying' and 'expanding the market'.
Ah who cares, the TV show sucks anyway. Not an episode goes by where one or all of the characters don't do something monumentally stupid to the point where you're wondering how they've gotten this far. I really think those jam doughnuts have it out for Glenn when they shove him down a well after securing him to a rusty old facet with the intention of drinking zombie ass water. It's been many months and to this day nobody seems to know what they were trying to do.
Actually it (TWD teaser trailer) looks and sounds like its going to be awesome. I don't know why people are hating on it...Telltale Fanboys I guess. Either way I'm a die hard TWD fan and I'm looking forward to a Walking Dead game with a bigger budget from a more established company! (Sorry TTG you know I love ya but the whole shit on your customers thing has made me lose a lot of respect for u all!):D

No, Walking Dead fans. One of the biggest ideas OF the Walking Dead is that using a gun is the stupidest idea possible when fighting zombies!!! that only attracts more zombies to come and attacking you, defeating the purpose of using the gun in the first place.

Ummm.. Maybe thats why you play as someone who uses a crossbow. Im sure there will be other guns but if you would have read the description before dropping this knowledge you would have seen where they said you can choose to fight or sneak your way through walkers and if you use weapons you have to use them sparingly. Also, a lot of the assumptions is that this is going to be a FPS. The quotes from Activision call it a First Person Adventure.

You have a valid point, it says u have the option to sneak around them.
personally I prefer an LMG and a hoard of slow moving targets but I do agree with you somewhat. I just hope they do a good job on it.:D

Lawyers have very different ideas on the topic. I remember in the late 90's there was a legal kerfuffle between Sierra and some other company over a Lord of the Rings MMO. Sierra had the book MMO rights, other company had the movie MMO rights.
Happy ending though, Sierra capsized and the other company go to make the MMO.
Anyways, whatever contract Kirkman signed for the AMC series probably limited his power over spinoff products.
they gotta reach out to all the fans so given the fps shooter players that are fans of the walkin dead series is a great idea people who dont like it simply put dont have to play it save ya money.
So many idiots hatin' on this before they've even seen any gameplay. From the description it sounds as though it's going to be a lot more than a fps. But I suppose to know that, you'd have had to read the description, which is probably more than some of the people who have posted are capable of.
You have absolutely no idea what the game is going to be like, despite what you suspect. So pipe down, until you do.
And I know someone's already said it, but I have to laugh at the people up in arms like: 'SHOOTING IS BAD IN THE WD WORLD LOL!!' Not sure if you've noticed but the main character in the game has been carrying a crossbow round for 2 seasons. If you'd failed to notice that, it's even in the trailer for you.
Plus it says that you'll have the choice to shoot it, or to stealthily avoid attacks if you prefer.
So many idiots hatin' on this...
People are idiots.
I don't understand this either, yes I would agree if this was a trailer for cod 12 but it's not. Anyway heres the website nothign really on it. http://www.thewalkingdeadbegins.com/

Aye, they're hating it based on what they suspect it's going to be like. Sure, they might have some slight idea based on who is making it or from the description (even though it sounds as though most of them haven't even read it)
There's no gameplay footage whatsoever and it sounds like they intend it to be much more than the fps it's being billed as (like that fella said, it's actually being described as more of a fpa)
People have literally seen words 'fps' and jumped to huge, ridiculous conclusions.

Oh... You've already played the game? Is it out now?
You have ABSOLUTELY no idea either.
On TWD looking for troubles with hordes of zombies it's suicidal, using stealth or not.

This don't have a very good looking, that's all.
Well half of that reply didn't really make any sense, so i'll ignore those parts.
As for the parts I understood:
I haven't played the game yet, no. I'm not saying it's going to be good. I'm just giving it the benefit of the doubt until i'm proven wrong. I'm basing my initial opinion on the description of the game on the official website, which mentions using stealth, managing supplies and making decisions, amongst other things.
The people already hating the game are hating it based on other first person shooters that have nothing to do with this game. Even though this game doesn't even sound as though it's going to be the mindless fps that you're all already pegging it as, for some unknown reason.
Also, who says they're looking for trouble with hordes of zombies??! They're just trying to get to Atlanta, they're not out zombie hunting.

I don't know what your on about that dancing was amazingg.
Updated my post. We can be expecting a dance mode, with Robert Kirkman as a special unlock character.

So they dont have to put much of an effort into making it a good one.
Your gonna be daryl running around with his crossbow shooting hundreds of zombies. Yay!
You're thinking of Jurassic Park.

I cried watching those videos. Nothing is scared anymore. Everything is for sale

Apparently it will be released next year and take place before season 1 of The Walking Dead.
I can't lie im excited to know more.

Can sneak to avoid zombies, and when you do fight them you have to conserve your ammo.
And interaction with people is important.
Doesn't sound like your typical shooter to me.
Yep, agree with you. These points to me seem like it might be a good game. As long as it isent dead island (--- which is game you can only play once.
damn shame really that it had to be activision yeah they going to turn the call of the dead in a call of the walking dead...cheap lazy and blatant cashcow
While it may seem harsh, yes. But "FPS", "Zombie", and "The Walkind Dead" are a few words that are NOT meant to go together.
Because we know how large publishers work. Survival elements aren't popular enough. Dead Space was as watered down as a survival horror can get, and we've been told it's still going to be stripped down in the name of 'diversifying' and 'expanding the market'.

i be keeping a eye on it aswell. i just hope activision pays a lot of attention to why the walking dead is good.
"FPA", "Zombie" was my word and my mistake (been calling them zombies forever, changing to walkers is difficult).
I love everything "The Walking Dead" and will hold out hope that they do it right. And if not then hopefully we get multiple seasons from TT
Me too. But there's a first time for everything. So, Im gonna stay positive about it and hold out hope.
Too bad the game is already being made.
Jeez, you guys act like you're gonna be forced to play it at gun-point when it comes out.
It could be fun to try it though. I would love to use Daryl's crossbow.
