a shooter can have a good story too. It is just a different style of gameplay. Examine a game like the new Deus Ex. There is a game with a great story that is also a shooter.
It could be good, if done right. Shooting zombies is not out of place in the Walking Dead universe (even Telltale had the player as Lee shoot a zombie). But, it would be out of place to have an unrealistic amount of ammunition (the two brothers aren't going to be carrying around backpacks full of shotgun shells). Regaining ammunition should be done realistically too. The ammo just isn't going to be sitting around, and it shouldn't be a case of "see gun shop, get extra guns and bullets" because the gun shops would be one of the first places looted after a zombie outbreak. If they manage to blend the stealth gameplay and realistically handle the shooting sections, it could work. The only thing bothering me is that it's published by Activision and handled by the team who did Kinect Star Wars (although they did do Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which was good). It's got me thinking quick cash-in, but I still remain cautiously optimistic.

That isn't why people are against it. Besides that, Deus Ex is more of an RPG with shooter elements than a shooter.
The thing about the Walking Dead is that if you just shoot the walkers, then you are an idiot! The game flat-out breaks the number 1 rule OF the Walking Dead right off the bat.

To be fair, people don't really start adhering to that rule until they figure out what's going on. Like Lee blasting the zombie at the start of episode 1. Rick uses a gun several times early on as well. They both learned quick not to rely on firearms though.
I do agree with you about a shooter being out of place in the Walking Dead universe. Even a Deus Ex style shooter is too much. It would have to be very different from most FPS today for it to even make sense. Hell, like 90% of the zombies in the comics are killed with melee weapons.

Rick just didn't know that was a bad idea. Lee had no other options, if he didn't shoot, he would have died.
I don't like the idea of this, a FPS goes entirely against the logic of the walking dead series. Activision needs to stick to call of duty zombies, imho. Seems like someones just outright selling the walking dead label to the highest bidder now.
I have a terrible suspicion this fps game will just be a cheap CoD zombie mod/ l4d knock off.
QQ: What's wrong with someone liking the TV series better?... Some people, only have the TV series. I don't have money to go out and buy 100 Issues of Graphic Novels. Plus, the nearest library is in another city.
So unless you people can link me to a site where you can view them for free... I'm with the TV series camp by default.

There's nothing wrong with liking the T.V. series. It's just that most of the people that have seen both the T.V. show and the comics prefer the comics. There are some huge differences between the two.
It's also stated that TTG's The Walking Dead takes place in the comic's universe. It's definitely worth it to check it out. As for a link, spend 10 seconds with Google.
so, a fps in the walking dead universe? hmmm. i'm not too sure what to think about that... it could be good, really good. if the right developers would do it. but activision? no, i don't think that's a good idea at all.
and i think the only nearly perfect game in twd universe is an adventure type game. and oh well, we already got a good one from tt. at least 2 of 5 episodes
still, i'm excited to see some more trailers and actual ingame footage.
let's wait and see, maybe it will be somehow a good game, but my hopes aren't too high.
and to the topic between comic and tv series: i actually like the tv series as much as i like the comics. they are pretty different in my opinion. the story is better in the comics but the action and intensity are better in the series. so, i see no point why noone shouldn't like the series more than the comic.
Spent 7 mins, found a lot of Red sites (I have McAffee). I need a safe site, can't really find one.
Please don't talk about illegally obtaining copyrighted material here. It's against Telltale's Terms of Use.
You can buy the trade paperbacks of the comics for pretty cheap. Amazon has them for less than $10 each (and even less than that if you buy them used).

Are they by the Issue? or do they have a sort of multiple issues per purchase thing? (Never did the Comic Book/Graphic Novel thing, if I bought them it'd be my first time so IDk these things.)

Trade paperbacks are paperback books that collect multiple comic issues into one book, so that they are more affordable to the more casual comic fan (and also offer up another avenue of collection for comic collectors).

True, but this is Activision here...
PS: Publisher, producer, whatever don't know the difference...
Their name is there, that's the point.
So doesn't matter if all they do is pay the money or write the story, than that just makes them poor choice makers...
who IMHO knows nothing about a good gameplay features...
they just grab shows/games & throw in a mindless shooter game
not just shooters, but RTS too
all of them plain shoot, get bigger stuff & shoot some more & that's it...
the little stuff are mostly irrelevant...
can someone name me any Activision shooter that comes close to Deus Ex...
***reading list*** (windows only)
wow they're part of
a Barbie game, lol
make that 2 Barbie games...
every Call of Duty, big surprise (love MW series btw)
only good story in the list, but still a shoot em up game...
Huh, Doom 3... ok there's some good features in there...
out of the entire Star Trek games, the only one not there (that i'm aware of)
is Klingon Academy & that's the best of them all...
It has everything in it for a simulator game
guess they need to stay away from Activision to make a proper ST game...
made by Interplay instead, the one that brough Fallout great game series.
That's who needs to make the shooter for TWD if any...
Love Fallout: New Vegas's survival mode (Hardcore)
u have to find & cook ur own meals if u can't get it from anyone.
drink water, sleep, fix up limbs, deal with addictions, etc...

Wait did Interplay make Fallout 3 and NV? I thought that was Bethesda...
But yeah, Fallout's pretty beast.
Yeah, but the original ones were kinda crap in comparison... Just saying.
crap? in terms of genre that's preference.
When I played the original, always wondered what a shooter version of the title would be like.
but still love the original just the same... nice that they tried to make it a real time version in F: Tactics.
anyway, the originals can have relationships, shoot the @*/..., tons more melee weapons (broken bottles, etc.)
nice tactical playstyle
& who knows whatelse the shooters cut off for who knows what reason...

I don't think the game style could draw me in the way the FPS version does. When I play Fallout 3 or NV I feel like I'm really there, surviving in the wasteland.

That's what I wondered when I asked what would a shooter be like.
to use ur own accuracy, sneak around & not worry if the dice are rolling wrongly...
STALKER was suppose to provide what F:New Vegas did, I got friends with high hopes for that game, say got sleep, eat, etc...
so far sleep seems to be cut out, food is like random, ammos r crazy, lol
worst of all, enemies pop out of nowhere back in places I cleared.
it was terrible, IMO
Glad Fallout 3 manage to make a descent first try & improved upon in New Vegas
Mods fix that, have you been to the Fallout3nexus?
nope, not much of a mod person...
so much things to mess around with, lol
now if its a remake of the game itself, I'm all for getting that.
like Star Control 2, rather than a Mod, they (fans) redid the whole thing
making a 8mb game to a 200mb game
better graphics, great voices been added, etc. for free too.
Waiting for the new X-Com.
I wonder if the Chrysalid zombies will still be around, lol
Lee will run like mad seeing those things.

Well IDK about that, but there are a lot of mods that better AI and Combat, as well as survival. Also some that add new characters, quests, etc. If you haven't played FO3 with Mods, you haven't played FO3

There are 17 so far, it's not cheap to get caught up. I bought the compendium and read through 80+ issues in three days...it was a mind blowing thrill ride.

There are 16 right now (there will be 17 in December, which will collect the comics up to #102), but some of the earlier trade paperback books can be had for as cheap as $3 on Amazon if you buy them used.
There's also the Walking Dead Compendium, which collects the first 48 comics, and is $35 on Amazon.
What you rather pay to play... Telltales version of the Walking Dead based of the comic book series, or the highly anticipated The Walking Dead video game based of the AMC hit TV show; where you play as Daryl Dixon and Merle Dixon.
Um... these are the TWD forums. The concensus should be obvious.
I'm honestly done with FPS games for a while. Battlefield 3 has the best multiplayer and a 4-6 hour single player campaign for $70 is a bit steep for me.
Maybe I'll pick it up during a Steam sale at some point though.
Comments
Kirman himself has said a Walking Dead FPS is rather pointless.
One of the things I loved about Kirkman was his ability to tell it like it is. (At least in that interview...)
Get out. GET. OUT.
Do I have to kill you now or later?
LALALALALALALALA!
*logs off and stops putting off the reading*
